  1. I think she's probably tired of the touring life. It's extremely difficult to perform at that level for so long - she has barely had any breaks over the past ten years, actually even over the past 25 years she's performed very consistently. At 40 years old, she might feel like it's time to stop, the wear and tear on her body must have been huge. She's not simply standing on stage and singing 20 songs, she's really dancing and performing.

  2. I saw all the performances, and to be honest I was pretty impressed. None of them were 'bad', they were all decent, especially by kpop standards. It's really nice to see kpop stars show something in dance that's actually difficult AND do well. I know Bora was outshone, but I don't think she was bad. Her expressions could do a little work, but all the moves were good, well executed, and those moves require control. Momo was fine, she's a rookie so her stage presence could be better. Ten of course was very impressive, but his performance was not my style. I wouldn't be surprised if he won though. Ukwon had the best 'story' out of all, and his charisma and acting was top notch. However, the actual dance was disappointing; it wasn't any harder or more impressive than a typical kpop boy dance.

Nonetheless, I'm glad they have a theme. I hope next week's candidates do well!

  3. I find it helpful to think of it this way: people don't hate Jessica because of who she is as a person.

They hate her only because they see her as a threat to what they want to protect. Unfortunately, Jessica's mere existence portrays a reality that many people don't want to believe; it shows that their favourite group and their favourite company is not actually the illusion that is portrayed. However, they are so deep into it that they want to keep up the illusion, and the only way to do so is to demonize Jessica. I hate to be dramatic, but Jessica represents the ugly truth that they want to cover up. And so, the more successful and more powerful she becomes, the more hate and lies that need to be spread about her. So, unfortunately, I don't think there will ever be an end to the hate.

Luckily, in places where her opponents are not as powerful (ie. China and the fashion world), the hate won't be as strong. I'm glad though that Jessica is mature and a big person, and tries her best to de-escalate the situation by taking the high road. It shows that she has moved on and genuine enough to actually confront the situation head on without pretending it never existed.

  4. I'M CRYYYIIINNGGGGGGGG

I'm so happy for her, for how good her album is, the physical and digital success (who would've thought?), her happy relationship, positive comments, etc.

Who would've thought a year and a half ago that she would be where she is now? She lost pretty much everything except for her fans, was the subject of an intense PR campaign out to dirty her name, and was fired from her job, but look where she is now: on top of the WORLD!

  5. The more I listen to her recent singles, the more I like them. At first I was really disappointed, but there's something in the melody that draws me in. I think one of the things that separate her recent singles from her previous ones are the maturity in the lyrics. She has always used metaphors and other literary devices to create a deeply emotive story, but this time, with her mother's death in mind, they hit home harder.

Anyways, the NEWS ZERO episode with the debut of her song was the highest rated episode of the year, while the opening episode of the asadora with her song had the second highest asadora opening ratings since 2001.

  6. Although Sulli may be trying to shed her idol image, at the end of the day many people like her and want to see her updates. Maybe those photos are shocking because she used to be an idol, but they are just some very typical photos of a couple in love. Its unfortunate that Knetz see these photos of Sulli's mental decline when she's just sharing her happiness with us. I personally have never had a problem with idols dating, so maybe I'm different. Anyways, I'm tired of all the Sulli bashing that goes on outside of this thread so I'd rather see her here.

It's clear that she doesn't want to be an f(x) member anymore, and I am fine with that. Nonetheless, I think that there is so much overlap between the f(x) and Sulli fandoms and given her history as a f(x) member, they will always be spoken of together.

Frankly, I find it ridiculous the sheer amount of hate Sulli gets for her SNS even though she has never done anything illegal or comparable to what some male idols get (eg. DUI, reckless driving, drugs, homophobic and sexist comments, etc.)

  7. I am so tired with all this recent talk about Tyler Kwon this TK that. Jessica just got signed to a music label and is going to release an album in March but everyone only cares about Tyler? What?? How is that even relevant? Why is Jessica's relationship (or lack thereof) with Tyler of ANY relevance to her music??? Why does everyone care about Jessica's well being all of a sudden?

She's said it again and again that she has no plan to marry and TK has also denied that, and beyond that anything about their relationship is just speculation pieced together by tabloids to sell a story and lapped up by netizens. All we know is that they have a business relationship, and a very good one at that - in the last two years Jessica has filmed a major movie in China, invited to events with the top celebrities in the world, invited to top Chinese variety shows, launch her fashion and skincare line, got several high-profile endorsements, and has distribution deals with some of the most prestigious Asian retailers. Do you think SM would have gotten her that?? No, that's all due to Jessica's new management company and Coridel. Say what you want, but Coridel has extremely extensive business contacts in Asia; in fact far superior to SM. The success of SM acts in China are all based on their local studios anyways.

