Juniel's High Cut Interview Q. A while ago, 1000 days passed since your debut. Juniel: Reading messages and letters that fans sent to me, I was amazed that I came this far. It feels like several days ago when I was singing illa illa, but actually it's been 1000 days. Q. In the past 1000 days, which day was the most meaningful? Juniel: June 7th, 2012. My debut date. I was a trainee for about 5 years and also went to Japan for study. I worked hard at this and that, then finally went into the world. That's why. Q. Among your fans, there's an opinion that you are much prettier when you show your forehead, compared to the usual bangs hiding your forehead. As you are said to be "kkan-Juni" in a way, what are you going to address the forehead issue? Juniel: Because I've been hiding my forehead from the very beginning, some fans think that there might be a scar or something on my forehead. I myself like hairstyle without bangs, so I usually grow my hair while I don't have promotional activities. But when the promotional period came, I had a haircut by company. It's sad, but I don't have power. (Laugh) Q. In Korean music industry, female solo singer-songwriters don't have many posts to take. Juniel: Of course that's true, but I find it better because of rarity value. There are not so many female singer-songwriters or those who have their own voices. It would be great if I could be someone who can't be replaced. Q. Basically, girl groups do well in the main stream, attracting with prettiness, sexiness and cuteness. If there is not a stage where you can sing, don't you have less chances to earn money or to achieve success? Juniel: I don't think yet that I'm of an age when I must earn money. I am so disappointed with all the reactions post-UR ep.7 . I've been following the UR thread but have avoided commenting much more since it is useless. When people dislike just for the sake of disliking it's no use trying to discuss. It's as if they turned her into the anti-christ. And no one wants to hear anything otherwise. It's like some 'The Crucible' or Kafkian 'Process' where you're condemned and nothing you say matters. Like Jimin said in the episode, if she does well, it's because she's an idol. If she does badly, it's because she's an idol. She explicitly called out the double standard. I can't believe people just say they "hate her just because", or that they slut-shame her just because of one move, or that they call her a hypocrite for not rejecting her idol upbringing when that's who she really is.

The whole album is great but rn I'm looping 'Do you know why' like crazy =D It would be great if the company could loosen the pockets to allow them to play full live at least for the comeback stages in the first week. They deserve the maximum push possible to show their real identity. But I guess that might be asking for too much... I am optimistic though that this may finally get them recognised by korea's k-rock scene, and that they're invited to some korean summer rock festivals.
