  1. If there is one thing we have all learned from 6Mix and Pink Punk (and Lovelyz until not so long ago), is that if you stan a pre-debut group, anything can happen. Members come and go. That's how it works with trainees. No matter how attached you are to some trainees, they are just trainees and they can be cut or leave at anytime until the group's official debut. I'll be sad if Shiyoon and Chaewon (or others) are not part of the final lineup, but if that's what happen, I'm sure there was a reason and it has to be for the best.
  2. BAY... She has to do some project at some point, they can't keep her at 1 OST every 3 months, can they?
  3. Working hard in the studio, no time for SNS? (It's a supposition, I don't know. I only hope that's it)
  4. Shiyoon and Chaewon were part of baby kara and will forever be. And both can still be DSP girls even if they are not part of the group project. They can stay in DSP while going other routes (acting or solo) or they might be part of another project than the other 4. But anyway, all of it is speculation. We won't know until DSP officially releases something.
  5. We have the same top 2 Made up. Where are Lee Hi, Epik High and AKMU? And CL will be in the US for a while I think, I don't see her or 2NE1 having activities in Korea at all next year, only Dara/Minzy/Bom as solos. I was wondering if it was her, how did you figure it out?
  6. I guess you're right, because Winner has the fans who will buy anything Winner-related. But I think AKMU is more appreciated by the general public and sells extremely well digitally, which means they could go on more variety shows and have more cf's to compensate... And Chanhyuk produces, if he starts selling his songs, that would make yet another source of income for YG (though I'm not sure if contract wise that's how it works, or if it's only for Chanhyuk then) ================================================== Makes me wonder, if you had the talent and went to Kpop Star, what company would you want? (generally speaking everyone in this thread^^)
  7. I didn't say it clearly, sure it makes sense to focus on the high-selling groups. What I meant was that they should develop the others to become high selling/popular too. If you look at solo artists like IU (I'm not saying other names because she's the only one I'm sure of but there are popular solo singers out there who are not idols and who might not go on weekly music shows but who sell just fine anyway), you can promote someone solo to sell as much as a group. Instead of having a huge group who makes 60% or more of your income, why not have them only at 30-40 and 1-2 others at the same level? Then if one group/solo gets in a scandal/is sick or hurt/goes to military, you're not completely in a pinch. JYP (used to) give only his songs whether idol or not. It changed only recently... I don't think it's much more work to write a song for BAY rather than 2pm. But BAY was managed by AQ and not JYP until recently, it was a little different back then so yeah... That's that. JYP might be too caring with his artists though, he doesn't overwork them, I wonder if that's why they don't appear everywhere in times of promotion like SM's does. You just have to see what is happening with G-Soul. With JYPE's influence, if they wanted, G-Soul could be on every show that accepts guests. But he is barely anywhere... In YG, I think YHS said something about only being very present in the first years, then he lets artists do their thing. Which means probably soon, Lee Hi basically will have to find producers for herself. It's only a matter of how involved and motivated she gets. The problem is that YHS has to approve everything and he is not only a perfectionist, he is picky... Which is why he is successful, but also why people in YG have less comebacks than in other agencies. If he decides it's not time for Lee Hi just yet, than he won't let her come back even if her album is ready and good. It has to be perfect not only in content but in timing of the release... That's why we don't see her :( Lol, just made me think that this is something changing this season with Lee Jina and the other singer-songwriters on the show (The ones I call YHY special contestants xD They're so obviously indie and coming because he is here)
  8. Exactly^^ If Lee Hi goes on a show she's a star, if BAY goes on a show she's in the back or her name is barely mentioned (or she suddenly magically becomes a Miss A member). Don't get me wrong, I'm annoyed at YG putting Lee Hi back in the dungeon for so long as well, but even so you can't compare their level of popularity and fame. Plus Lee Hi did 1234, It's Over, Rose and I'm different (in a unit but still performed and promoted) which were all super popular. Digital single, album, digital single. And Lee Hi is getting that attention lately, her comeback can't be far now, and I think it will be a whole album again. Seems like YG likes his whole albums now for his non-idol acts (I don't think he considers Lee Hi nor AKMU idols). Meanwhile BAY had Sad Song, and A Good Boy. 2 minis. So frustrating. In the end, both should have had much more, we agree on that... Both agencies focus way too much on their biggest groups (2PM & Big Bang, slowly shifting towards Got7 & Winner/iKON) instead of having a diversified "portfolio" of high-selling artists. On a business level, I don't even understand how this can make the most sense to them...
