Can't say I've noticed a pronunciation quirk, or that I could even if I tried, but now I'm intrigued. What is it you're hearing? Speaking of speech and pronunciation and such... I'm always impressed/pleased by how much/often he tries to speak in Mandarin in Chinese variety and interviews, but is it just me or does he still speak Mandarin veeeery sloooowly? Especially when he tries to put several whole sentences together, like at the end of that video. And it's really noticeable when immediately after Kyu finishes, either Zhou Mi or the MC starts talking and allofasuddeneverythingsoundslikethisandI'mkindaleftgoingWTF. But still. Gotta give Kyu major props for the effort. ... I dunno how he manages to be so strange, embarrassing, and adorable all at the same time sometimes. Lawd, he's cute. <3

I personally don't think that his TV personality is totally "fake," per say, but I don't think it's a totally accurate representation of Kyuhyun's whole personality, either. I think of his on-screen persona as his real personality simplified, distilled down to something easier for viewers to take in during his limited screentime. The traits most useful for entertainment purposes, namely his bluntness and wittiness, are really exaggerated, while other traits (ones that are endearing and admirable, but less likely to draw laughter or controversy) get downplayed or sort of ignored. And it's hard to tell how much of this is due to the editing and direction of Radio Star and other TV shows, and how much of it is Kyuhyun consciously crafting his own image.

GOD YES. I know it's really none of my business and I don't have any evidence, but for ages I've gotten the vibe that he might be bisexual, maybe not dead-center of the Kinsey scale but at least a little interested in some guys. Also used to think Heechul was bisexual, but the more I see him with Gunhee, the more I think... nah, he just gay. Same, luv, same. Lawd, some of the rude comments about his weight make me so mad. As frustrating as the rarity of SNS updates is, it really may be for the best, not only because there's less material for fans and antis alike to use against him, but also because (1) it makes the few posts he makes feel extra-special, and (2) he doesn't come across as self-absorbed. Now that does not mean that anyone who posts more is self-absorbed, but people make some ridiculous assumptions sometimes, so he is kinda dodging a potential problem there.

... I'm gonna try to pretend I didn't see that, but I have a bad feeling it's gonna haunt my dreams for at least a week. o____o What a darling. I guess I shouldn't worry so much about negative comments made about him on the Internet. Sounds like he deals with the negativity aimed at him with patience and perspective, and I couldn't be more proud of him.

Very true. Ichigo was... special. I kinda want to know how drunk he Changmin were when they decided to do that. Surprisingly, Zhou Mi doesn't do a lot of non-ballad stuff. Like, Miss Chic is literally the only example of a non-ballad Zhou Mi solo I can think of right now, and if I remember correctly, his vocal chords were in really bad shape for at least part of the SS3 tour, so he probably did it because he needed something that could be pre-recorded and lip-synced. But lawwwwd, what a solo that was.

That would be so intensely embarrassing. But I'm all for Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi teaming up for a more upbeat performance. Maybe this? Or this! Basically, anything that's either (1) super-fun, or (2) pure sex. Either way would be a good change of pace for them. Oh, the pain of having two biases who love ballads just a little too much.

Agreed. Drives me nuts when fans call him fat and tell him to lose weight, partly because he's. just. not fat? Like, at all? Not only that, but it'd be a lot more alarming if he still had his old scawny, lanky proportions now in his mid-twenties. He's all grown up, some physical changes were inevitable, and probably irreversible, so some folks are just gonna have to learn to accept how he looks now. I kinda wonder, though, if the negative reactions to Kyu's weight gain are mostly caused by K-pop's screwy, impossible standards, or if it also has a lot to do with ELF being infamously godawful at coping with change...

Anything where's he's being a clueless city boy and an utter failboat with animals. The Mamma Mia clip where he panics over feeding the horse is probably my absolute fave so far. And I freaking love how intense Don't Don/A Man in Love performances are, but not gonna lie, most of those gifs of Kyu's parts are more hilarious than hot.

