Park Bom's Spring & 4:44 sound dated.
-
Maybe I'm too late, but most of The Greatest Showman songs are generic and cliche.
-
I prefer simple/no choreo (a la Big Bang, Winner, Mamamoo) than hard choreo (a la SM). It feels more genuine and less manufactured.
-
Days Gone By (Day6) is one of the best title tracks this year.

Thanks for detailed answer! Sorry for the late reply. There are mixed opinions about Ed's voice type. I think he's a tenor tho with good low register. For Harry, mostly think he's baritenor or baritone. Liam, I thought he's a tenor since he sounds quite light. But after heard him singing in 2nd octave, it's believable he's a baritone. Yeah Dean kinda sounds like Kyungsoo, tenors with 'not too dark and not too bright' timbre.

Thanks guys for detailed reply! Are Ed Sheeran, Liam Payne, Harry Styles baritone as well?
-
I'm curious why do you think Bieber, Dean, Taeyang are baritones? I rarely hear them sing that low (upper 2nd & lower 3rd octave), except Love Yourself maybe. Shawn Mendes tho, i quite understand, since he often sings at lower parts of 3rd octave. Also, their timbre are too bright to be a baritone.

Thanks a lot guys for detailed reply How to find a singer's passaggio? I'm still confused about this passaggio thing, lol. I mean, how to tell there is a transition, from chest to mixed voice for example. I just know that they sing low, medium, high notes, falsetto etc lol. But have no idea where the voice comes from, is it from chest, combination of chest and head (mixed), etc. Please enlighten me

Thanks a lot!!! ============================== How to differentiate a baritone and untrained/undeveloped tenor?
-
Produce's main vocal: I prefer Yuri's voice than Yeunjung / Sejeong. Yuri has kinda unique tone that suits my taste. Yeunjung's tone is generic. Sejeong's is alright, but her voice shines better in solo songs.
-
So between two or more main vocalists without striking difference, we need live performance to judge, right? While for sub vocalists, without seeing live performance it's clear that most of them don't support.
-
Thanks! But I still have a hard time differentiating tho, for example: In studio version, Jihyo and Nayeon sound like they're at the same level, but they said Jihyo has support while Nayeon's support is weak.
-
Sorry if it sounds stupid, but can we tell whether someone sings with/without support just by hearing studio version?
-
I never heard her b-sides, but I think Ailee has good title tracks. They're powerful, catchy and showcase her vocal. Idk why most ppl think they're lacklustre.
-
1. SM singing style sounds too trained, too safe, lacks rawness. Compared with group like Mamamoo for example, they also have proper technique but sound more...expressive, lively, punchy, you name it. 2. Mamamoo's Wheein lacks X factor. She fits Mamamoo very well, but individually lacks certain charm.

Thanks for the clear explanation! Sorry for the super late reply xD

Ah I see. So better to hear them sing to know their comfort range, right? Thank you!

Hi guys, Can we tell someone's voice type by just listening their speaking voice? For example, a girl/woman have low speaking voice and sometimes mistaken for a man on the phone. Can we say she is a contralto / mezzo soprano?
-
Yea he looks younger than his age, I thought he is around 20-21 He can impress the audience with only mediocre (or even subpar) technique, imagine if he has good technique. (Actually I'm not a fan of his voice, his tone is too light for me and he seems to rely heavily on those high range to impress. But I can really see why he is hyped).
-
Thanks! Dimash is 23 years old.
-
Thanks for great explanation! Is Dimash' current technique damaging in the long run?
-
Oh I see. I can easily tell then, since most sub vocalists sound shallow, even in their comfortable range. But how about 'praised vocalists' like, let's say, Dimash. Ahmin said he doesn't support properly. Does it mean that he doesn't support throughout the range, or just in high range? Because in mid range, I think he sounds just fine.
-
Thanks a lot! I noticed in these examples, most of them are high notes. Do you have example of supported vs unsupported notes in middle area?
-
Hey guys. I know this is stupid question, but..how to tell whether someone sing with support or not? Most of the time, if you guys said *insert sub vocalist names* have shallow/weak/no support, I can hear that they sound weak. But i'm confused when singers that ppl perceive as good, such as: Dimash, Keiko Kubota, Jung Joon Young, etc..you guys said they can't support properly. They sound quite strong to me, I don't hear the 'typical weak-sub vocalist sound' from them

Seulgi's voice is generic. I don't get why many ppl think her voice is unique.