Even if Jessica and Tyler are in a relationship, that shouldn't be automatically bad. There are plenty of times where couples have worked together in entertainment. Most famously, Celine Dion's husband, Rene, made her a global superstar, and they remained married until his death. Family ties also exist, Utada Hikaru, who holds the record for best selling Asian album, is managed by her father, and so was Beyoncé. In business, there are plenty of husband-wife combos. Forever 21 is run by a Korean couple. Fiji Water, Gap, Panda Express were all found by people who became husband and wives. So why are all these teenagers on OH and Knetz who have never had any experience in entertainment immediately writing off Jessica as victim to Tyler's web of deceit? We should give Jessica more credit than that - she's been in entertainment for over 15 years, and she knows how shady it can be (I mean, she was kicked out of SM!) I'm sure that she knows her way around a business deal or too  - plus isn't her dad a lawyer? Jessica is smart enough to do what no other SM act has ever been able to do before: not get blacklisted by SM. I know that there are plenty of people who are taking this opportunity see Jessica crash and burn with glee, but we know better. Everyone wrote her off after she got kicked out and now she's doing better than ever.

  8. Haha it's fine... It's the Japanese fanclub right? Have you joined it before?

So responding to you 3 weeks later...

Yes, I joined the Japanese fanclub the first time it opened when they just debuted in Japan with Be My Shine. It was very expensive, around $60 USD a year, but there were quite a few goodies - exclusive webisodes, birthday cards, lanyard, membership cards, plus chances to go fanmeetings and hitouch events. Unfortunately, as I wasn't in Japan very often, I decided that it wasn't worth it to keep joining as I couldn't go to any of their fanmeetings, so I stopped. However, this one is free so I can join. I don't think it is as intensive as the old one, this one is just a few exclusive photos etc., and recently they are trying to promote their vacation with Boyfriend in Korea. Now that they've stopped Japanese promos, I don't think there will be any fanmeetings. Also, you need a Japanese address to join, but I'm pretty sure you can make one up.

    ---

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I think we shouldn't expect a comeback soon. Now that WJSN is debuting, it is unlikely that BF is going to be able to comeback soon. After WJSN, they'll want another MonstaX comeback since they are hot right now, and then it'll be summer so time for another SISTAR comeback. Plus then they'll want to do solo comebacks throughout, and they might be forced to give UNIQ a comeback because of the Chinese partner (I think they're doing v. well in China right now). So I don't know when we'll have time to get a BF comeback. This is pretty sad because BF's sales are declining (though they are still better than UNIQ) while Monsta X is increasing, and we all know how SISTAR does so I can see why Starship is shafting BF. Plus, WJSN is bound to be a hit, and UNIQ has their Chinese partnership while BF's Japanese partnership ended.

I know for sure that BF still has potential and I don't want this to sound like an obituary, but I think BF is evolving into solo territory. WE are beginning to see more individual activities for members, which is common for mature groups, and I think that's great. I think that we should also be proud of what BF has done. Nothing that any of the other Starship groups will hit in physical sales will EVER match the revenue that BF brought in from Japan. I'm not kidding when I say that they fed Starship for three years; I wouldn't be surprised if they brought in more money than Sistar at that time. It's how Suzy/Miss A was super popular in Korea but it was 2PM bringing in the Yen for JYP.

  9. Also, the Japanese fansite for Boyfriend has returned. I suspect that as their contract with Being ended, their Japanese fansite and releases were halted. However, they are now under a new administrator, so the fansite is free to join!

I don't think they will be doing much Japanese activities, but they had a really good run so I'm not sad.

  10. Hi everyone, can anyone confirm for me if ALL f(x)/SM first week comebacks have their vocals prerecorded? I stumbled upon this MR removed, and it sounds a bit too perfect. Usually I would automatically assume that its a prerecord/lipsync, but since its f(x) I thought they might sounds this good live anyways. There are some slight breathing parts but I'm not sure if its a studio rerecord.

  11. I'm beginning to see that negative press is good for Jessica. As they say, all publicity is good publicity. She hasn't been on TV or done many activities in Korea aside from photoshoots, so it is important for her to stay in the public eye as her album release approaches. No matter what, people talking about her means people are interested in her, so they will listen to her album. The worst is when people don't care about you; then your career is finished.

The antis coming outta the woodwork to bash her in the main forum lol this site is full of uglies.

I'm not just gonna unstan her based on trivial 3rd grade shit.

Btw I have a question about B&E that isn't very... pleasant and yet not meant maliciously at all, just trying to see if it's misinformation or something so I'll spoiler it:

What's with the use of angora fur to make B&E sweaters? IDK much about the material so when I googled it, it looked horrifying. How much of this is true, does anyone know? And does she really use authentic angora fur? If there's any legitimacy to it, I kinda want to call her out on it (like I did with all my other faves), but I don't even know anything about it in the first place so...

Adding on to what kumakuma said:

    1) We don't know if B&E sourced their angora ethically or not (not all angora from China is automatically inhumane)

    2) According to PETA, ALL animal fibers - leather, wool, cashmere, etc. are just as inhumane. PETA also says that wool from Australia and America are made in the same kind of conditions, but I don't see anybody crying over their oppars and unnirs leather handbags or wool coats.

    3) Many other retailers still use angora - Mixxo for example. A Tiffany stan once got into a fight with me over this and she shut up after I showed her a picture of Taeyeon modeling an angora blend coat from Mixxo.

I also talked about it in more detail in another thread:
