Does anyone ever think that if L wasn't in INFINITE and wasn't an idol, he would still be somehow thrown into the entertainment industry eventually?
Like, if I was a manager of an agency, I don't think I would just simply pass by him...
-
I was hoping they would not impose the basic preschool level kisses of k-dramas (asian dramas in general) on him, but they did. Pecks. PECKS? At least he made it cute enough, but omg what couple together kiss like that all the time?
Even Disney does it better and hotter.

That is just sad. Get it together dramas and let my boy go free.
Otherwise, I want to see the ep :(.

Really? Amazinggggg
Yeah, these things started coming out after his SNL skit.

I see. Myungsoo should've gone there too. Lol.
Individual bitter stans might hate on him again for that on Twitter, lol.

Woollim isn't a bad company by far, I would say. In terms of welfare the boys do get it a lot better than other groups, and in many ways at least they have a say in some things. I think people don't give woollim enough credit in that sense. They do get to compose their own songs; even if we use Hoya as an example of the company rejecting his songs, Woohyun has already been composing since 2013 and consistently after that. He wrote beautiful in New Challenge, Together in 2014's Grow OST. Hoya and Dongwoo have been writing lyrics since like basically debut.
The boys aren't necessarily always complaining about their company; sometimes they do it in jest, but sometimes they genuinely do have an issue with the company. As the group grows, there is a greater need for creative control. But I think we won't get a title track written by them anytime soon since fundamentally, their individual musical preference and styles (even in composition) is very diverse and not really in line with the group's style.
In terms of releases, I don't think that it's necessarily bad that they are sticking with one composer. Part of how infinite is built is based on their rather consistent sound, before with sweetune, and then now with rphabet. Looking at the digitals, they aren't doing poorly by any means for a boygroup. The falling physical sales aren't really indicative of the song's popularity since that is determined mainly by the general public, but more of generally less hardcore fans.
There was a lot of hype for last romeo back then, and the song was disappointing in many ways. That seemed to have broken the momentum for them, rather than just solely lack of promotions. Back was hyped, but as a repackage it was understandably less promoted. Following that Bad was promoted with the whole thing of using a new 360 degree filming for MV etc. Promotions wise they pretty much used the same formula they did back then. But they have stagnated quite a bit. At this point, I do feel that there aren't really that many ways to attract new fans to the fandom; it's not a matter of people not knowing the group, but more of fans just not interested in the type of music they put out, or that young fans just prefer the fresh meat.
I do hope for more comebacks. But there is an opportunity cost to that. Infinite mentioned it took them 4 months to prepare for The Eye (not inclusive of the time to plan the comeback by the company even) and even then, they are really really tired from preparations. That means say they promote twice a year, they would get 4 months of break interspersed. That means less time for concerts (which generally pays both the boys and the company way wayyy better than regular promotions) and if we do get concerts, they will be really tired. I don't want that for them, and ultimately I think their welfare is of utmost importance. Nonetheless, Woollim can promote them in other ways. More year round group promotions, and some more projects on the side. It really isn't that hard and Woollim really needs to step it up. The way the company promotes its a bit dated and they do have to get with the times.
Variety wise, I want more infinite, but maybe less of having their own show but guest spots. We've had Yeol and Dongwoo on LOTJ, Jong on Real Men and LOTJ too. Hello Counselor appearances in small groups etc. Running man also. But more, really. It's possible. At the same time, I do think the company scaled back on variety appearances after infinite got into a whole slew of 'scandals' in 2013 due to variety shows. It was quite big at the time and there were 2 back to back incidents where they said the wrong thing on broadcast. The first was Gyu on Genius (he called the woman a vixen and it was blown out of proportion by some journalists and he talked about it even quite some time back on 4things) and another time when Gyu, Yeol, Woohyun and L were on JTBC's high society. Individually, their activities are getting more, but they need to take Yeoljong out the storage locker. Dongwoo used to be hanging a bit, but I do think the company is pushing him into doing musicals and composition, so he looks alright. Woollim tried to stick Woohyun into acting but I don't think it sticks particularly well. Hoya was okay post reply, but the company didn't really take advantage of the wave imo and My Lovely Girl really stuck a wedge into people's perceptions of Myung and Hoya as good actors, which sucks.
I do think their stylists are not as good as before for one. We had beautiful outfits up to destiny, last romeo was kind of the same style of suits that they had but well made with lace detailing and all that. But Bad was generic and so is this comeback. Lovelyz's even, had great coordis at the beginning during debut with their uniforms, but the stylists now just stick to putting them in tennis skirts and shirts (they basically look the same at each comeback)
The boys get a much better distribution of profit than other companies do. (I have heard rumours that some of the boys do own stock in the company but I think that's speculation.) There are still good things about Woollim, and we have to give them credit if and when it is due. That being said, from a business perspective they do have room for improvement. When it comes down to it, I really do think they will renew though, because at this point it would be hard for them to stand alone.
Disagreements by far.
Woohyun got his composition to be in an album, but it took repeated revisions for the CEO to approve of it being in New Challenge. It was more than likely the same thing for Together (but that song was supposed to play on INFINITE making a song for Inspirits, so that was a leeway), and Woohyun had to fight to get his solo album to get released. Was the title track of it even made by Woohyun? I don't recall that. Not to mention, majority of the self compositions have been partnered with another composer/producer. Basically, it is not easy for the members to get the freedom they want with the songs. It's a process that, in my opinion, they don't need to go through. The CEO has no trust in their input.
The boys are not always 24/7 complaining about the company, but it has gotten more and more frequent with each comeback. And those "jests" are masking their real disdain. They have issues with how things are running, period. They simply don't want to be outright vicious. Yet their patience is running thin enough where Sungyeol called it out without no bull or sugarcoating anymore.
Their consistent sound for INFINITE was with their old school edge (some fans do want Sweetune back). Rphabet changed that sound, so it's not really a sound anymore. They're now jutting out EDM tracks. And I think it is bad for them to stick with one producer, because there is absolutely no variety whatsoever. Having one producer means it goes back and forth with mixed reviews, cause they are not always going to put out something great. While with another composer, they can try to see if they can reach different audiences. Hell, may even get another hit since it's not EDM for once. Groups that have gotten higher don't stick with one producer. It worked with Sweetune, but they don't want Sweetune for title tracks anymore.
And as proven, Last Romeo while critically panned (the most panned Sweetune production at least), has been liked by others, and it still managed, despite the bad reviews, to stick to 375,00+ downloads, not far from Back OR Bad, lol. So no, I doubt that it was a major reason. Idol groups have churned out plenty of shit songs and it still does well because of their fans. The song isn't the problem. It's the promotion. They were doing well and could have done better with Back, but instead they shipped INFINITE off to do world tours after two weeks without barely any variety attendance instead of going with the flow. That was Woollim ruining their momentum.
And I doubt the 2013 scandals in variety was that important, it wasn't impacting enough, and everyone forgot about it eventually. It certainly didn't stop Sunggyu from appearing elsewhere. Late 2014, their main thing was getting money, money, and money for concerts. It may work now, but for how long if they continue to disappear year after year? How did the recent world tour do compared to the previous one? They did smaller venues. It was way too soon.
At this point, I do feel that there aren't really that many ways to attract new fans to the fandom; it's not a matter of people not knowing the group, but more of fans just not interested in the type of music they put out, or that young fans just prefer the fresh meat.
And what I disagree with the most here. Look at the statistics of the age range that comment on INFINITE's articles. Majority is still in the 10s, huge amount. Meaning you're wrong, there is interest within young fans. That's probably the reason why they are doing better than most senior groups as we speak. Look at their YouTube views. The amount of streaming that fans did back then couldn't even break 2MIL. Now we're close to 8MIL within four weeks, an astounding rise.At the end of the day, Woollim can put them in variety and do well by them, or they don't. It's not the music's fault (though they do need some changes I think), it's not INFINITE's lack of gaining interest. The company does not know how to properly manage them.To conclude: look how The Eye rose after appearing in Knowing Bros.-