  9. It's the lack of activity that's a problem for BAY. When an artist has no promotion in over a year, and is still considered more or less a rookie when going on TV after over 2 years even though she is from a big agency, then it's a management problem. BAY debuted in September 2012 with Sad song (+mini album I'm Baek). Her following mini-album was in June 2013, A Good girl. Nothing since then. Nothing in 2014... For a freaking rookie... Her only activity is OST songs (she's done 6 since her debut), and though OST songs can chart well but they don't get promoted. And even her last OST is from August 2014... I know JYP wants to take care of his artists well and release only good music, but at this rate, he is going to make a second JOO. JOO just left JYP at the end of her 7-year contract. She's promoted exactly 5 songs in those 7 years, and has done 6 OSTs, and has had a minor role in Dream High. That's got to be a record ... But at least she was in some musicals. Sorry I can rant a lot about BAY. She was my bias over Lee Hi and Jimin in Kpop Star season 1. I was so happy she was picked up by JYP, her debut song was awesome to me, and since then it's been disappointment over disappointment. She is managed so poorly...
  10. That Shiyoon isn't in wouldn't be too surprising, but Chaewon? I guess it makes sense because style-wise she's very different compared to the other 5, but I like Chaewon... DSP could have an incredible vocal line with Somin, Sojin and Chaewon, and a good dance line with Chaekyung,Yooji, Somin and Sojin.
  11. Hong Chanmi, the one with the short hair, was the very first contestant, she got in thanks to YHY's wild card. In the ranking audition she ranked second to last but YHS this time saved her because he wanted to see more of her (and YHY saved Lee Seola(/Sulla/Seora? the one who sang mother) so the whole group went through). They didn't air her first group audition (don't know why since apparently the judges were impressed enough to even keep the group as it was!) and now they aired their second group audition. The other 2 never appeared so far, they said in their individual interview that they were sure the only one with a chance was Chanmi since she at least appeared on TV before. I think the boy was good too, the younger girl a little less. I would have preferred a solo casting tbh, I do believe Chanmi can become a dark horse. I really hope she does, she's one of my favorites
  12. After Big Bang... Didn't they just announce their comeback for the summer? Knowing YG it'll be earliest August, more like Sept/Oct. So 2015-year-end-YG-rush? I'll say the last act of 2015 (and I'm crossing my fingers it'll actually be earlier...)
  13. I keep thinking it's so sad to see her interact in groups... Like that Dream Team episode where she performed as if she was a member of Miss A. And then the team's name was also "Miss A" instead of "Miss A & Baek Ah Yeon"... It's like her name means so little they don't mention her. Basically showed BAY just had a bad timing, had she joined JYP in 2010 instead of 2012, she would probably naturally have been added to Miss A. Age-wise she fits right in, and Miss A would have that powerful vocal they're kinda missing.
  14. Worst comes worst, couldn't he just release him like he did for Winner? Basically get them out of the way, release an album/mini and ship them away to Japan or China. If he realizes they hit big home, he could re-promote them in Korea? The longer he waits, the bigger the expectations, the higher the risk of disappointment and failure. It's getting frustrating... And I still can't believe YG just wasted January away... I had high hopes after we saw so many releases at the end of 2014. If only one of the girl could produce, maybe things would get moving faster for them? YG likes self-producing acts. AKMU wasn't promoted as much as his idol groups, but at least they released stuff because he knows they're good and they deliver without him needing to get involved too much. Then again, KSY and B.I. produce too, didn't help so much in terms of speed of releases.
  15. I had the same impression xD I think it's because she has long legs and because in later episodes she was seen a lot either with the Shorties or Bae Minah, and anyone would look tall next to them ...
  16. Solo but she's supposed to be in a girl group too. They organised the debut a little like Lovelyz, Euna and Minjoo from that have debuted solo, and now the group is coming under the name The Ark (unless they've changed it)
  17. Agreed and disagreed. It could make sense to put Sana back in the Japan team if they decided to add 2 new members they don't want to separate, I'm thinking about Chaeyeon and Chaeryeong... Just a thought thrown in there, I don't think they're even in the right age-range, I just thought about it while reading your comments.
  18. I'm sad too, I thought at least Tonight would earn them recognition, it was an awesome song! But no... I wish they could finally get their big break without a "fancam" but because of their talent or thanks to a good song. Btw hi, I don't think I posted here before, been lurking for a while ^^'
  19. I thought about it too, but if this ever was ever the plan, than that was back in 2012... Atually in 2012 she was meant to be part of SuPEARLS so... Now Lee Hi has debuted for too long already to be added to a group. Her popularity would be too big compared to the others, and there wouldn't be space for the others in the fandom. I don't want a "Lee Hi and the girls" kind of group... But I agree that Lee Hi seemed very cheerful while promoting with Suhyun, she was really enjoying herself.
  20. Seo Ye An was acknowledged from the get go for her complete lack of dancing skills... She did this years funniest because her dancing was so awkward. Considering YG has at least one very good dancer (maybe 3 since Jennie and Jisoo have been named as dancers too if I remember well), I don't think she would fit in the GG, or at least not without postponing the girls for a while to train her... I also think the lineup must be pretty much final unless one girl drops out.
  21. I don't think Shin Jihoon would want that. I don't think she can handle an idol's schedule on top of skating, if she still skates... Plus she really is a loner, back in Kpop Star she already seemed like one and wasn't put into groups much or anything. But it would be interesting, I want her to promote more, I love her voice.
