  1. Message for their Japan Showcase. I'm actually part Japanese, and I used to be able to understand it a little when I was young, but I can't translate it now. Click here to view the Tweet They performed their OST from last year "Because of You" which was pretty popular. I like that they did it but this also means they have officially performed this song more times (this is their 2nd time, well maybe maybe the first was only a partial) than they did "Ghost". I'm going to have to start a petition or something to get them to start singing that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSLexmIQqq0 Click here to view the Tweet
  2. I thought it was funny how they kept showing super expensive high performance cars when I knew it was going to be an economy car. But I am surprised it's not a Korean car, I expected at least that much. But then again you rarely see prizes like a car in Korean shows. I was so excited when I saw this on YT because I thought someone translated it, but it's not. I really hope someone does though. I'm interested to hear what they have to say about each other and their experience on the show. BTW Bohyung sings "Who You Are" much better here. She was really straining in her performance in the finals. I'm hoping too but since pretty much every site was using OnDemandKorea's subs of the show, and they haven't even posted the raw (usually went up within an hour of the show), I'm having doubts anyone has it.
  3. Yeah, I couldn't find any videos of it either. Bohyung won a little red hatchback, I think it's a Fiat (looks like the car J-Lo made commercials for here in the US).
  4. I think yours do well. I've actually goose egged a few (no replies) over on AKP. That made me totally give up posting there. I try to check here for SPICA threads every so often but I don't always reply for various reasons. Sometimes I mean to reply later to bump the thread but then completely forget about it. I think people here on OH have pretty much made up there minds in regards to SPICA so they don't even check their threads anymore. I think the good news is they are kinda becoming more relevant in Korea again. I see a lot more fancams of their events again. I hope CJ E&M has comeback plans in store for them soon (maybe after Davichi's?) to take advantage of Bbo's GS win.
  5. So thankful for those translated interviews. Since Bohyung talks so little, every interview she gives is so precious.
  6. I agree with you that the actual number of scored points should matter but the standard from show to show should remain the same. I'm using this as an extreme example but what if they decide to do an open concert for one episode with a few thousand voters? Would it be fair that the winner for that one episode end up with hundreds of points more when compared to regular episode that has 100 voters with an average point difference of maybe 10 points?
  7. But that is why the number of voters matters, and that why the placing should matter. If you're first place for an episode that should mean the same as placing first in ANY episode. With the way the military episode went, winning that one show (especially with the huge point gap it created) pretty much decided the show. The PD realized this and cut the points in half but then it was kinda unfair for Sojung (but they added her in as the wild card, but still). There should be one standard for every episode.
  8. Yup, the two teams film on the same day (they wear the same clothes in the matching episodes). I think that format worked great because it meant they only filmed one day every other week at most (it was slightly less because the filming was way ahead of the airings in the beginning). It also allowed for them to participate even during a comeback, which some of them did. My biggest problem with the scoring was the number of voters, it varied from episode to episode. That made some shows more important than others, and it was rather random. That's what I meant by the placings meaning nothing. Sojung placed 1st twice, 2nd once 3rd once, and out of the top3 once. Bohyung was 1st twice, 2nd twice, and 3rd once. Uji was 1st once, 2nd three times, and out of the top 3 once, yet Uji was the no.1 for team b by a very large margin (almost 70 points). The placings didn't reflect the scores. If they made all the episodes have the same number of voters it would have made things more equal and the placings would matter. Better yet would've been if they added an additional performance for each team and then threw out the lowest score. Because as much as the military episode and legends episode were fun to watch and it helped various contestants, it was the luck of the draw if they got one that helped them or hurt them.
  9. Awwwww, I thought the final episode was two parts with next week being the ending. Not only didn't I watch it, I didn't even make a point of checking up on it this morning. Still, it's great news that she won! I only checked out her first performance so far, and I loved it. I know a lot of people were worried because she was going to rap, but I learned a while ago that any performance Bbo brings to the stage will be a quality one.
  10. I like the format but there are things I would like to see changed/improved. Like the scoring system is off and the episode placings didn't really mean anything (3rd place didn't matter at all). And the male judges were pretty much useless, both as judges and mentors. My take on the low ratings is this, you have a vocalist format with idol contestants. (I'm speaking in general terms) Just like you read in the comments in this thread, idol fans want their bias in the spotlight all the time. If they don't get it they start crying foul or just stop watching altogether. It's hard to have idols competing in a fair vocal competition without fan voting and still keep their fans as viewers. I think if you change that you basically change the whole concept of the show and it just becomes another popularity based competition. To me the show is what it is. They can improve on it but they should stick with this basic format. In time hopefully viewers will come to appreciate it, I know I have.
