  1. funny thing is... if this were a female idol, this forum would be defending the action to hell and back....

His apology seems legit, although I don't think he needed to apologize to begin with. Fans have no right to grab people. Contrary to what he said, he isn't a product for others' hands to get on.

Anyway, as mentioned a few times, this will blow over and won't affect his career whatsoever.

  2. I know this is going to be kind of stupid to ask,and I might get shaded for this . I know this is unlogically possible but is there a slight chance one of the Tasty twins is gay or whatever ? Not together because I know a lot of ppl like to ship them together.

Oh and no this doesn't sound illogical.

Usually if one is gay though, there's a good chance the other is too. Not together of course. That's just fans being stupid.

I'm 99% sure that ryeowook is gay

He was not in a dating rumor with hyungsik?

99% is a little strong don't you think?

Anyway, no. He never had an actual rumor with Hyungsik. At least, not one that I know of. They're very close friends and fans joked, started shipping them together. It wasn't even close to the level of the GunheexHeechul rumors, and those haven't even really become major rumors (probably because it's so obvious that it's boring to speculate about xD)).

But yeah.... I've never heard of any RyeowookxHyungsik rumors. I mean I think they'd be cute, but there's never been much more than just an affectionate hyung-dongsaeng relationship from what I could see.

Sorry but it just really annoys when people say they are anywhere more than 90% confident in someone's sexuality unless that person has outright said they are something other than straight. It's one thing to speculate and make guesses, but to really be confident of someone else's sexual-orientation is a bit.... I just don't like it.

  3. I think kpop gives fangirls this mindset this possession mindset. I never understood why people would want to read about them and their favorite idol a majority of the shippers for gay ships are straight girls. I read a article on if shipping helps lgbt or not . I think they'd rather see them with eachother then another girl. But then that's sexualizing them and using them for your fantasies. That's the problem kpop trys to sell a fantasy to the fan so they become delusional and unlogical. You can't deny that out of all the idols that no one is gay that's just logically impossible. I read the straight thread do they even need one ppl will say their straight anyways and they're not an oppressed minority group . There is no point to the straight thread I wish they would be more logical. If Korea was more excepting and ppl came out we wouldn't even need a gay/lesbian thread and we wouldn't have to speculate.

Bless you child. Yes to every word of this, hun.

  4. Yeah that's what I had meant, I don't think I could ever see him as an intimate/touchy feely type, but more emotionally driven.

Does anyone believe he is pansexual?

Eh that's a possibility too. Heck, I mean, anything's a possibility really xD

Either way, I don't think he's into a lot of physical touch. However, that doesn't mean he doesn't find people physically attractive so yeah....

I've been an ELF for a couple of years and I've never really considered Ryeowook until you guys started discussing him, and I agree with what has been said so far. I think that Ryeowook might be Asexual or just not interested in dating right now. I can't really see him with a girl, but at the same time I can't really see him with a guy. Idk, it's really confusing.

I can't believe I haven't really thought about his sexuality until now, but it kinda makes sense since I've just never really gotten a vibe from him.

Yeah, thats kinda the feeling I got. Like, I never really thought about it that much but someone asked me if I thought he was gay and I realized I couldn't lean in either direction for him.

    .

    how-2-Korea.blogspot.com/gossip-ryewook-is-gay.html?m=1

Hm, seems interesting. I don't know. I'm just surprised I haven't heard more about it but it could be legit. We may never know~

Thanks for the link though. ^^

guys i don't think its necessarily fair to say that all fangirls don't want their oppas to be homosexuals because it means they want to fuck them.

most realize the stigma and hate that comes with an idol being gay and they don't want to see the people they look up to get hated on by netizens. heck, some celebrities have even been forced out of the industry and have so much trouble dealing with the hate that they attempt suicide.

Hm, I think that may be the case for a few but it sounds like a minority. I just know that whenever someone talks about their idol not being gay, it tends to be the same fans who read all the youxbias fics and like those scenarios of how 'oppa' would act on a date with 'you'. It's just what I've seen so in no way is it statistical evidence.

