  2. I was just giving a normal response to a normal question. Sorry if it came across as anything different. And Sohyang does not have more power than LSH, don't know where you got that. But I agree they're both great singers. I personally don't find Sohyang's voice emotional, but I can feel her energy when she gives it her all in her upbeat gospel songs, and I like that.
  3. It's okay! I don't expect many people to know of her outside of her home country. Lol I linked the Babs and Whitney covers here before, so it should be a few pages back. I can link some performances here or pm you later (I'm on my phone now lol). EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25F2vPO_uSQ A performance from her recent concert.
  4. Well, I totally disagree with you about her abilities. She is still just as good as she was thirty years ago, and she still retains all of her youthful power. If you only listen to OST songs, that's why you don't know. Her recent thirtieth anniversary concert was complete slayage, and her Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand covers from last month are stellar. By the way, Lee Sun Hee is Kpop, so that's why I said her over Ailee. She's just older Kpop.
  5. Why do you think so? What's your evidence? LSH has much more than a "nice" voice. She also has stellar technique and abilities.
  6. Best: Lee Sun Hee Worst: I dunno, maybe Park Bom lol
  7. Kpop Vocal Queen Going to her concert in nine days.
  8. Someone who only cares about technique and not emotion.
  9. Some people just see skilled singers as technicians.
  10. Don't feed the troll, people. Arguing with someone who clearly doesn't know what s/he's talking about only makes the people here look worse. As long as you're confident in your musical background, it doesn't matter if you're a professional or unprofessional or whatever. This is, after all, a forum where people come to learn and enhance their knowledge of vocal technique and share their thoughts with a community that's interested in vocals. Especially after all the negativity that was thrown at the vocal analysis blog on soompi, I think it's better just to ignore haters here. Now, on to something vocally relevant, Sumi Jo really has a beautiful voice. I don't know why some people say she has no emotion.
  11. ì´ì„ í¬ won first place in this televised ranking of Korean vocalists. And in Mnet's Legend 100 Vocals ranking.
  12. Well, I can understand your point of view, too. Sorry for the confusion. But I didn't think they were THAT good in those performances (but I did watch it at 3am with low volume, so I'll rewatch them later). What I was really thinking about last night was Aretha's hardcore bombing on American Idol. And I'd seriously JUST read an article about her vocal decline, so maybe I was a little too harsh on her.
  13. Whatever. I'd literally found the video 3 minutes before I posted it, so I was still fanboying over it. If people can't accept that I didn't mean it as a real comparison after stating it a billion times, that's not my fault. The only comparison I made was after someone else brought up Patti and Aretha in their 70s, and I'm not even the one who brought it up. And if Patti and Aretha ARE that good, I'd happily admit it with evidence, but I really couldn't care to see any now. I didn't post and LSH video to see a bunch of Aretha videos, even if she is the Queen of Soul.
  14. To me, someone stating "Aretha Franklin at 72, Patti Labelle at 70" came off as quite rude because (in my mind) "Who else can sing like this at 50" seemed an obvious expression and not a real comparison. Considering my "reputation," it seemed more like people wanted to blast something I said rather than participate in a meaningful discussion of elite vocalists past the age of 50. On that same note, one can't just say they are THAT good at 72 and 70 without putting evidence, but why is it necessary? Everyone's acting like victims and going on the offensive, when I really meant it JUST AS A COMPLIMENT. Nothing more.
  15. Whatever. Every time I post something in this forum, it's taken in a negative way. I don't think Patti and Aretha are THAT good still, but I know they're still good, and seriously what I said was just a compliment, not a put-down.
  16. I'm actually not confused. I said (again, not as a put-down, but as a compliment) "who else can sing like this at 50"; I received responses that Aretha and Patti could sing just as well as 72 and 70, not that they could sing well. And I know they could still slay hardcore in their 50s. That's why I made the post about being uptight. People just seemed to be taking it too seriously.
  17. I said they weren't that good at 70. Not that they weren't past 50. Maybe you're confused, but I meant nothing in a rude way.
  18. Obviously many professional singers can sing well past 50. Don't be so uptight. It was meant as a compliment for an excellent singer, not as a put-down to other talented singers.
  19. Yes. She also did a Barbra Streisand cover, but only 21 seconds of it are on YouTube. lol But she performed it about 10 years ago, too. lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXjL24azSQ4 Here's the Babs cover from a few weeks ago, and here's the one from about ten years ago. Sadly, the actual video was removed. ã… ã…

  21. In celebration of this year's World Cup, here's a wonderful vocal performance by ì´ì„ í¬ of Korea's national anthem ì• êµê°€ for the 2002 World Cup.