True. I think we should all take over Woollim. We'll definitely do a better job. They way things are going right now, we can do nothing but pray for them to stick together. I honestly see them saying good bye to Woollim. And like Cube, Woollim would have lost it's money makers. And Lovelyz future, God knows what will happen to them.
Woollim needs to sort out things. Otherwise, it's sinking.
I wouldn't go that far. It all depends next year and what they can work through before they renew with Woollim. I'm pretty certain that's how, for example, miss A's Fei got her solo. Otherwise, she would've ditched together with Jia.
Ngl, even 10 pages are not enough of listing my dissatisfaction towards woollim and i really really really dont like rphabet for many many many reasons. The only functional people for ifnt now maybe their managers. They even complaining about stylists. I think most of people working with infinite only want their money. This year from the start of promotion they already say a lot of things about the company, it feels like their patience is reaching the line. And everytime woohyun says he wants to takeover woollim, i cant help but think of there must be something woollim done, greatly problematic, made him think of that. Now their music show promo is over... When they had said they wanted to promote as long as possible for this cb... I hope woollim is scared now seeing the decision beast had made.
Even the ones ifnt composed are better lol.
X_X
They should be scared now, lol. It's no good when the members have been subtly shading them as a business/company. Woollim isn't the same as it was in the past, back then they were humble and catered to the group. They changed, and for the worst. But it's not like the members have any better option out there either. The best bet is if they are able to build their own company, but that's if they are ready (and I mean in a lot of ways).
For individual activities, Woollim can only accept, reject, or push. The offers come from the PDs. They can be a lot more influential for group appearances in varieties. But everything else there's a certain success rate PDs want, and they'll aim for the popular member. This is L's situation. They see him as marketable, especially overseas since he's got quite the consistent following everywhere the K-Pop niche is. If Woollim rejects it, they'll more than likely look elsewhere for what they want. Woollim can suggest another member. That's as much as they can do.
I have no issue with Rphabet. I just think they should knock it off with the "only one producer for title tracks" shtick.
Yeah! i love Rheabhat ( I know I messed up the spelling) but I miss Sweetune! I would love one song with both of them combined tbh (that would be epic!! just thinking about it makes me extremely happy)! yeah lets hope woolim does a good job, but i mean tbvh i think infinite's growth in kpop is truly amazing! They still have a lot of fans (especially in korea) and they have a lot of public recognition which a lot of the newer generation groups lack. And compared to the older group comebacks this year ( i am in no way trying to put them down) i think infinite is doing the best, especially in terms of longevity. Im happy with this comeback because not only did they come back with an amazing song, but the promotions are pretty good too (snl and knowing brother)
It is quite great that they are holding on. Woollim should feel blessed to be honest, considering how they screwed up with things. There's still a market for INFINITE. Whether they'll take advantage of it is their call. It'll only affect them as a company in the long run. INFINITE can vow out any time. Members have implied they want to keep INFINITE and continue succeeding together, with more freedom.
-
THEIR PEAK ERA THOUGH!! OMG!! THOSE DOWNLOAD NUMBERS ARE CRAZY!!
and i agree about the whole woolim's terrible promotion methods!! Infinite are/were their only hope and although they are doing amazing even now (amazing for a 6 year group tbh), if they promoted them well (still possible) the company would have benefited so much from it (maybe even infinite).
It's accumulated, but yeah. Musically, INFINITE was so amazing in the 2011 to 2012 era. Even Man In Love. I loved every track to death. Sweetune was at their best (I prefer they go with Sweetune more than with Monotree).
Anyway, we'll see how Woollim handles post-promotions.
I agree with everything both of you said. Woollim seemed okay at first (but not to the point of stanning a company which is stupid af), especially since I liked Epik High and Nell before, but after 2013... I'd like them to follow in their senior groups steps rather than stay because Woollim has no idea what they are doing with them. I went to both world tours and I loved the concerts, but if their purpose is only to get a quick cash for Lovelyz and the other groups they are supposed to debut, at the same time sacrificing their domestic popularity... then I really wish they'll out or at least try to settle it out the best they can. Because I don't give a f about other Woollim acts, now when both Nell and Epik High are gone. I'm dissapointed in them.
It's like they lost their common sense. None of us are business people, but you don't need to thoroughly know statistics to see the effect and why. Who in the right mind would consider sending their group off in the midst of the rookies wave to do concerts for months after only two weeks of promotions for the song they came back with. And it's not even music shows either. They did not get the chance to get into variety shows and were limited due to time constraints.
At least the thirst for INFINITE was essential after a year without them, but previous fans probably got distracted and started stanning other groups who were churning out more songs and appearances.
I don't know who is doing such shit management.
I hope INFINITE gives Woollim a wake up call though. They are at least doing well and The Eye is holding itself. Not sure about album sales.

