-and doesn't give a shit about the public.
And that is their complete and utter flaw.
If they did give a shit, INFINITE would have been bigger, and Lovelyz would already be ahead of the game. Woollim wants to keep their musical integrity (coughbosspreferenceofmusiccough), but that can only succeed to a limit.

looks like he had positive comments after the confirmation

K-netz you mean
.Then again, those are the ones that matter~.
-
I am both excited and nerve wrecked for him. Historical dramas are no joke, this isn't some I Would Protect You 'OMT' or Catman. The k-netz will weave snatch the hell out of you.

hating on someone because of their popularity is just stupid. my bias in Infinite is sungjong, right? sungjong is, sadly, not as popular as some of the other members. while for instance myungsoo, or SNSD's Yoona, have tons of fans from all fandoms and are loved in abundance. I am pretty new to Infinite and have yet to see Myungsoo antis but I know there must be many of them out there, the sole reason of that being that he is more popular than their own biases. it's stupid because it's not like myungsoo can control how popular he is. besides, it's not like these antis would be so bothered about huge popularity if their bias rose to #1 overnight. that's just hypocritical. look, if sungjong suddenly became the most popular member of Infinite, I would be happy as hell because I constantly worry about him feeling inadequate and underappreciated. sometimes he looks so sad and it hurts to see him like that but I have no doubt in my mind that his fellow members, and especially myungsoo, who has always been kind and sympathetic to sungjong, have expressed their concern and worried for him as well. but if sungjong were to actually to rise in popularity and exceed even myungsoo, then that would mean that another Infinite member would become the least popular in rankings (hate the stupid rankings btw). in other words; some members will always be more popular than others. if it happens to be that your own bias is in the lower ranking, then there's nothing to do but accept the situation even though it's hard to grasp when you absolutely adore the person and think of them as #1 material. such things simply cannot be controlled and taking that out over other people who haven't done anything wrong, that just shows an embarrassing lack in character.
I can honestly say that I didn't have any underlying motive to what I wrote, I have been completely honest here and it bugs me that people will now think I have an issue with myungsoo when that is far from the case. I have fully admitted and will admit it again that it was an unnecessary comment even though I had harmless intentions. I should have known better. I would very much like for us to put this behind once in for all. I don't know how many more times I have to apologize, I just feel like I have to work extra hard to clear my name after this. I repeat, I do not in any way have a problem with myungsoo. for goodness' sake he's a freaking puppy ;; he sometimes annoys the hell out of me when he smiles in a certain way and looks ridiculously cute doing this and then I cringe because it's too cute. just like how I cringe at sunggyu's attempts at aegyo (a joke. sunggyu fans pls don't get mad at me. I say that in an affectionate manner but tbh I don't know what I can and can't say right now because I feel like I will be stamped as a sunggyu hater if I'm not careful).
I just, I have nothing but newfound affection for these dorks and it saddens me that I have given off an impression that has resulted in me having to constantly try and convince you guys of that ;;
I never said you disliked Myungsoo, I've read through all the comments and knew before posting that you explained yourself. My whole point was the reason behind fans' behavior in general. Why they react the way they do, why they do the things they do, and why they say the things they do. Thinking of all the other possibilities, the only one that makes sense is insecurity and an unconscious inferiority (that isn't the same as dislike or hate, don't get me wrong, but it can be a precursor to it) that they have of their own faves. Like, the popularity that they don't have. Or the praise or jobs that they don't get. They pretend to accept it but they really don't. I'm not speaking for all, since I have seen fans be chill about things, yet those in particular who go for that negative behavior suffer from something. And it is very prevalent. You see it almost everywhere. Having such negativity for a member or to present such type of negativity for them isn't normal.
