I think so too, it would probably the best way to go, OT5 + 2 open spaces and the 01/02/03 liners competing for it (so Sieun, Mako, Lily, Eunsoo, Yuna S., JiaYu, Haewon and Yeonkyung). Which will most probably turn into OT5 + Lily/Eunsoo + Yuna (I hope Lily, but on DC they seem to prefer Eunsoo, but I'm pretty sure it will be these 3 competing for the 2 spots, Yuna being a visual, her spot seems quite secure) or OT5+Lily/Eunsoo+Yuna+surprise addition JYPE/Public doesn't want to let go of (which I totally see happening, but not necessarily with Lily+Eunsoo+ Yuna, more like a trainee taking everyone by surprise, JiaYu/Mako/Sieun/Haewon are strong contenders if it comes to popularity votes, JiaYu will have all of Taiwan backing her, Mako Japan, Sieun has a fanbase already and Haewon got quite popular with just one showcase appearance...)

Also Julie Han has this infamous Strange Cloud cover: And less well know, the Hyuna Babe dance cover (the only girl with her hair tied) She sort of reminds of Jinny, the way she talks and her smile...^^

OP it would be interesting to add a bit of bio or videos of what the girls did before joining the Black Label. I personally didn't realize Moon Jihyo was the pretty girl from High School Rapper, that made every guy on the show shy (aka "sha sha girl"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqwR4P3bYBU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3TSO3b74rI

Not exactly a nice way to put it, that some people's desperate hope is sad... What's wrong with hope? If it bothers you, you can ignore the post instead of trying to crush whatever hope someone has for their favorite trainees to make it... It's not necessarily only meant for you, yeah, OT5 is pretty much secured at this point, but we never know what will happen, wouldn't be the first time there are last minute changes. Like some users said, it happened for 2PM/2AM, Got7, 6Mix/Twice, I'd argue even Min coming back to JYP and debuting with Miss A was a surprise. It's not like it's impossible.

I've been looking for where Haesol trained before, Idk if anybody found, but this tweet is the closest to finding out I found: (too many findings in this sentence ^^') Click here to view the Tweet I wonder how Tasha and her ended up almost debuting together, but I'm even more curious now... People on DC were saying the group had even filmed a reality show together, how did that end up scrapped?

From the SNS activity, it doesn't seem like she will be in the group. Before Mixnine, they had never even mentioned her, while the account used Soyeon and Soomin immediately to bring interest to the group and the account. Yerim being from Superstar K, she still has fans and they would have definitely used her as well from the get go to attract interest. After the Mixnine audition, they posted videos of Soyeon and Yujin performing, because they weren't selected, but nothing for Yerim, who wasn't picked by YG either. Also ever since Mixnine ended, there has been 1 Christmas polaroid of her and one appearance in the Halloween video, iirc that's it. Even Soyeon and Sujin got more appearances on the account... I left her on the OP because I believe there is still a chance for them to change their minds, just like nobody has proof Ranyoung and Yujin left so there is a slight chance they're still there.

I don't see where I was shading Jihyo. If you watched Sixteen, you would have clearly seen how they put Minyoung and Jiwon into the "potential main vocal" position in their editing, while Jihyo never was. That by no mean means Jihyo is not living up to the main vocal of Twice she is right now, but no, she wasn't trained as a main vocal or a power vocal, she was even in the dance teams in trainee showcases. Jihyo became a main vocal for Twice and that in itself is amazing, it proves how driven, hardworking and talented she is. But during Sixteen: she wasn't competing for that spot. If anything they had started pushing her leader qualities and her all-roundedness. Also again I love Twice and I am not shading them, they were chosen for their talent and charm when joining Sixteen, but the final members were mostly chosen on a popularity poll. They went through a survival, that's how it works, even if JYP kept the upper hand, he knows very well there was no way he couldn't add the top rankers in the poll, that's how both Mina and Tzuyu got a spot when nobody (in JYPE and actually even fans prior to the show) expected them, and how Minyoung who was a sure pick for 6mix ended up losing hers. Minyoung overdoing herself because of the pressure and believing it would get her a spot and cracking her voice a lot will never take away that she was 6mix's planned main vocal, not Jihyo. Again, doesn't mean Jihyo doesn't have vocal talent, just that main vocal wasn't her spot. (Also FYI, a main vocal doesn't choose the song, producers do depending on the known vocal abilities of the singers having to sing it, she probably wouldn't have cracked singing her group's songs) And yeah, for the ranking, someone posted it, it was official throughout Sixteen where every girl was ranking.
-
You're right, the poll was officially only an indication, yet he eliminated Momo for being last on the poll in her team (when Chaeyoung/Momo/Jiwon team lost). Also the final lineup was made of the top 9 rankers (-Somi +Momo) so even if officially, the poll was just an indication, in the end, it's the poll that made the lineup... They did drop both main vocals (Minyoung and Jiwon) to favor more popular girls and made Jihyo main vocal when it wasn't really a spot she was competing for initially...

