  1. Oh yeah, you see women almost naked in ads everywhere, straight couples this close to be having sex on camera, and it's all good. But as soon as two men are kissing, it's chaos everywhere. Hide your children, you never know, it might be contagious. Not sure about two women kissing. It is seen as an entertainment for the straights after all. The double standards...
  2. I wouldn't count on that. The trailer looks incredibly cringy. And if it IS gay, it's not going to be the same old joke. I sometimes wonder how HSC can be okay with being used as a joke all the time. Like, yeah, okay, he probably wouldn't have any public career anymore if he refused. But it makes me sad. Also, I think I'm starting to really have issues with cross dressing as (only) comical relief these days (but maybe I'm just angry and stressed out, so don't mind me).
  3. The way I see it, there is an issue when talking about prejudice and hardships as some (many?) people think that asexuality doesn't bring you as many problems as being gay, lesbian or bisexual does. Which seems quite true (people get killed for being gay in some places after all). Nevertheless, although the LGBTQ* community is based in part on uniting against prejudices from society, I think it's not that right to exclude ace/aro people from the debate. Like, let's be honest here. I'm a bi/pan(?)sexual girl, not sure about romantic stuff, I'm really bad at it. But I live in a country where it's (mostly) fine, and most people around me are fine with it. At worst, my dad might not be very happy if I brought a girl home, but he wouldn't do anything against it. So do I suffer from being LGBT? Not really (not from people's hatred at least). Should I consider myself LGBT then? Well, that's a question I've pondered upon for a long while now. I don't experience prejudice (for now at least). So am I that different from ace/aro people? I don't know. But this thread, I think, is more about representation and less about prejudice (although it IS important too, especially when talking about the idol industry in Korea). We need representation. Gay, lesbian, bi/pansexual people need representation. Trans people too, but that's not about sexual orientation anymore (still relevant though. To this thread? Not sure. You tell me. I believe we talked about Jonghyun's reaction to trans people being discriminated against at length, and it was really nice... And now I'm sad again.). And yes, definitely, ace/aro people need representation too. So if you ask me, Minsung is a welcome subject here. But well...
  4. "Subtle" It reminds me of that Taemin-Kai-Krystal photoshoot. Edit: This
  5. I agree that Jaejoong is definitely not straight. But Samuel is also definitely not an adult. And Jaejoong is almost 32 (33 in Korea) so... I think (and hope, really) that Jaejoong is just trying to protect him because he went through this before as a young singer. I don't think there is anything sexual or romantic there. Jaejoong treats him like a baby.
  6. Whether it is really about him being gay (and it seems like it is, at least in part) or about something else, it's just so sad... (maybe even more at a time like this). "being cut over and over", "I wanted Army to feel my hurting"... That's really painful.
  7. Definitely! Changmin had an issue with Jaejoong, not with gay people in general.
  8. OT, kind of, but I wouldn't dare asking somewhere else... I'm sorry
  9. Hello, unlurking briefly (still in denial about being a fan... I definitely DON'T have time for this). They were not supposed to be so good, relatable, and educated... WHY?
  10. Now since we're on the topic of BTS, and since you all managed to make me a fan after months (okay, more like a year) of denial (and to say I was trying to escape from Kpop...). This is indeed a confusing group. And an interesting one (aside from the LGBT analysis too...) Stigma for me is obvious. Lie isn't. Stigma doesn't give leave much to interpretation (imo) while Lie could very likely be about the idol life, eating disorders or other mental illnesses... Not saying Jimin is straight (it seems quite unlikely to me although I might need more time to analyse everything), but I don't think that song is the key. I am the kind of person who thinks most people (like, more than 50%, not 95%) are probably bi/pan, but that lots of them will never acknowledge it or even be aware of it. I mean, it took me YEARS to realize I had been having crushes on some of my female friends. Even though I have a very open minded family, live in a very LGBT friendly environment, and have always had many LGBT friends... Also I'm a girl, and bi/pansexuality in girls is much more accepted (and known!) at least in my country. So I can only imagine how long it can take for a boy brought up in South Korea... So I'm not sure Jungkook would be aware that his crushes on IU on GD are similar (if they are, I mean, I'm not in his head!). I'm not sure RM would be aware of it if he is anything but straight (I have always been very vocal about my support to LGBT people, have read quite a lot of books dealing with it... BEFORE even starting to think I wasn't straight myself). Jin and Jhope are confusing to me. It's all about their stage persona, all about being "too much", playing a role... So I can't decide which parts are real. Taehyung, for me, could very likely be gay. Not even bi. But I'm not sure. At all. I'm just pretty sure he likes boys, like I'm pretty sure RM likes girls. Suga doesn't ping as anything (imo), but his words say a lot. I think there is a lot more to him than what he allows us to see too. Jimin... pings. But it's hard for me to pinpoint how exactly. Also, RM and Suga were part of the underground scene, that mocked them later for becoming idols and wearing make-up, so they might have learned not to show some things. And Jin, coming from a rich family, must have learned very early that appearances are important. Now about the ships... The thing is, BTS seems like such a tight-knit group that most of the ships are believable at times, if given the right video extracts, fan-accounts...etc And yes, at times, the three youngest are suspicious... It reminds me of Kai, who is very convincing with Taemin, but also with D.O., and at times could have given me doubts with other members (please, not now dear person who must not be named...). Jungkook's video in Tokyo was confusing... The song is very gay, the focus on Jimin smiling all the time too. But I'm not convinced. It could be a cover of the original MV, or just someone who likes his friend a lot?? It's almost "to good to be true", you know? Too in your face, too obvious, too easy... No idea. Ships are dangerous though. Especially when all of them kind of look not straight. Edit: Okay, it wasn't supposed to be that long... sorry