Further using L as an example, he has popularity, visual praise, and jobs, so their hidden inferiority causes them to attack him and bring him down. Or for a third option, secretly wish for him to fail. The threat needs to be less threatening, basically.
That's all I was getting across.
-
Whooooooooa.
The response to our newcomer was a bit over the top, but tensions are high for L fans due to the constant, acceptable target aspect that he's always been in for individual stans and, yes, Inspirits. Especially on Twitter. He's always had others hating on him for years because of his popularity.
There's this disease of a deep-rooted, unconscious inferiority [of their fave] that fans have. Meaning, on the outside they act as if their favorites are misused, underrepresented, or their talents (at times inflated more than they actually are) unrecognized to explain their toxic or hateful behavior, but are really acting on unconscious inferiority. There's a defense mechanism called rationalization where a person expresses conscious, reasonable explanations rather than the unconscious motivations for doing them, and I think that is what's happening. What are the "unconscious motivations"? They can vary with everyone but I'll use an example. Fan A says "I think [insert member] is much more handsome than L (cause it's always going to be him, let's be real, lol) and he's the real visual". Look at how Fan A specifically mentions Myungsoo and uses him in a very sort of resentful way, to the point where Fan A takes away the idea of his position because to only her/him (which is the funny part), he's unworthy. The reality is that they feel insecure because their favorites don't get the visual attention L gets, so they use this as a way to soothe their unconscious inferiority of it by belittling or minimizing his looks in some form. Sometimes they are not even aware of it.
Because honestly, that comment as a whole was unnecessary. It makes you want to ask, "lol, does saying that make you feel better?". And the secretly kept answer that they don't show is, yes, it does.
This explains the Sunggyu vs. Woohyun thing too that happened previously. It explains why ExoLs and Armys are wringing each other's necks right now, it explains why fans get quickly defensive when someone criticizes their favorites (especially when it hits too close to the truth, denial mode), and it's also why Myungsoo in particular gets so much vitriol - the unconscious inferiority~.
And most of what you read and see reactions to are all defense mechanisms to dealing with it.
For fun, try to look back on things you've said [that are similar] and try to figure out why you said them. Don't try to explain it or excuse it away. Really think why.
Well for Infinite to get all thes awards and stuff, there needs to be some change, I think woollim will have to do what bighit does with BTS they do aggressively advertise them hell that group done won like every freaking award and even hit top 20 on billboard in the usa and other countries, thats also due to the crazy hardcore fandom that bts has. I think everyone in that fandom bought like 30 copies of everything even blew away the damn record on youtube by having the most views on avid in 24hrs in less than a damn week they were at like 30mil views. Thats one thing that cant be denied with newer groups the fandom dedication is insanely strong
Thanks for the BTS summary...
But what has all that accomplished? All of that only matters to the fanbase, either to feel better about their group or for bragging rights. BTS made it to the TOP 20 on Billboard, but how much does that have to do with the public? Did they get Psy level recognition around the world? Did the Western areas start to care for them, start to know they exist? Are they at all known? No. Even the Youtube views are done by fans constantly streaming, not because there's actual interest in them by others outside the K-Pop community. All of these are empty achievements. There needs to be real impact, and there wasn't.
INFINITE are doing more than fine for a group that's six years in, they have their fans, they are okay to decent digitally, and they are going. To delude one's self into thinking that what you mentioned actually matters in the long run is what has made K-Pop so toxic.