I agree though that we shouldn't generalize and say that it is the case for 'all' of the fangirls who don't want their bias to be gay. I think it could also have to do with what you said. Furthermore, a lot of the fans are still very young and have been raised in religious homes where being gay is the same as being evil.

isn't it the same with korea? I remember reading that some kings during former korean dynasties used to have male lovers (wich would explain movies like frozen flower) and that there were the so called flower boys (not talking about the current term) wich also had same sex relations

Actually, this was common practice in BCE Western areas as well. Before Christianity's weird sexual beliefs (I'm referring to the religio-cultural movement here not the actual tenants of the Bible, so please do not think I am belittling a faith), started turning mainstream, important figures were rather expected to have young boys as play things. Even many early Christian rulers (and probably some later ones) had young boys among their possessions. It wasn't seen as this thing that made people hate them, but just a strange quirk to a lot of people.

But yeah, I think Asian rulers have had more prominent male-male affairs (as in more openly accepted and possibly respected) in the Common Era than Western rulers.

This was totally OT and I don't know why I just wrote it but yeah.

  5. Why do you think Ryeowook is asexual?

It's just a thought that sorta stuck with me. I've never seen him as showing anything that looked like genuine attraction to males or females .

Most of us here are gay men or lesbians with some bi and straight people thrown in for flavor :hoplz:

I don't think any of us harbor any illusions of a romantic future with our idols. Fantasies perhaps, but no delusions

So really it makes no sense to lump us in with delusional fans who only want their idol to be not straight because it means "well if I can't have them at least they're untainted by another man/woman".

Honestly though I think the numbers are much higher than most people are willing to consider, even in this thread. Taking all factors into consideration I would guess at least on average one per group is not straight, maybe more (and by "not straight" I'm including bi and pan, not just exclusively gay). A lot of people seem to think that's a really high number, but it's actually a conservative estimate lol

(Of course this means that several groups will have multiples while some groups will have none)

Even among average open-minded people it seems like there's a lot of mental disconnect. I asked somebody once how many people she thought were gay/etc in Korea and she gave the standard 10-15% response "just like everywhere else", then I asked her how many she thought were gay in kpop and she was like "I don't know probably a few" like girl there are more than 20-30 kpop artists in existence, you need to check your math  :derp:

People don't like to apply it to real people, it makes them uncomfortable for some reason  :._.:

I don't think most of them actively dislike the idea of homosexuality, I think they just dislike the idea of oppa being homosexual because it means their odds of getting married (or at least fucking) are completely gone (as if they ever existed in the first place).

I agree with most of what you said. I'm too lazy to go into a lengthy discussion about statistics, but I definitely agree that people fail to realize that these statistics are real. And I also implied bisexual, pansexual, asexual, etc. when I said 'not straight'.

As for people on this forum being homophobic, I guess I mean it more in the literal sense. I feel like a lot of people are afraid of homosexuality. It's like 'oh, my bias can't be gay' because that means the person I look up to is different than I am. I don't know how to explain it. @_@ I'm sorry.

I could see Ryeowook being asexual, he doesn't really ping to me as straight or gay. I am an ace myself, and I kinda get a vibe from him that intimacy with either gender just wouldn't be his thing.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, maybe he's just a more reserved person about those things, but it's just an odd hunch I've had.

Besides, I've read some studies that support the claim that Asia has a higher percentage of asexuality compared to the rest of the world, so I'm sure a few idols are actually asexual as well.

i don't think asexuality means you can't be gay or straight romantically.

I think by 'intimacy' they meant sexual intimacy, and physical touch.

i'm still not over the last gif

Imma have to start following this kid.

If anything it's 95% of fangirls who want their oppars to be straight. They'll deny it though...

I'm starting to think that's true. Or, homophobes.

    .

I'm not sure if it's true but I found a site that said he was spotted(Ryewook) was spotted at a gay bar there was a translation and it told what his fangirls thought about it ,they thought the person who asked them about it was crazy and denied it.

I've never heard that rumor :/

I've mentioned before that I think Wook is asexual, but I wouldn't be surprised if he swung in either direction, or both.

Do you still have the link to that site and translation?

  7. Thinking that there are no gays in the K-Pop community is so ignorant. For some reason, some people just seem to believe that being gay isn't a thing in Asia, it's ridiculous. I understand the fangirl/fanboy mindset, but if they really loved/respected the artist, then they'd respect their personal choices and preferences, and would only wish the artist's happiness and well-being.

    It's heartbreaking.