Wait, what. I noticed a couple of trolls in SuJu posts lately (whether they were actual EXO fans or just using EXO to piss people off, I dunno), but who's talking crap about Kyu and why? Also, that Weibo selca he just posted a few days ago is so niiiiice, but it's got me thinking how hit-or-miss his selcas are. How hit-or-miss pictures of him are in general, actually. He has this odd face that people swear is absolutely stunning when you see it in person and he's really photogenic in some situations but just... not photogenic in others. Not at all. His pastiness + caked-on makeup + bad/excessive photoshop don't exactly help, either. (Lawd, the Lotte Duty Free ads. Whyyyyyyy) I know pale is considered ideal for an idol, but really: Even a tiny hint of a tan might do him wonders. Also, I still think that hair was glorious and I want to see it again. Except it would take several weeks of horrid mushroom hair first for it to grow out to that length again, wouldn't it.

Yes. And tbh I'm kinda dreading it. That's not to say I don't respect Leeteuk. It's easy to see that he's totally devoted to the group, and I think he tries to lead it to the best of his abilities. He's made Super Junior his home, his mission, the center of his world. But he seems very resistant to change. The way he talks about forever and makes promises about Super Junior never disbanding, the way he won't quite let go of the ones who've left... and I keep thinking back to that Radio Star episode where he told Kyu he shouldn't use MCing as a stepping stone to a better singing career. Maybe Leeteuk meant it as helpful advice, but it came across to me as jealousy, and I'm worried that Leeteuk and Kyuhyun are gonna wind up fighting over who gets to be SuJu's top variety star. Variety was Leeteuk's niche, but now Kyuhyun isn't just the quiet, criminally under-appreciated vocalist, he's the vocalist and an established and adored variety star. So if Leeteuk rejoins variety after he's discharged, people are always going to be comparing him and Kyuhyun, forcing them to compete, whereas before Leeteuk would have never had to think of Kyuhyun as competition. I'm just afraid Leeteuk is going to get nasty about it, that he's going to try to herd everyone back into their neatly designated roles and that he's going to give Kyuhyun especially a lot of grief. Hopefully those fears are unfounded...

And then when idols protect themselves by giving cliche, robotic, and/or clearly rehearsed answers, fans complain that they aren't honest enough. Idols just can't win when it comes to expressing themselves. I wish he would open up more on SNS again, he's just so charming, smart and self-aware and surprisingly mature. At least nowadays we get glimpses of his personality from the interviews he does relating to Radio Star and his musicals. The grace with which he accepts criticism still impresses me.

Uuuuugh, all the racism. Saw some of the netizen comments and... no. Just. No. Why. And it makes me wonder how much racism had to do with Han Geng and Kris leaving in the first place. And how much racism Zhou Mi and the other remaining Chinese idols and trainees deal with on a daily basis, from whom.

I'm actually a little surprised Kyuhyun's bite-the-hand-that-feeds-you post hasn't been brought up more (though maybe a little relieved it hasn't?), not because I put much stock in the SM staff conspiracy but because it's one of so many eerie similarities. Honestly, for all the EXO hype and the way SM's been grooming them to follow the path of TVXQ and H.O.T, right now EXO's following SuJu's path instead. A single member filing the lawsuit; Chinese, leader of the M subunit; the godawful timing of the lawsuit; the maknae social media outburst; the reasons given for wanting to terminate the contract; even the law firm involved. It's hardcore deja-vu. Not gonna lie, I cringe when I'm reminded that Kyu made that post. But at the same time I understand. Han Geng had very good reason to leave, but it seems like he kinda blind-sided the others and left them to deal with the aftermath and guilt. Kyuhyun's a soft-hearted little sassnugget, he must've been hurt even though he didn't seem as close to Han Geng as Siwon and Heechul were. I just hope they've all moved on and found peace by now, and that EXO can eventually do the same and their fans calm down and deal with Kris leaving better. I've already seen one "12-1=0" post on tumblr and I wanted to scream because it was waaaay too similar to Only13's early mantra.

Not my favorite performance, but what a cute. ;w; Also reminds me... Does anyone remember the other intro they did to Bonamana that year, at the SBS Gayo Daejun where they wore the white outfits? Still kinda hoping they'll release that one as a full song eventually, too. SM seems to hold on to unreleased material for years (for example, Dancing Queen and Talk Talk), so there's hope!
