Besides the Produce effect, there are just too many groups and too many comebacks/debuts. The market is saturated, it's been like that for a while and it's hard for groups (especially boy groups) to have hits. For example, last week I was listening to TXT's Blue Hour and it's such a cute, catchy song that I could definitely see it becoming a hit with the general public if it was released a couple of years ago but it's 2020 and people only know and listen to established groups.

The sub-unit thing would just be a title to make the fans feel safe about Irene not leaving. If they have a proper comeback without Irene I'm sure many would be worried SM is getting rid of her so naming it as a sub-unit might be a better way to approach it.
-
Make Irene have a mini hiatus to "reflect", meanwhile give the 4 girls a comeback as a sub-unit and let Irene come back later with a public apology and proper media tour to rehab her image. Despite my feelings about her and what she did, Irene is a valuable member for the fans and the girls shouldn't pay for what she did.

kpop mysteries #2 - Jessica Mic drop exit from SNSD
sinnfb replied to HRH Ayyu's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
My speculation is on money being the biggest issue. All the SNSD members have endorsements on their own and solo activities in general so IMO Jessica with Blanc & Eclare, creating a brand in her own terms, would end up making more money and have more creative freedom than the other girls and they were obviously not here for that. I'm not saying it's a case of jealously but a case of contract negotiations going bad. -

I'm so impressed by how he sounds in this. The song itself is nice, nothing that made me go wow but I liked it and I'm really happy he worked on his singing because it was the only needed for his solo to be perfect since he always had star quality.
-
Maybe it's because most of the groups I listen to are from YG (lol, in fact it's quite likely) but I'm okay with the promotions so far. They just debuted and considering SM's track record, it's likely they will have a comeback and more content soon. I don't think they will ever be treated as a top priority like NCT but I do believe they are at least near the top of the list of SM priorities so I'm optimistic.

Info about AESPA potential future members
sinnfb replied to Lubbin's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
I agree with the sentiment SM should've debuted them as 7 right away if that was the plan all along but I don't think this will be another Yeri situation as long as the girls prove themselves to be talented and add something to the group performance-wise -
Things you thought before æspa debuted vs now?
sinnfb replied to KentasGlittery EyeMakeup's topic in Random
I'm very happy about the debut. I was a bit worried the song would be SM Performance style so I'm more than glad to be proven wrong. I don't love it and it's not an iconic debut song like ITNW, Boombayah or Fire are to me but it's fine, catchy and has the repeat factor. About the girls, I liked all of them but I feel like we need to see them on stage to have a proper opinion of their charisma since the MV had a lot of things going on. The fact all of them can sing is great though. I feel like it would be fine if the group stays as it is but I wouldn't be opposed to adding 3 more members (assuming they are talented and add something to the group) because I had expectations of them being SNSD successors and while 9 members might be too much, 7 seems like a perfect number. -
The song itself is decent but the girls sell it well and it's definitely a solid debut. Also, I'm so glad all of them are good singers and there's no filler member who's just there to look pretty.
-
It looks like it's going to be high budget MV but I'm a bit disappointed because it feels like Blackpink 2.0 and you would expect more creativity from SM
-
If she sounds good and is charismatic then her not being this amazing dancer IMO is a non-issue. That said, if SM choose to showcase her dancing in the teaser you would expect this is the area she excells at, which is a bit worrisome and doesn't make much sense since I've seen a pre-debut video of her and her voice seems lovely. I wonder though if it has to do with the notion the visual/face member of the group has to occupy a dancer role.

[TheQoo] Something that a lot of people wish SM would make again.
sinnfb replied to Lee's topic in Netizen Nation
I don't miss the innocent concept at all but I do miss public friendly music from SM. At least Red Velvet is getting a bit of it with Psycho, Bad Boy etc but poor NCT will never hit it as big as their seniors as long as they keep releasing experimental title tracks. Hopefully the new girl group won't go into the same direction. -
This is so good. It's the perfect mix of a more mature sound/concept and what made their early songs so catchy.
-
I liked all the teasers but this is the best one by far because you can actually see what the member can do besides following a choreography. It makes me wonder though if Winter and Karina are good singers because we haven't heard anything from them yet... hopefully the vocals won't rely solely on NingNing and the group is well-rounded.

See, considering LSM's fascination with Japan's idol system and how SM never cared about protecting their idols from sasaengs (but in fact encourages their behavior) I think this virtual girlfriend simulator is exactly what he's aiming for. Still I think it's possible to be irked by it and fascinated at the same time because even though there's this very, very disturbing possibility, if it's used and seen in a healthy way it might be fun for the fans since it's a different and creative way to receive content.
-
The AI thing seems like just another way for the the fans to connect with their idols. They can have stickers, emojis, "interact" with the avatars and create their own fanfiction with them... Idk, it doesn't seem that complicated to me. I do think though that it might become a tool for creepy fans because they might actually believe they are in a relationship with one of the girls.
-
Bless the fact she knows how to produce catchy and public friendly pop music. I can't stand the SM Performance type of sound and it would be such a waste if the girls debuted with a song like that.
-
Loved this. It looks like aespa is SM's answer to the girl crush concept.

sinnfb replied to Your Biggest Fan's topic in Celebrity Photos & Videos
Yeah, I have the same impression. They don't have the typical SM girl-next-door look and the teasers look like something we've seen before from smaller companies. Also as much as I prefer groups with few members, I was expecting this group to be SNSD successor so it's a bit disappointing to see only 4 girls but we'll see if they will add more members with time.- 28 replies

SM refuses to comment on the Chanyeol situation

NetizenBuzz: SM Unveils Aespa's Third Member Ning Ning
sinnfb replied to Jtsmith1's topic in Netizen Nation
I feel like the iljin rumors about these girls are so specific that it's really hard to take them serious and clearly coming from a place of jealously. What happened with Lovelyz's Jisoo, for example, was so bad and people should really be careful about what they say.