Woollim don't really know how to promote idol groups tbh.. the CEO was a manager of a soloist and later they just had Nell and epik high.. He invested all his money on infinite until they got popular and then , they didn't know what to do with that.. Their pr team sucks and their failed "damage control" attempts caused more harm than good.. Like the fact that Myungsoo is still that popular and in demand is a divine miracle that has nothing to do with woollim tbh.. All the members have poptential but they don't even know what to do with half of them.. Like if something isn't working, you should change your tactic...Woollim lacks in a lot of aspects tbh so i'd rather see them pull a beast and move on to another label together.. Like the "unfairness" never bothered me that much before tbh but now i'm afraid some members would refuse to renew and seek better opportunities tbh.. I wouldn't blame them if they think they deserve better but i don't want to see INFINITE fall apart because of that tbh..
If INFINITE leaves, I don't know what Woollim would do. I'll be happy as long as they go together. The only ones I see with potential satisfaction to feel any need to stay so far are L, Sunggyu, and maybe Hoya. The rest have "joked" about their lack of schedules prominently (those "unemployed" jokes, for example), Sungyeol has been vocal about it twice now, and Woohyun had to more than likely force Woolim to give him an album and lamented it because he was remarking on getting a solo with some shade thrown in before it happened. INFINITE themselves have expressed they want more liberty now with the group. It's going to be quite the discussion come renewal time.
Away from the potential consequences though, I simply want changes. Switch up who does the title tracks, composers for the B-sides have proven they can keep INFINITE's sound (more so than Rphabet if you ask me), put them in varieties, INFINITE are funny together. Market them. Media play a little. None of this stuff is hard.
Companies have this mentality that once you're a "senior" group, they don't need to put investments anymore. They need to focus on their seedlings (in this case, Lovelyz), especially since INFINITE is close to enlisting. Usually companies have back up when that happens but the only ones who could really afford doing that are the Big 3. Companies like Woollim cannot follow unless they have a stable result. More so if they only have one girl group who has yet to make a big enough impact like Twice, GFriend, or BlackPink.
Woollim's mistake was cutting promotions short and sending them off overseas for concerts to make quick money when new groups were debuting left and right. Nobody asked for it either. INFINITE would no doubt get lost in the sea, especially if you're not giving fans material for a year. What kind of...