  11. Actually the interview was at the beginning of this year when they first announced the comeback. So I think she was referring to last year, maybe even in 2014 when she didn't get her solo and came back to the US after they had just returned to Korea after KCON..
  12. That comment isn't just on international sites, it's also said on Korean sites too, all the time in fact. So it doesn't surprise me at all that they've heard it. It would surprise me if they didn't. SPICA is always introduced or mentioned as a "vocally talented group" in Korea. During one interview Boa had mentioned she considered quitting during the hiatus but it was comments and letters from Mercuries that gave her strength. Those comments also might have been at least part of the reason why CJ E&M signed them, they saw potential. To me it says a lot that a huge company like CJ signed a pretty old (members age-wise), not very successful girl group, that debuted 4 years ago and has been on hiatus for 2 years, COMPLETELY INTACT (no member changes).
  13. Jiwon looks smokin hot in that black outfit! I guess the orange color really did make a big difference in Sihyun's hair because it doesn't look nearly as awful (although I still don't like the cut) as it did during the comeback. And I wish they'd stop messing with Bbo's hair. All her hair styles on Girl Spirit look way better than what they've done to it during Secret Time promotions.
  14. There's a physical, I bought mine through the Mwave store, as I think most people did since they had the meet and greet this past Monday with additional prizes for those randomly selected. I know there were a couple other sites selling it but I don't have the links offhand (hopefully someone else knows them).
  15. Since they cut the military episode's points in half, it didn't do as much damage as it could have. But along those same lines it messed up Sojung's chances of being in the top 2. The show did so many things right but the point system was messed up because it was so inconsistent. Every episode should have had the same number of voters. And since the military episode was so random (as far as the voters themselves not being the music students) they should have added another performance for each team and then dropped one of their lowest scores. I didn't even think she had time to do one with the comeback and Girl Spirit on her plate already. It does sound great. Click here to view the Tweet
  16. This show has done a lot of things right, and the production crew deserves some praise. In the first episode it looked like they were going for some drama with the way the editing was done. But they quickly backed off from it when it was obvious that the girls weren't about that so it became a very supportive environment. At this point I find all of them lovable and the show has done a great job of showing each of their unique personalities. I think they still need to tweak the scoring system but other than that I think they have done a great job. I'll say this again, I wish the part of the show were a couple of performances longer because I feel like they finally have everything cranking on all cylinders.
  17. Anyone else catch the preview for next week's GS and the end of the episode today? I think that was Bbo dancing like Michael Jackson and then rapping! Although the MJ thing might not be her but a different performance. But the rapping sounds like her voice, and it goes with her first song "Caution".
  18. Yeah, I was, considering she placed high in every episode except this one. They showed the complete points for each episode for the top 4, and from what I saw (they went really fast) Uji was never too far behind even when she didn't win. Bohyung was pretty consistent in both placing high and in points and was never out of the top3 and only placed 3rd once. So in the end the placing really didn't mean anything from episode to episode, it was the points that we needed to track. BTW: The points for the military episode were halved, so it didn't do as much damage (or in Sojung's case, help) as much as it could have.
  19. When I saw this on the show I was hoping someone was going to make gifs of it. I stole this from a post Laamaa did in another thread. I would've just quoted it but the gifs weren't showing.
  20. After thinking about it, I think Bbo put herself first for the benefit of the orchestra musicians. That way they aren't waiting around the second half of the shooting day (since Team A performs first) for her performance. They just come do the rehearsal and then almost immediately after they perform
  21. Kinda sad to see this part of the show ending so soon, I wish it were a couple of performances longer. It seems like the girls, and the show in general, are now hitting their stride. Each of them has started to "find themselves" and are putting on some amazing performances. The "legends" and military episodes really helped them in that respect even if they kinda screwed up the competition part of the show. I think if they had a couple more performances and they threw out their lowest scores (not really feasible though since there weren't the same amount of voters all the time, especially the military episode) I think it would've worked out better. What was really missing early on was true guidance from the gurus/seniors making it hard for the inexperienced singer to compete. But with a little help everything now seems to be a lot more level than in the first few episodes.