I agree so much with this you have no idea.

People get mad because they think that everyone in this thread wants their oppar to be gay so they don't end up with another girl. Or they want the idol to be gay because they themselves are a gay male.

I'm a lesbian so neither of these fit me, and it realllllly irks me that people can't see... maybe it's just common sense to assume that about 1/10-20 male kpop idols is probably not straight.

Gonna hold back from the long rant but yeah this is just something I totally agree with and needed to say so.

  8. Well i said sometimes

rumors i''m referring is to is about a girl who claim that her father works in the entertainment industry and that it a well known fact that woohyun is gay. Which could be possible, i'm sure a lot of people in the entertainment industry know about this kidn of stuff but they just dont talk about, hence why the camera man asked woohyun and key about the taiwan joke

Actually I just stumbled across something and was about to mention that. Apparently that's not the first time Mnet has asked questions along those lines.

I mean, I wouldn't doubt that people know if he's gay. And the information about the girl is new (yet obviously suspect).

Thanks for answering me though. ^^

  9. Well especially the way he takes poses for a photo

And also woohyun has gay rumors in korea

    tumblr_ms37j4ziWD1rhrjyco1_500.png5TQs3Il.jpgtumblr_ms37nmqDHy1rhrjyco1_500.png

    waut wait what

I haven't been a fan of his for long at all.

    actually that's the first time i've admitted i'm a fan =u=

So, like... what do you mean he has gay rumors in Korea? I mean I totally believe considering the way he carries himself.

However, I still think Sungjong is more effeminate in his actions. (Like I said, I think he's asexual though.)

Still, you've got my attention. What are these rumors that you are referring to?

  10. I also follow them and i think at least 1 or 2 other member, myungsoo and woohyun

    This so much actually.

I mean I kinda think Sungjong might be asexual if I'm being honest. However, I wouldn't be surprised if he was gay.

For some reason, Myungsoo and Woohyun have always made me double-take more often than Sungjong, despite the latter's more stereotypically feminine mannerisms that everyone points out.

I'm usually skeptical about believing half a group is gay, but those three.... PING PING PING.

I think Sungyeol’s pretty much down for anything if he’s attracted to the person; I get the feeling that gender doesn't matter to him too much judging by certain things he's said and the way he interacts with people.

Wow! Okay, I actually really agree with this and am surprised someone else thinks the same way. Totally thought people would call foul if I ever brought it up.

Like you said, I don't think he really cares much.

  11. Korea's idea that homosexuality is something you grow out of is really frustrating. It's not, it's just something you grow to hide in cultures like that  :omgwtf:

It's not just Korea that thinks that way.

That's why there's that whole 'lesbian in college' stereotype in the U.S. People assume that it's just just kids pushing boundaries. Which, yes, sometimes it can be that. However, that's really harmful in the end to just throw that on everyone .__.

    -

Also.... so Heechul says he likes 'girls' with nice legs. I can't help but think of Gunhee in those short shorts and always getting caught in just his underwear. I wonder if Heechul makes him walk around without pants so he can stare at his legs all the time. @_@

    -

As for this Soohyun/Jokwon thing... the more I read about it, the more I hope they will secretly end up together one day. TT

If this has happened before, I'm wondering if there will be another like this one in the future. I hope that whoever is involved (if indeed the scandal is true) will be people capable of dealing with all of the crap that comes with that.

However, I wonder if Korea has somewhat matured on this topic since then. I feel like if that were to come out now, there would be a much more mixed reaction considering how much more spotlight the issue of equal treatment for LGBT individuals has gotten in the past few years.

  12. You found it!  :omg:

Man, it's worse than I remember. That really does seem like they were dating........

I don't know how it got leaked, but they confirmed it as real and just brushed it off as them being young and enthusiastic or some BS...

It's quite ridiculous how many times a person's feelings for someone of the same sex has been brushed off as just that.

    -

    And wow those texts though....

and whoah i just looked up stuff about that scandal. I thought you guys were exaggerating by mentioning that it was a rumor but apparently it was actually something that caught people's attention. As in... it got so bad that they actually addressed it (well Jo Kwon did sort of).

But yeah... I've never been more convinced of a gay rumor in my life. That's just...