"back" would've done really well if they actually promoted it for more than 2 weeks and went on shows tbh.. Wollim probably thought that scheduling a comeback right before "that summer concert 2" was a good idea... Woollim started to fuck up promotions since "destiny" era tbh when they decided to do sloppy promotions for a couple of weeks before throwing them on a world tour for 6 months ( alot of things happened in those damned 6 months).. It has nothing to do with Rphabet in particular .. The sad part is that woollim had to sacrifice the local success they had for overseas schedule when they aren't even that popular internationally to begin with.. And even though it helped them expand a bit more and they probably made decent money from it.. Was it really worth it ? I'm surprised their fandom size is still decent even though they did lose a big part of their public relevancy..
Back definitely had the potential, it's the most downloaded Rphabet track so far. Unless The Eye gains some steam, that is. Getting close to 200,000 downloads for only four weeks isn't that bad. Woollim doesn't have many artists as we speak. They shouldn't screw over their only boy group. Not to mention, they need to satisfy the members. Renewal is supposedly coming next year.
I'm just tired of them using the same producer over and over again. And now it's the same with Rphabet. At this point, they need to explore beyond over usage, especially since they used other composers for their b-sides...that created legit good songs.

I've collected how well INFINITE has done digitally with their title singles (accumulation though), correct me if there's any misinformation (how to count digitals have been changed multiple times):
(2011) Nothing's Over - 653,738+
[PEAK ERA]
(2011) Be Mine - 2,079,203+
(2011) Paradise - 1,563,259+
(2012) The Chaser - 1,545,536+
(2013) Man In Love - 736,454+ [yeah, the one i-fans critically panned, lol)
(2013) Destiny - 522,346+
[PEAK ERA OVER]
(2014) Last Romeo - 369,721+ [another critically panned one for both inter. and dom. fans this time, yet it's almost in a similar bracket as Back and Bad wut]
(2014) Back - 401,171+
(2015) Bad - 374,040+
(2016) The Eye - 175,693+ [so far, I can see it passing 200,000 maybe]
I was wondering how they've done with Rphabet tracks in comparison to Sweetune tracks, lol. Mind you, 2014 was the year that Woollim began to not promote them properly and ship them off overseas and whatnot to concerts, cutting promotions short (2 weeks). Then they didn't come back for a year in the time when new groups were debuting.Cause and effect.

