And next week is when my interest takes a nosedive as I will pretty much only support Shorties and if Chae sisters pass to Top 10 since they are the extreme underdog. Everyone else is pretty eh so far.
-
They were done the second they switched Jung Hanna with Kim Abigail. It was a foolish move as Abigail' style is completely different than the other two members.
-
Yep. I was never interested in the Bang Yedam. It was like a train that ran off course ... By the time the judges stopped him it was too late and he was in Top2. And I really hope as I was charmed early on by Eunyul and Junghee. I need one to pass to Top10. As of right now I losing my favorites fast.

And I feel bad for 2Minute. The loss of Jung Hanna crushed them as they lost the strongest (and most loved) member and gained a weak member (though I really liked Abigail Kim' personality she just wasn't on the same level as the other two). And it is horrible that Eun Yul has to face Bernard and the prodigy dancer. She must know she's going to be eliminated - I think she would have had a shot at 2nd if she faced some of the other contestants. And I got to say the prodigy dancer is reminding me a lot of Bang Yedam as the judges praise and praise and only at the end they realize they might have overestimated the talent. She's good - but I am not always overwhelmed. She has a lot of hype.
-
And .... Brody. Just please eliminate the young girl. She's (sometimes) cute ... though we all know she knows it and works that heavily to her advantage but please don't let her pass while real talent has been eliminated. She has potential ... but the potential needs to be shoved and squeezes by the help of others. Let her grow and self improve a little and then come back. It is clear her parents will have no trouble bringing her back to another Kpop show - if she isn't recruited as a trainee. (I still can't believe Bang Yedam made it to 2nd place - as that concerns me as the judges loved him but we saw greater talent during that season though it was clear from the start that AM would win).

I give Something points as they are the only singer- songwriters in the competition but I don't think that means they should necessary be Top10. They do not fascinate me anymore ... that could change with more time and teamwork but right now I feel like there are more suited contestants for Top10. And I really can't let go of the past - what did they do with EQ. I liked Kim Kiryun.

You stated one of my concerns; Something will rank Top10 not for musicality but for the very fact that everyone knows older woman (young adults +) have been charmed by the male singer-songwriter since his first performance. He's a darling. It took me a few episodes to separate my want to protect and see him succeed due to his boyish charm to recognize he isn't ready for the competition. I think she might be stronger than him when it comes to writing lyrics but she doesn't have the charisma and ability to pull the audience in like the male. I would prefer they come back next year (either as a duo or solo). And I wonder how they sing to more mainstream songs as Akdong Musicians were faces with that challenge and for the most part excelled.

What J-Drama(s) are you watching?

Brain Man (No Otoko) & Code Blue. -
Just Another Boy - Winner/ Team B/ etc.

Oh, I am not saying they aren't talented and/or have a very difficult task compared to the rest of the contestants as they have to not only sing but write their own songs but I feel that since they havent had long to get to know each other and understand each other that they are at a disadvantage. I worried both are sacrificing their style to fit with the other. And their songs while creative need to be more finely crafted which can only come through experience and professional mentoring. I think they could excel as trainees - but I do not see them as close to professionals/ ready-to-debut (like some of the other contestants). And I wonder also if they do not make it to the top5-10 if they will continue as a duet or try to go solo as I do not think either of them can shine (yet) individually though I am pretty sure the young male has won the hearts of many women. (And I'll stand by Hong JungHee to the very end).

Official Baek A Yeon Thread // listen to Sorry to Myself

I hope she doesn't get pushed back and hidden with the impact of all the JYP debuts and comebacks - she already has pretty limited and unimpressive promotions prior to release. (The same goes to 15&) In general, I have been disappointed with how JYPE has managed their Kpop Star trainee/debuts.- 1,751 replies

[OFFICIAL] K-Drama / K-Movie Recommendation Thread
scarlette007 replied to Krystal.'s topic in Movies & Television
So you prefer the romance? I find it most often takes away from the story line and becomes a focal point - therefore squashing the psychological/ thriller/suspense/crime element. I am not saying there cannot be any interest or attraction but I do not want it to be overshadowing the story. That kind of movie/show is hard as many foreign movies/shows sure love their romance. I am not also opposed to some comedy elements - as long as it not slapstick and/or overdone. Edit- oh. I misread your comment. You aren't looking for the typical boy and girl met during X and fall in love. -
I haven't seen this week's episode but I really do not know why everyone is so hyped about Something. My interest in them actually wanes at every performance. I'll admit my maternal instincts try to kick on when I see them perform but they just aren't ready to be considered Top10. And basically it sounds like it was a pretty uneventful/filler episode as only one contestant moved onto Top10 - as the second competition will have to be re-done. I prefer Eun yul over Something btw.

[OFFICIAL] K-Drama / K-Movie Recommendation Thread

Any good criminal/detective shows/movies that does not have romance as the main focus? I would prefer it to not also follow the mainstream setup of a young, bright- eyed woman who has to work with a misunderstood/ curmudgeon /anti social partner. I would like a movie/show that challenges and/or makes you think. However, immense and unnecessary bloodshed and violence is unwanted. It can be Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, etc etc. -
I disagree. I really enjoyed Seunghoon' performances in Kpop Star 1 ... But he was far from perfect. He lacked substantial skill but overcame that with charisma, teamwork, and a brilliant personality that charmed the public. But he needed lesson to improve his rapping skills. Lee Hi and Park Jimin also benefited from vocal lessons though I was swept away by Jimin from the beginning. To this day, I recognize Lee Hi' talent but I don't particularly feel inclined to listen to her music. And my favorite was Baek A Yeon. As for Kpop Star 2 ... They emphasized creativity over skill. I think Kpop Star 3 is a combo of both- skill and creativity. I just wish they kept Hong Jung Hee :( And I love the addition of YHY.
-
I know I might be in the minority when I say this but I am extremely disappointed Hong Jung Hee was eliminated. She was extremely talented, graceful, and well-mannered. I was rooting for her from the beginning - and the relationship between her and YHY was truly touching. My favorites seem to be getting eliminated - I greatly enjoyed the EQ trio but not very fond of Bernard and Sam as solo acts. I am charmed by Heo Eun Yul. In the beginning I liked Something but as the judges have stated repeatedly they are getting boring. I adore Shorties. The level of vocal talent is pretty high so I will be greatly disappointed if Brody passes to Top10 - same goes for the (sweet) Chae sisters. Give them a couple of years to mature - then have them come back.