  13. And here's the trans for that instagram update:

[TRANS] @HeeZZinPang : Slow-witted and child-like Gunhee who squeezes in between on his parents bed and says "I'm going to sleep here today!!". Guo Xue Fu & Gunhee & Heenim

rofl this sounds like some sort of inside joke. I don't know why but it really amuse me.

I feel like Gunhee has indeed been there for the filmings and is probably just as close to Puff as Heechul is now. XD

    --

and oh my god gunhee's video

    puff's laugh is cute ;3;

  14. Wow. That photo says it all. Gunhee sitting between Heechul and his "wife"

I feel like they're trying to say something.

The girl would know, wouldn't she? I don't know much about her...

I'm assuming she knows. She's a Taiwanese pop idol and people here tend be much less in denial about that kind of stuff. So, if Heechul and Gunhee didn't come out and say it to her directly, she probably guessed as much. However, I'm assuming she's professional and came into the show without any expectations toward her filming partner anyway.

  15. I don't think they look that cold next to each other. I think they look like two people who are modeling and are told to take pictures together. It's not making me buy that Key is straight or anything. I just watched the press conference and honestly she described him as being like a brother at one point. This show for them is going to be a girl and her new gay best friend hanging out. That's it. It'll be cute, I think.

Heechul is totally making this WGM thing a lot more awkward than it needs to be.

I feel like the only one in this thread looking at the whole thing positively though.

Anyhow, yeah, I'm sure that both girls know about their partner's actual orientation to be honest. The show isn't real anyhow.

However, I just watched the press conference and Heechul is pushing it so hard. It's so wierd. I can't place my finger on it, but it felt wrong. Whereas Key was low-key and chill and stuck to the point, Heechul was just...odd.

I mean, I don't care if he's on the show really. I just find it too awkward to watch.

It's mostly that I really don't want to hear some of the ignorant crap that will come from fans after this.

But no I 100% agree about him being a bit too strange. Like you said 'pushing it'.

I don't know what his deal is, but it's almost like he's trying to make a scene. I have no idea what scene it is though.

I went in there with feeble hopes of people having decent, well thought out conversation... but it basically ended up as an "oppa/noona is straight because I said so!" thread

Yeah, I mean, I should be used to the level of ignorance on this forum by now, but it never ceases to amaze me how people think they can excuse anyone's differing opinion with 'oh you just think that way because you're a fangirl/fanboy who doesn't want them with someone else'.

It also has a bit of the 'straight pride' feeling to it for me. blech

  16. i think ive just had the most deluded conversation ive ever had in my life lol

So me and a couple of my friends were talking about kpop idols and we started naming who we thought was gay,the first person to pop up was Key,we both said "Key is Gaayyyy" her reply was "No,he's not!" so we asked her to explain the reasons why he isnt gay,her reply was " Well first off he's just a metro sexual and secondly he's gonna be on WGM"

    me and my friends :wth:

so then we said that heechul was gay,she goes "Heechul is Definitely not gay" lol so we said " there's rumors of him supposedly dating he's stylist Gunhee" her response "Gunhee isnt his styles, and SHE..is just a friend and there not dating but that already tells you since there rumors about him dating Gunhee(her) that he's straight" i couldn't stop laughing,i said "what Gunhee are you talking bout?" my other friend replied "There's more then one gunhee in korea" so we showed her pictures of Gunhee, and she just left lol

but she did agree that jokwon and kwanghee are gay lol

sorry for being a douche towards her,it was just to much lol

    I'm so dead at this.

That's not even delulu, it's just flat out incorrect.

And I love how her reason for people being straight was that they were going on WGM... wasn't Jokwon on WGM too?  :wth:

    --

And this whole 'let's have a guess who's straight in kpop thread' thing is really getting on my nerves more than it should.

but yeah totally cringing at Heechul's pics for this WGM thing...

Considering Gunhee went with Heechul for that trip they took for the filming, I'm assuming Puff knows what is going on and is just putting up face for everyone.  Kinda hope their ratings suck and it ends quickly though because everything looks too awkward to even be funny.