It's funny to find the same people here too^^But yeah, just wanted to update it for now and to dig a little into what is already known, too many members that caught my eye already^^

Saying not pushing them as a whole group never meant for Somi to get all the solo schedules. I said solo or in pairs, instead of sending 3,4+ members on variety, sending Somi + 1 member for example. Letting Jisu or Lily or Chaeryeong get OSTs. Sieun, Eunsoo or Lily or whoever else can get roles. Yuna, Ryujin and the rest of the visual line can get more solo photoshoots or CF. Etc. What I'm saying is push them on solo schedules on their strong point rather than push for the whole group on everything. If you want an example, it's kind of the idea Starship went for with Sistar, letting every member get individual schedules in what she felt confident with. And I definitely didn't mean the girls should never get a group schedule, just that group schedules shouldn't be pushed for as much as it has been for Twice. Your example about Tzuyu getting solo CFs doesn't really apply to me tbh, I think a whole lot of companies must have wanted Tzuyu and because they could only get the whole group, they turned to another celebrity instead. Package deal for Twice is definitely not the same budget as getting Tzuyu alone. Also maybe no member got a solo debut while still in the group, but JJ project/Got7 exists (actually, 15& exists but I don't want to start the argument about them being idols or not, and I am well aware JJ project existed before Got7, but they did a comeback not so long ago and it wasn't a problem for the group). It's not like the company is stuck on the idea that solo and group is incompatible, if it can work for a 2-member unit, why not for a solo act? Ok "heard feedback" is not what I used, and is definitely not the only reason Twice was pushed as a whole, but yeah, without the history with Miss A, I do believe the promotional strategy wouldn't have been the same. They tried something new and it worked probably much better than they ever expected: For Twice. From a marketing standpoint, not every "product" is the same and should be promoted the same. Twice started from a survival show where all the members (except Momo) were voted in based on popularity. The survival show was about making a permanent lineup and most people were voting for and liked several members, so even with Tzuyu winning the poll by a big margin iirc, the popularity gap upon debut wasn't overwhelming. So far, these girls are not going the same route (it seems more and more like there won't be a survival show tbh). Why would a company go with the same strategy then? Also even if the strategy was to work a 100% every time, why would they want to put out a rival to the "nation's gg" and why would no other company have successfully copied it? It's not for the girls' future, girls' future is my standpoint as a fan, but overall, yeah, to differentiate from Twice, to not rival their biggest act rn, to create a group with a different identity... It makes the most sense to me to not follow the pattern they did for Twice. Have an individual promotional team and all like Twice: yes, the same strategy: no. Now my idea of pushing the members individually is just an idea I sort of like and think could work, based on the situation we are in right now. By no means am I an expert nor am I working for JYPE. It was just a suggestion of what I think would be different and interesting and could be successful for this group. And as for Sohee, her wanting to be an actress doesn't really make a difference. Sohee was the most popular member in WG and Sunmi was one of the less popular ones. Sohee was unable to use that popularity to get roles (and really, a looot of idols who are not stellar actors get roles just because they will bring their popularity and viewership to the drama, I still find it surprising Sohee couldn't do it after she left WG. While in WG I get how it could have gotten in the way of the group and she might have avoided it, or how she was in the US for a whole long time without promoting and it would have been difficult to get roles during that time). Sunmi came when nobody expected her, she got very lucky with her 1st solo song, it was the right song for her at the right time and it clicked well with the public. My point was really just to show an example that a member who is less popular at first might not necessarily stay the least popular in the long run, and that popularity gaps can be reduced or even overturned by lucky individual opportunities. EDIT: oh yes I wanted to add about Twice renewing contracts: I hope they do! I definitely hope they will stay for a long time. But realistically, Kpop is an extremely fast paced industry, when their contracts end, some members might leave and even if they all stay, younger groups will be there getting more and more popular and pushing the "old" groups towards disbandment. I don't know any old kpop group that is still as popular as in their prime, and the older groups that are still there have all branched out individually and the group is now their side activity rather than their main activity. I wish for Twice to stay as long as Shinhwa, but I hope they can find individual success and still see their group as a comfortable place to come back to, like Shinhwa members seem to do it.