  11. Taehyung actually looks even more confused after RM translates the question, poor thing. They did well though.
  12. I thought he said "we" as in everybody, including armys... etc. But the interviewer repeated the same thing. So did he just imply that not all BTS members are straight? It would be huge, really.
  13. Heechul never disappoints. (watch until the very end )
  14. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Frozen_Flower (I think??)
  15. Definitely not something that we use on a daily basis. I remember reading about this several years back for special nights at night-clubs (I don't remember the specifics, though). I think it's more like a code for special events. So it's really not likely that a Korean man would know _and use_ to show his sexual orientation, especially since most people would assume he IS straight by default.
  16. I always have been a bit confused about Taemin. But I have just watched the MV and wow... It almost feels like a statement...
  17. I'm afraid this is just a really bad joke. The source in the article links to this: https://ja.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/エイプリルフール which is the Wikipedia page for April fool's day in Japanese...Considering the Johnnys in Japan, they would never do that. They can't even have their pictures taken, or date girls publicly. One guy who was underage and drunk lost his career just like that. So an Arashi member coming out??? It would be amazing, but I Can't see it happening really. Also, we would have heard about it by now if it was real.
  18. Ok, so I'm all for the happy couple with Jimin and Taemin, because I do believe they are both gay (took me some time for Taemin), and they seem reaaaaally happy to be in each other's presence. But can someone actually explain how this is different from the way Taemin behaves with Kai? And I don't buy the ship pushed by the company for these two. Their friendship probably helped Exo at the start but that's it. Now, they could be in an open relationship I guess, but like... still, can someone tell me what they think of it? (I'm still confused about Kai too btw)
  19. Ah yeah, the infamous friend who likes skinship so much that his friends started to do it too. (1'40, but the whole video is interesting) Edit: WAIT, is it the same one? How many Hotshot members are friends with Kai and Taemin??
  20. Heechul kissing his members might be fanservice, and he is indeed a big fan of J-rock where it happens quite a lot. But if everything gay he does is fanservice, then a huge part of his life (including private life) is pure fanservice, hence the "dedication". Sleeping (literally at least) naked with Gunhee many times, spending holidays with him, exposing their little cute moments on instagram, bringing him on WGM (which IS fanservice in itself!!)... Also, depression isn't fanservice. And I can believe someone might be sad to be separated from their friend, but Heechul's depression when Hangeng left was (imo) too serious for that. He stayed at the dorm for weeks, cried on stage, looked dejected, wrote a sad love song for Orange Caramel called "Shanghai Love" (come on!!), sang the saddest song on the radio... Then decided to enlist when no one expected it. That's a bit too much for fanservice, don't you think? I do believe Heechul knows girls like it when he kisses boys on stage. But I also think provocation is part of his character. And I would personally consider snogging Siwon in public a huge victory in itself if I were him (I'm sure Siwon's dad LOVES Heechul ). Hidden in plain sight...
  21. Ah, these photos... Considering the placement in the second one, I'm not even sure they were kissing, but that's clearly suspicious. I'm still wondering to this day why no one seems to remember them. Does anyone know where this Eunjae now? (and that's not one of his sisters this time). It seems a bit unlikely that SM gave him a girlfriend pre-debut, told him to walk with her in the streets, where he got randomly interviewed with her... But maybe... I mean, that's SM after all... Edit: Reminds me of this: He did basically come out there, right?? (10'45) He's saying his ideal type is a guy, and even checks with a someone ( a manager I guess) if he can say it. Or maybe this is all scripted since Yunho knew and wouldn't out Jajoong like this. Maybe this was a private joke?
