  1. Jiwon's Voice and Performance on Vlive, she did Baek Ye Rin's "Across the Universe" (same song Bbo did (ft Flowsik) on Girl Spirit): http://vlive.tv/video/47773 Bbo!!! Click here to view the Tweet
  2. LOL!!! Yay! Entropy can OP and Laamaa can help make the badges. I guess we really only need 4 people here to do stuff. haha
  3. We can, I saw the post yesterday but I'll have to look into more on exactly how it's done, I've never been on the OP end of it. I know the pic requirements are pretty strict so it may not even be possible for the group pic and even some of the members.
  4. I think this past episode of the Unit showed more vocal talent then the first but it's still missing a real power vocal. Melody Day's main vocal is great but I still wouldn't put her in the power vocal category. Thank God there's singers with some soul like Melody Day, Euna Kim (although I'm not liking her tone), and few others because I was worried it was all going to be typical high voiced kpop singers that try to emulate soul in their voices.
  5. I was blown away by Jiwon's audition but not by her vocals or dance. Most of the parts she sang after the dance break were parts she normally sings in the group song so it wasn't overly impressive to me but I can see why others would think it was, especially, as you said, after all the lack luster auditions. What I was impressed with was the overall energy she gave off. It's one thing to do that as part of a group but to do that all by herself is not easy and I've never seen her do it before. Bohyung had to work up to being able to being able to do it and she had a lot more opportunities than Jiwon at performing solo. Maybe it was Jiwon's musical experience that got her there? And the somber way the rebooting idols are introduced and then Jiwon's sad backstory, made her energetic audition even more amazing to me. The NB comments only really bothered me when they were posted, but when the show actually aired I think that basically killed almost all that negativity. I do agree she has some backing by the public, but it's one thing for people to like her but it's an entirely different level from fandoms who will do anything and everything to get VOTES for their faves. SPICA's fandom has always been a lot more passive then most (probably an age/maturity thing) so it's never been great about those sort of things. I saw this video posted by Coco of CocoSori, it's her behind the scenes coverage of her audition (she didn't make it and there no vid of her audition). Jiwon is in it. But the part that is really interesting to me is how much she admires Jiwon. For those that don't know, Coco is a host on Arirang TV's "Tour vs Tour" (yes, I watch sometimes when it's on), and she is like the 4th female Arirang host that I've seen that is a SPICA fan!
  6. Editing will always be a problem for these types of shows because there's no way to make everyone happy. That's not to say I'm happy about it either but I kinda expect it from audition/elimination shows, especially in kpop. The only thing that really upsets me is the cutting out of Superboot contestants. Regardless of public feedback, if a person or group went through the audition process legally and got a Superboot then they deserve to have their performance shown in it's entirety. Not necessarily with a backstory, but their performance itself should be shown. Next week, when the public voting starts, it's all going to get much worse..........
  7. I finally watched the full show. I don't get the whole "if you can't sing or dance just have charisma and smile" thing. I mean I get that's part of kpop and for a normal company that's auditioning trainees that's ok. But this is a performance show, what do you do with a person that can't sing or dance on stage? I mean does that person just stand in the middle smiling while everyone else orbits around them? The final group is supposed to be ready to go, it's not like you have time to train them a whole lot. So either they end up as fodder for elimination and drag down whatever respective group they're with in the show, or worse yet make it all the way to the end by appealing to the public and drag the final group down.