  17. I think acknowledging skinship and cultural differences is one thing, but there are even different cultural norms across America, what with the different states. So it's not like Westerners aren't used to differentiating between "cultures". Also, people underestimate how much of a guidance that instinct is. Yes there's skinship, but there will be things that ping your gaydar, and the more you watch skinship and learn people's personalities (who is playing up skinship, who comes across as gay or straight etc) the less relevant skinship becomes in making it hard to guess someone's sexuality. And skinship is only partly an indicator of someone's sexuality. Gay people are gay all over the world and while cultural differences may be confusing in the beginning, it only takes a while for your brain to adapt and learn the difference and put the differences aside.

So that's why I don't buy the excuse of "It's just skinship! You can't tell the difference because you aren't familiar with their culture!" Please.

Thanks for your input on Donghae. He seems like a cool guy. He definitely wouldn't be as close to Sehun, nor would Sehun want to be as close to him if he was so against gay people.

The bolded part is kind of what I was trying to say too xD

Yeah. Although idols obviously play up an image, fans watch them quite closely and can often see around that image after a while. It's not really that hard to tell the difference between fanservice and genuine actions, especially after following them for a while.

Yeah, Donghae's heart is the biggest part of him. He's too loving to really dislike anyone for something that doesn't harm others.

  18. Ohoho omg I wrote Sungmin. O.o I didnt want write him O.o Why did I write him O.o??!! I'm sorry for mistake lol :D

I wont talk about Siwon that much but I read other posts about him and I agree other people. To me he is gay but in denial (bec of his religion and homophobic father)

And Jaejoong... I think many people knows him even some "no-my-oppar-cant-be-gay" fans too.But it is like open-secret.There are many hints about him.(Not his cute or girlish side) Actually someone in this thread  explained him perfectly. (kremlindust jaejoong analysis) Maybe you saw her analysis??

Donghae and pansexual...Maybe you can be right O.o But I dont think he is definitely straight or definitely gay.

Rofl it's alright. No need to say sorry for your opinions anyway.

Besides, a lot of people think that way about Sungmin because of his pretty face and affection toward cute things so you wouldn't have been the first.

I really don't follow Jaejoong or Yunho enough to give an opinion but both are a hot topic here (especially Jaejoong from what I've seen).

As for Donghae, I find it hard to believe he is at either end of the spectrum. A lot of people think his childish personality is all an act, but from what I've seen over the years, he is indeed that incredibly immune to the idea that there are certain things people expect of others. I don't think he understands that some people look down on others for what they are attracted to. I mean he probably knows it happens but doesn't understand how or why that could be something to garner hate.

However, I must point out that he is also really religious. So, there is a possibility that he's been indoctrinated with certain ideas about sex. I dunno.

I will never forget them mentioning how he'd kissed Yunho and he said he really thought Yunho had the best lips. (like what)

Donghae is one of the strangest people I know of though so I really have no idea what's going on in that head of his.

And what do people here think of Donghae? He's really close friends with Sehun.

See above but yeah... I always forget about his friendship with Sehun. Actually, I've heard that Sehun really looks up to Donghae (which is funny because he's a five-year-old) and maybe if they've talked about things like that then Sehun feels really comfortable around Donghae.

As I've said, Donghae just seems to think very differently than most people.

And oh yeah, Heechul really dotes on Donghae more than any other members. I feel like Donghae, if not actually outright into guys himself, would be completely cool with those around him who are.  This might have something to do with why Heechul feels so much affection toward him. Donghae is really open with his feelings and also very kind in a childlike way, so he probably doesn't make judgements of others the way many adults do.

Young guys (as in HS and college) in Asia (more so in Korea, China and Japan) tend to show their affection toward their good friends in a more physical way than westerners. Lots of male students would hug their close friends, or link arms when walking, for no reason at all, whether it's at school; or on weekends when shopping together. Of course, that could certainly mean they might be romantically attracted to each other; but more times it's just culture. Me and my best friend often hold hands when we shop (we're both girls); while that is totally the norm in Asia. Here in the states we get looks from people, because that mean possibly mean we're involved in a romantic relationship. So I don't think skinship is a reliable way to tell someone's sexual orientation in the KPOP world. Some idols do so much fan service (not that I'm complaining hehe).

While skinship is real and fanservice is rampant, even some idols have been called out for their excessive skinship. I think some of it is getting carried away with that feeling of touching people (which is really comforting) and not actual attraction toward the opposite sex as a whole.