It's been awhile since they promoted decently tbh.. And if woollim is insisting to give them only one comeback every year , they should at least promote them properly since this time they don't have a serie of concerts/ a world tour and they can afford to go on shows as a group at least.. No one watches music shows nowadays considering how the ratings are barely 1% or even less.. So they shouldn't think those are enough.. And since we're mainly counting on longevity this time, they better do that
Yeah, I would rather send them to variety shows. Music shows aren't much (which is why I'm okay with one month of promotions there, plus they can't win any more awards), it's only for fans. It helps motivates said fans to stream and buy and whatnot, but that's where the impact ends.
I have an issue with Myungsoo of Infinity Challenge (I don't really like the guy...), and they only care to ride the coattails of what's "trending". They don't care for anything else, even if other idol groups are better and funnier. It's whatever though. I just want INFINITE to have some work in TV after SNL.
I swear, if INFINITE gets locked away...

Knowing bros episode did give them a nice boast at the end of their promotions , I hope SNL episode next week helps as well.. But i really think they should appear on more popular variety shows tbh.. Like woollim were able to get lovelyz on shows like "immortal songs 2" , "running man" and "my little television" (the reason why Ah-choo got to see the light) so i don't see why they can't manage to get infinite to appear on more shows considering they're more popular and do well ratings wise ..
They've been on both Immortal Song (they can afford to send Woohyun there again though) and Running Man before. "My Little Television" is a good next step. They should do some variety work now that promotions are over. Don't let them get slept on for another...well, whenever it is that we'll get a comeback.
But Woollim lacks common sense with them these days.

You are...
You described yourself actually

I mean IchiHime makes no~ sense. It takes fucking two and they've had virtually no interaction, much less meaingful interaction throughout the entire damn story, especially compared to other characters. Only exception being when he and the crew went to save her in Hueco Mundo, and that's even a fraction, because how many times throughout that saga did they even actually speak to one another. How many times was it of any legit standout substance.
RukiRenji makes no goddamn sense. There was no development for that whatsoever. You could have made the argument that Renji might have felt something for Rukia that was romantic, but then you'd have the same problem as IchiHime. They don't see those people that way. You can't just remedy all of that with a little bit of sudden possible vagueness in a panel or two in one chapter after fifteen years.
That is a goddamn lie. IchiHime made the most sense and I'm pretty sure plenty can be given to you as to why in the manga. But I doubt you'd cared like you've done the past 15 years. It's no one's fault that you and others (IchiRuki shippers, really) ignored it.
Anyway, getting into it isn't going to go anywhere because it'll end as it always has and it's just over. IchiHime are canon, Bleach is done.
And the fact that this is the worst thing you could say about the Bleach ending when you have a bunch of unresolved plots speaks for itself.

Myungie literally exudes tired. That picture with Sungjong has him look like he either woke up for the commemoration selca or is about to drop any second.
-
I can't seem to see who all the pairings are.
Sungkyu - Mijoo
Dongwoo - ?
Woohyun - Jisoo
Hoya - Jin
Sungyeol - ?
Myungsoo - Kei
Sungjong - Jiae
Who were Dongwoo and Sungyeol with?
Sungyeol got Sujeong.
Yein wasn't there at the time, so Dongwoo got Baby Soul?.

Best I could do, lol. The fan site took it out and hasn't re-uploaded it.

Download wise we're quite behind compared to "bad" or "back".. I hope they can get a boast with SNL and knowing bros but it's not evident tbh..And please let woollim get them on more popular shows this time.. If anyone has an extra 15$ and can get a melon streaming pass please do it ^^ Lol even if you don't, please get a free genie or naver streaming pass at least

You can only do the Melon pass with iPhone. I don't have an iPhone. And I'm sure others don't as well. That makes it hard.
The others are doable.

Infinite Only download 422.356
I forgot to add Thank You last week lol
Literally the album? :o
How about the title track? It has quite the longevity. And I'm thinking the airing of Knowing Bros. and SNL is going to further help it.

He already finished filming Catman. He's currently filming One More Time.
Then if he accepts, guess he'll start filming the Solomon thing soon.

Do something with his hair.
Do something with his hair.
JUST DO SOMETHING WITH HIS HAIR!
Geezus, it isn't that hard.
Going to listen to that recording now.

We are still doing quite well in Melon after almost a month since our comeback
Yes, we are having quite the longevity. Even with all Armies streaming., it still goes back up Top 20.
No idea how the download numbers are though.

I just don't get it. JUST KISS.
I would've enjoyed this more if he was in his buff level like earlier this year, lol. His loss of weight after he started being busy was concerning.