Are we dedicated enough to get them one? I don't think so tbh.. Pretty sure every inspirit who stans other groups as well knows how hard everyone else works and our fandom is really nothing in comparison .. I lost faith in the fandom when they didn't even want to stream for free tbh.. Like a group on twitter was organizing teams for streaming/ voting and couldn't find more than 40 volunteers.. 40 in the whole fandom ? No need to talk about the ones who went all out voting, streaming, bulk buying when it was their fave solo but when it comes to the group comeback.... they're no where to be seen.. May be you think other groups don't deserve that but their fandoms did.. Their faves said they wanted a daesang so they went all out to get them one.. The only thing we're good at is competing among members , people bitching about why x member got a solo before their fave, why Y member got casted in a drama and not their fave.. I'm not here for fanwars but competing with other groups is *1000000000 better than competing among members since it helps fandoms to work even harder to get their groups to the top.. internal fanwars don't help anyone..
So yeah INFINITE deserves a daesang but the fandom and woollim don't..
OMG at this. That is some truth tea.
Twitter is a cesspool of what you just described. And fans ALLOW it to happen.
"If it ain't my fave, it ain't my problem".
Good luck with that mentality if they screw up and expect the rest to help defend.

Yes!!

How I wish for INFINITE to win a Daesang, At first I didn't care, but seeing how some groups who are obviously less talented than them still get awards!
We should really work harder!
Korean awards keep getting more and more unreliable as the years go by. What happened at the Melon awards was ridic. It continuously gets worse in quality. They relent only to the bigger obnoxious fandoms and/or the big companies. They don't stand for anything anymore.
Mess at others thinking any of them are anywhere close to the weight of the Grammys or something (one can argue they are losing credibility too, but at least they look at quality and have certified judges). The awards are only used to make fans even more unbearable and obnoxious. They accept it because they can brag about what they believe it means.
INFINITE are doing well after SIX years in the business. Who else that debuted around their time have kept up well with other new groups? They don't need an award to prove that. Heck, if they have a song that goes well with the public, they'll be back on track because that's all they need.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't work harder of course.
But INFINITE need a change. Whether a lighter song or different producers for a title. Keeping with only one composer and waiting for it to get leverage isn't going to do it. One different producer's song can maybe hit it with the public.
But we'll we ever find out? Nope, at this point. That's why Lovelyz have fallen behind too. Boss man is too busy doing what he wants to do when it comes to music instead of weighing the market.

I want a happy song from INFINITE. The whole dark, serious thing is getting rather overused and uninteresting. They've had back to back comebacks with that theme since 2014.
-
sis of course since they're still doing fansigns until now
(they had like 20 fansigns)Oh, well, lol.

Still, how are INFINITE doing compared to in the past?
-
I'm not the kind of person who starts complaining as soon as there's no schedules, but I also have to be realistic. In this industry you can't afford not having schedules for a long time, or you'll lose hype and fans.
That's what happened when they did continuous tours. Now even Got7 can match INFINITE in album sales.
Woollim is just trash. I missed the days before the stupid merger and when they were at least somewhat more smarter in strategy.

298.413 downloads and 9.596.102 streamings for the eye
I was hoping they'd make 300,00 downloads. Now that seems a possibility plus more. It's only been two months but...
Back: 401,171+ (2014)
Bad: 374,040+ (2015)
It's catching.
I feel they need to go in one more popular/trending variety show, and that should be it.
-
I'm proud of "the eye" s longevity tbh
2 months in and it's #68 on melon's daily charts

Do you know the current download numbers?
-
Saying this here too, in case someone can help: I can sub the drama (I'm a subber, I've done it lots of times before) but I need a translator. So if anyone understands or knows someone who understands Korean, Japanese or Chinese and wants to translate, please let me know. I really wanna watch it subbed :(
Try Twitter?
I know I can't translate. I do think however there is someone who can translate from the INFINITE thread. I forgot the username though.

Ep 2 not yet

I don't think we're gonna get subs for this one.
Not that you need it to get that Yootan is an asshole, but.

Have anyone watch One More Time?
Yoo Tan is such an asshole

He's miserable with his boring, repetitive life with no money. He missed me in dragging everyone else into his negativity by being a grade A asshole tho. Sohee's straight faced acting aside, his gf is the sweetest thing.
Oh, and the appearance of The Little Match Girl.
L somehow plays deceitful and asshole well. I don't know what that may mean, lol.
He should take an antagonistic role next time.

Its really severe..Imagine your country's leader is actually a puppet controlled by some evil power...
That's all countries tbh. The government caters to the 1% (the richest), or they work hand in hand. I mean, if that's the case, SK just somehow got exposed to its own public. In this world, everything is about $$$. The news and media are manipulated so they can make us see what they want, the foods we eat are hybrids (unnatural, referred to as "domesticated" or "domestic", that includes apples, aloe vera, peppermint, cows...the cows we have now are hybrids, the real cows, the aurochs, became extinct long ago, etc.), are made with starch, and are genetically modified, the sick are great for Big Pharma and they panic when they see experts and/or doctors advise natural remedies...
But that's enough for "conspiracy theories" and all, as they call 'em.

does anyone know where this picture is from?