There is a reason Twice has been pushed as a whole group, and the reason is Miss A. JYPE is well aware of the criticism they got for having Suzy and the girls, the lack of promo for the group etc etc... It was explained here before why it all happened the way it did, but still, it happened, brought tensions to the group etc. Twice coming right after Miss A, the company obviously wanted to push all the members equally, and the best way to do it was to avoid individual schedule as much as possible. The downside with that is that kpop groups are short lived, getting individual schedules, be it OST songs, modeling, acting, variety: it shows a member's strong points and helps the member gear towards a solo career once the group career will be over. As much as I love Twice, I do feel it's time for them to start promoting a bit less as a group and a bit more individually. Some members are bound to fall back in popularity, but it's unavoidable and sometimes it's not the ones you expected who end up doing best solo (Jia in China, Sunmi for WG when everyone expected Sohee...). I don't think we should expect Twice treatment for this group, because most of the members already come with an individual following that is already uneven (Somi having a very strong individual fandom, Ryujin a fairly big one, the Lily/Eunsoo/Chaeryeong/Sieun/Yune/Yeji have a fair share for those who will make the group), they would benefit more from being pushed individually or in pairs than as a whole group. Right now, if you send them on a variety, Somi will steal the spotlight, not on purpose, but she will be much more at ease (from her experience) and the GP love her so the cameras will stay on her longer than on the rest of the members. It's sort of unavoidable, just like it does for Sejeong with Gugudan. If they are pushed individually, it will split the fandom to some extent, but it will give the opportunity for other members to rise beside Somi, and in the long run, the group would definitely benefit from that more. That's just a personal opinion though and also why I think Eunsoo, Sieun or Lily would do well in the group without necessarily putting their acting career on hold for 7 years or not realeasing solo songs^^'

Hi fam Little OP update to add Gaeun and well, sort of exclude Yerim and Yujin until further news I do plan on updating the 2nd post with something that will take time, so please bear with me until then ^^' Also: small reminder that the individual threads of Soyeon and Soomin are in heavy need of a new OP. I think Madeline has become inactive on OH, and Statics said before that he/she doesn't have time to OP anymore. If you feel like taking over either thread, go for it! It's a shame our 2 most popular girls have old/dead OPs

Hi and welcome here, these are a lot of questions you could answer by backtracking a little, but let's help you out Current list of known trainees: JYP trainees are known to have a public showcase twice a year, one smaller in February and the bigger scale one usually in August. It's an opportunity for trainees to stand on stage in front of a real audience (not just staff or family) and an opportunity for JYPE to test out what teams work well, which ones should be changed etc etc. Every showcase, there is a leak of who is participating (not all trainees do usually) with their pictures and which teams etc: Basically golden source of trustful information for us hungry fans who are waiting. As for the OT5: a very public and not hidden appearance of Yeji, Jisu, Somi, Ryujin and Chaeryung at Twice's concert started the rumor: Click here to view the Tweet There are more trainees who went to the concert, but they went on a different day and there is no picture, while these 5 didn't hide, went together with a manager, let people photograph them...
-
I don't expect Somi in the showcase, so not sure about OT5 performing really... When 6mix was about to debut, they stopped participating in showcases. There has been both occurences tbh, I'm not sure what to expect
-
Somi, Yeji, Chaeryeong, Ryujin and Jisu are the OT5 believed to be the final lineup because of public appearances together.
-
If she left, as in wasn't asked to leave but decided to leave, definitely not the best decision for her imo. 3-4 years from now, when the next group will debut, she would still be young enough to debut (she'd be 18-19 y/o) and JYP ggs are almost certain to do well if not very well... PD48 would have been a great option as well, especially with a 2.5 year contract, but the timing probably didn't fit.Part of me was looking forward to the visual slayage a group with Yuna S., Yuna A., JiaYu and Yunjin would have, but I guess the lineup will still change a lot until then. Wishing her all the best if she did leave...