For example, I'm only attracted to girls sexually, but if a very close guy friend of mine who I felt very comfortable with were to cuddle with me or do all those little skinship things, I could see how that would become addictive after a while. It doesn't mean I want to have sex with guys or even with that guy, but if I had that personality toward physical affection, then maybe things would get carried away. (I actually hate touching and would set my friend's hand on fire if he did that shit but yeah.)

Anyway, try not to get too wrapped up in speaking for other countries and their cultures when it comes to skinship because of what you've read online.

(I hate being that person,) but I've lived in Taiwan for a bit now and the skinship between two friends of the same sex is very different from the skinship between two people who are obviously in a romantic relationship. I don't just mean kissing either. Sure, straight boys here hang all over each other and have no idea what a bubble is, but the way they do it has certain mannerism that are obviously indicative of their friendship being purely platonic.

  19. I believe Sungmin, Siwon, Jaejoong, Yunho and Heechul are gay.To me there is an interesting point. They looks very obvious to me but then suddenly they will always say "I'M NOT GAY!!" or "I LIKE ONLY GIRLS" almost frantically.

Maybe I'm wrong but it feels like  they are like "gay-man-in-denial"

Especially  Jaejoong and Siwon. You know how is Jaejoong :D But then he says "Nooo dont think this way"

They are gay to me but Donghae is maybe bi

I could see Siwon and obviously I agree with Heechul...

but I really can't see Sungmin as being gay.

I personally don't think Siwon is gay, but there are definitely people in this thread that do.

As for Sungmin, I just don't see it at all. Actually, contrary to what a lot of fans think, I think he's straight and probably a bit homophobic even.

As for Donghae, I think he's more 'pansexual' (I rarely use this term but it seems legit in his case). I don't think he understands or sees gender at all.

Also that Joon thing is a bit unsettling to me. I hope that if he really is attracted to men, his groupmates aren't truly suspicious and still treating him that way. Maybe they're completely ignorant and were just joking. It's still wrong but at least then it wouldn't have as much meaning behind it. It's no wonder idols don't want to come out when even their own group mates say such things.

Same with the CN BLUE thing.

  20. What's most telling isn't the laugh itself, but how they look at each other and the way Woohyun pushes him. The joke's clearly between them..

Oh yeah definitely. That's what I mean by 'awkward laugh'. Like that was in no way a normal laugh.

I'm wondering if they really did go to any gay bars here though. They are everywhere so it wouldn't be hard and from what I've seen, Taiwanese fans are rather respectful toward celebrity privacy. It wouldn't be that odd if they had went and no one took pictures.

Crap I wish I wouldn't have seen that video 'cause now I am too curious.

  21. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xtWbOvybFYc

He referred to Taiwan being the perfect place for them & Taiwan is known for being the most gay friendly Asian country, then they laughed, indicating that they know exactly what they're talking about. Anyways, just watch the vid. & read the comments & u'll know what i'm talking about.

    OH.

    Yeah.

That is very suspicious. Like, as you said, Taiwan is the gayest country ever. Haha, I could definitely see how that might mean something questionable considering the awkward laugh about it.

Lol and im probably the only one who thinks half of infinite is gay hahahah

Psh, I honestly have a difficult time being objective about their sexuality cause they all just radiate gay. But yeah, I have a strong feeling that at least three of them are nowhere close to straight and a couple others might would have already experimented.

  22. Just an observation:

Woohyun/Key said they always drink together. We know where Key drinks: gay bars.

& after that Taiwan thing, I'm getting convinced Woohyun may be gay.

Weird, cuz he didn't strike me as gay at all.

Lmao if that conversation was really not bs, & jonghyun said that its key who has the problem, even as a joke, thats pretty f'd up.

But I think Jong likes guys to some degree. Bi maybe.

Wait... what Taiwan thing? (haven't been a fan for long sorry)

If it includes Woohyun going to a gay bar in Taiwan, that means nothing since gay bars here are worlds more popular than regular bars. (Seriously non-straight sexualities/relationships are not even questioned in this country. So, the gay scene here is actually very trendy and tends to be in charge of the party scene.)

However, I personally think  hope Woohyun is GAYYYYYYYYYYYY but yeah.... I'm curious about this 'Taiwan thing'. Please fill me in~~

Seriously there isn't anyone in K-pop I have gayer hopes for than Woohyun.