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
Look at that screen, like we need a reminder of that awkward kiss, lmfao.
What's awkward about it exactly? I mean, other than the obvious G rating kiddie kiss, but that's just standard with a few exceptions (those exceptions don't include idols).

Hopefully woollim will take the hint and send them to more popular variety shows as a group because the individual appearances never made any impact tbh trending/ charting wise..
i mean look at this longevity .. Don't let it go to waste, "The eye" has so much potential
..
What popular variety shows are we missing now?
There's Running Man. I'm a bit torn with Infinite Challenge.

∞ INFINITE [인피니트] OFFICIAL THREAD ∞
in Groups
Posted · Edited by Boadicea
I was there at the time.
It started off when L's female co-star Han Bo Reum, as they both played a role in Master's Sun, posted an innocent selca (gorgeous one at that) of the two.
This somehow triggered K-Inspirits and she was getting some complaints or whatnot, since she eventually had to take the photo down. L, late at night over where he was (according to a fansite, because they were questioning him on Twitter why he was up so late and to go to sleep), started writing stuff like, and I'm going off of my head here since I can't remember the exact wording, "Taking pictures with you is the best" and stuff relating to how he enjoys taking pictures with [insert] better. Of course, the fans took it as him talking to them and it was an attempt to placate their anger or whatever.
He deleted those tweets.
Which is why you still see the last post of his on Twitter being the one of Sungong.
This is where things got somehow worst.
What happened was that a blog post collected "evidence" that he was dating this girl (Do Yeon) and how they had similar items (that she posted on Twitter herself), who claimed to be Do Yeon's friend (Do Yeon denied this btw). That riled up the fandom and they were talking about it, you know, the usual with a "dating" rumor like this. There was even a message in this Do Yeon's girl Twitter that if read vertically with every first word (in Korean), spelled out something to his name. Then the fans started accusing him of those previous Twitter comments of his that I mentioned above as secret messages to his girlfriend, disguising it as messages to the fans, and the fans felt betrayed and crap. There was even the explanation of how they met around, since her father (she's a rich girl) was a benefactor or something for L's Bravo Viewtiful (this is where the conspiracy theories come in about how he was forced to lie about dating her so the girl can get her 15 minutes of fame). She started out as an acquaintance and went to INFINITE's concert - her and L hit it off from there. Anyway, it exploded enough where Woollim had to get official statements out. They denied it at first.
But then a picture of them together out shopping in the market as damning evidence got leaked (I'm thinking as a challenge to their denial) and again all hell went loose.
Woollim retracted their statement and admitted that they were indeed dating, but they were slowly drifting apart, and saying L wanted to admit to it in the first place (he wasn't even in Korea, he was out of the country for the concert tour). Then Do Yeon in all this hectic mess could not bother to shut up and kept posting on Twitter, talking about how fans kept throwing rocks at her or the car, that her parents are so upset at this, etc. In one post she even mentioned how she wanted to be an actress and how she went to the Blue Dragon Awards and how she went to school overseas, nothing that mattered and that no one cared about. Eventually people began to see her as an attention seeker and blamed Woollim for the awful handling of the situation. So most of the vitriol and fury changed to those two, leaving L luckily escaping the bulk of the negativity himself. It was accepted that they broke up, though there was no confirmation statement from the company.
L was able to recover because he was viewed more as a victim and because he wrote and sang a song of apology to his fans on the Bravo Viewtiful fansigning. And you know, they weren't together anymore. Oppar was single again.
Anyway, from what I've seen, those making the conspiracy theories are the ones that support him in a gay ship (Myungjong, majority of the time) or are "so sure he's gay". You know how those types are, so take it with a grain of salt, lol. Everyone else has taken it as fact and moved on. Even the fansites knew he was dating and were disappointed he was so careless (one scolded him for it, forgot who, maybe lkimfan).
But it did leave an impact on the poor kid. After that mess, he never returned to Twitter.
I honestly do think it affected INFINITE, but minimally. L saved himself enough. They still did pretty good in their comebacks after. It was the constant quick comebacks (two weeks promotion tops) and concert touring and change of producer (with Last Romeo not being favored as a track) that I feel affected INFINITE more than that dating scandal ever did.