  8. I finally watched the full show, actually it was a few days ago but I'm commenting now. haha 1. It was so nice hearing Jiwon's voice as the very first thing that opened show. It was also her image, from behind, but only fans would know. PDs sprinkled clips of her on the montages throughout the episode. It really seems like they wanted to promote Jiwon, at least in this episode. That's a welcome change for a SPICA member on a major network. 2. Wasn't overly impressed by many auditions. The ones that stood out were Jiwon and UKISS Jun. I liked Bigstar's individual bits but their original group audition wasn't great. The 13 year old trainee dancer was good. I really wanted to like Dalshabet's audition (it was ok) but they seemed to hold back on their vocals, maybe because they were nervous? 3. The judging is so erratic, there's no rhyme or reason to it. But I guess that's kpop. 4. I don't get the whole "if you can't sing or dance just have charisma and smile" thing. I mean I get that's part of kpop and for a normal company that auditioning trainees that's ok. But this is a performance show, what do you do with a person that can't sing or dance on stage? Along the lines of number 4 above. I don't get having really strong dancers, especially in a girl group. For the most part, groups are only as good as their weakest dancer when talking about on stage group performances. Boy groups can utilize really strong individual dancers to some extent, but girls much less so. Add in the people who can't sing or dance and it pretty much negates the strong dancers. I have no expectations for Jiwon for this show. I want her to do well of course but with public voting and the whole "idol" premise of the show, it's too hard to have expectations. SPICA does well with closed voting systems on performance based shows (like Mask Singer and Girl Spirit with just judges and the studio audience voting) but they never do well with public polls. Maybe Jiwon's audition picked her up enough support to overcome that but she'll still have to deal with the active idols on the show who have active fandoms and companies to support them. So I'll just enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts and be grateful to see her perform.
  9. Actually, sometimes he wasn't there. There was a girl sitting in for him on a few of the auditions in the first show, she voted but never spoke.
  10. Wow, Boa is really dressing up nowadays. I remember when the thought of wearing a dress repulsed her! Jiwon posted a vid of Boa helping her prepare... Click here to view the Tweet
  11. Jiwon's performance for ep1, she sang "Tonight" and did a dance break in the middle. She got the Super Boot (terrible name, it means she got 90% audience approval vote) in just 30 seconds, the fastest of anyone in ep1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1L8Trae4KDc&feature=youtu.be Her on stage intro and interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPKS6G1zZUk&feature=youtu.be
  12. I so admire Jiwon's perseverance to succeed, especially with all the crap she has to take. Too bad being a successful non-idol vocal group is just as hard and even less rewarding monetarily.
  13. So I officially took over this thread since the op left (actually she left awhile ago). No big plans, when I have time I'm going to fix up the first post since all the links are broken and get the members profiles and discography up. At that time I'm planning on getting rid of the two polls at the top of the page. I'll update the title of the thread to support Jiwon on "The Unit" when the 1st episode gets nearer. Speaking of "The Unit"
  14. Not that I know of, and I've been trying to find this out all year. If any of them is I would guess Bohyung since she's been the busiest all year.
  15. I don't remember all the details when the contract ended but my recollection was SPICA was surprised by the announcement because it said they disbanded. I remember being surprised that CJ E&M made it (and it wasn't even a formal announcement as the source was unnamed) because B2M was making all the announcements at the time for all CJ artists (even one that were never under them). Plus it was a little weird to me as there was almost a month still left on the contract.
  16. Something I just noticed about the picture with Jiwon and Boa that is kinda interesting, it's in a CJ E&M practice room (as evident by the butterfly trail on the wall). Six months ago Bbo was using one in her preparation for her Malaysia trip and also posted a few vids a couple months ago of her singing in one. I guess they maintained some sort of relationship with them to be able to do that. Click here to view the Tweet Click here to view the Tweet
  17. Boa singing at Doowon Technical University today, she's singing 2NE1's "Come Back Home." I'm not sure exactly what this is about but it has to with Malaysian star, Fattah Amin, wanting to work with Bbo and it has something to do with a remake of "Coffee Prince." The article says it isn't clear whether it's for a song or an acting part but Bbo doesn't act (or does she?). http://eh.com.my/koreabuzz/aigoo-bintang-popular-korea-bohyung-spica-dipinang-fattah-amin/
  18. Wow, it's been over a week since a reply was posted. Almost tempted to see when the subscription disappears....But anyway...... Click here to view the Tweet
  19. They also did it to Bbo on Girl Spirit but the way the voting worked it really didn't matter. I keep trying to find out what companies (if any) the girls are signed to. Bbo has to be signed to someone with all the stuff she's been doing. They had B2M listed for Jiwon in a post but that's not possible. They also had her without a company in a couple of articles. I'm going to guess that she's not signed to anyone (she really only did the 2 musicals this year so no need for one) but then that makes me wonder how she got on this show. Was she/SPICA enough of a big deal that they sought her out? Or did she somehow manage to get on the show by herself?
  20. Hopefully Wanna One's Jisung and Daniel can lend their support and get some of their fans to support her.
