I'm definitely a CL stan. She's just the complete package you can get as a performer. And speaking of that, I have to chime on all this screaming nonsense that keeps cropping up around this board. Really? Screaming? Apparently the right thing for CL to do is to just let the backing track swallow up her voice. It just feels like nitpicking because CL has natural stage presence (she can do choreography, but she doesn't need every move choreographed to be compelling), can legitimately rap (have these detractors talking about 'screaming' ever listened to other rappers perform live?) and still manages to sing better than a lot of her peers. I posted about the concerns people had about it concerning her voice in the 2ne1 thread, but I honestly don't think her voice is being affected by it? It doesn't sound husky or anything. It could be that giving it your all is very physically demanding and can get tiring. I just roll my eyes at the detractors and concern trolls.

On the topic of voices, I'm not trying to bash anyone, just throwing out random theories and opinions. I've heard a handful of videos (Crush, If I Were You, this song) and I have to say that CL's voice itself sounds fine, but she's having issues with her pitch wavering from the lower side of the actual pitch to being legitimately flat. She could be tired, or not able to hear well through ear monitors to adjust. Or she can hear herself going flat but overcompensating by singing louder which is depressing the pitch even worse. Mind you, I agree, she's always screaming and that can wear one's voice. But, imo her voice doesn't sound huskier than usual so that's why I don't think it's the problem she's having in that video. My theory is a sound thing. Compare CL's sound to Minzy's, who is also singing slightly under the right pitch but she is able to correct herself.

I was thinking that the lip syncing thing was on purpose. Like they were so addicted to the virtual paradise world that they couldn't sync into reality, but that's probably reading way too much into it. But it definitely was my initial theory when I noticed people pointing it out.

New to the thread but I wanted to give my thoughts on the album: The album is exponentially more awesome in a car. With a subwoofer. Good headphones may be able to come close to the feeling (and I know there are subwoofer attachments to headphones), but man does this album go hard when you can really feel the bass drop. I like all the songs, but Happy is the one that I've been skipping so far. I haven't decided if I just don't like the song, but I do know that it doesn't fit. I get what YG may have been trying to do with the song position, but it reminds me of the most recent Grammys when Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons burned the entire stage down, and then Kasey Musgraves (sp?) shows up with a song that is really upbeat and twee (and yes I did pay attention to the lyrics so I know it's sort of satirical to any fans out there) and it's just such a switch from the intensely awesome thing that came before that you think "what the hell? what the hell is this?". So instead of a cooldown song, "Happy" felt more like cold turkey. And the intensely awesome thing? Yep, talking about MTBD which of course sounds *awesome* in the car. I was in the uni library, listening to the album, minding my own business and the song came on and I caught myself beginning to booty pop in my chair before I remembered I was in public (In the library, no less). I like it that much.

Haha, I had the same reaction when I saw Wha Sa. To me, she stood out the most in Peppermint Chocolate even with the ever-present glasses, but I definitely wondered why they were there even in the BTS stuff while they were not filming.

Hello, I'm a new member who decided to join as this seems to be the most active Mamamoo thread that I've seen so far. I come bringing possible news...I don't know Korean at all so I use google translate and you know how great that is~ I searched Mamamoo on twitter and saw this tweet https://twitter.com/WA_Mamamoo/status/437549462039195649 Yesterday, the Peppermint Chocolate MV was played at the end of Infinity Challenge and that gave Mamamoo a spike in the search rankings. But judging from the tweet and crappy google translate, I think it was also played during the "Real Man" show and it's getting another, (bigger?) spike. Which is great if that's the case! I hope to stick around and be active, I'm new to KPop and the Korean music charts so I'll definitely rely on OneHallyu to interpret them. And I think Mamamoo is something major, but I have a bias towards R&B/Soul music that they play directly to.
