OT5 SPICA....sorta...Narae left early (so she's not in this video) and Jiwon arrived late. It's Boa's Ista-live but it was Sihyun who uploaded it. I remember people saying SPICA gave off a vibe like they didn't really get along (I'm assuming it's because they never did all the aegyo, fake soulmates stuff like many other groups) but that's what I like about them, they're like real life work friends. They each have their own circle of friends (which sometimes overlap) but they genuinely enjoy each other too.  

 

 

So I finally watched Jiwon's King of Mask Singer episode and I think she did good on the duet but much much better on her solo. I've come to the opinion that she's better off as a solo at this point because when she's teamed up she tends to take a backseat and doesn't really shine. I guess I never took great notice to it in SPICA because of the massive amount of talent in the group, but during "the Unit" it became clear and the KOMS duet confirmed it.

 

She also needs to do a better job of picking and arranging songs for herself. She definitely did it right for her KOMS solo performance but during "the Unit" and her duet on KOM, she went for SPICA song styles, meaning songs that have have an edge. Jiwon's voice is like vanilla, it's smooth and soft, she has some power but there's no bite to it, it's great for ballads or even power ballad type songs but not for faster paced ones with a harder edge to them. That's what made her stand out in SPICA, and it was also one of the big things that made SPICA unique, they had 4 vocals with soul in them and then Jiwon's angelic soft tone.

I am very worry about Jiwon, in the news regarding her Masked King stage, 

she said she is actually diagnosed with vocal cord nodule,

but she still choose to appear on the show, because she just can't reject one of her dream.

 

 

 

 

She was diagnosed years ago when she was still in SPICA, but it never affected her schedule even back then. I'm guessing it's not a serious case because she never got surgery but she did get vocal training to relieve the stress on her vocal chords and in the process actually sounded better then before. 

Bbo's MV for Because of You is out! God I'm happy to see at least one of them releasing music. It's released under CJ E&M but I'm not sure if they're her agency or just the distributor.

An audio recording of the SPICA OT5 version of "Give Your Love" from the Japan showcase!!! I saw posts talking about how great it was but no one had posted a recording of it, finally someone found one. I REALLY wish this was the version they promoted.

 

 

Boa on US television!

 

Eric Nam did a segment on kpop with former Olympic US figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir, and Boa makes a small appearance in it.

 

 

Happy for Jiwon! I thought the only vote for one contestant thing was going to hurt her but it actually helped. I wish Euna and Semmi had made the final group because that would've made the group stronger. I'm oddly ok with the final group, maybe that's because they actually have have a decent of amount of real reboots in there and it's not just full of young rookies. I hope they keep the cute concepts to a minimum.

Maybe, but I think because the site that used to do the subbing things aren't inactive anymore or the problem when we share direct link of the video (banning stuff, copyright stuff etc) . Like X-Unnie, the one who subbed was Hyori's fan, not Spica's. And Spica was already known has a few subber. The one that still active is turnup speaker but they aren't active like they used to be as latest Spica's stuff is not much.

I think those are the main reasons and I'll also add in that some have been restricted or straight up deleted because people were re-uploading them under their own name pissing subbers off. 

A lot of the subbed SPICA stuff and even the unsubbed stuff is disappearing, I wish I had downloaded all that stuff.

I think Boa is back in the US?!?!

Jiwon actually moved up one spot, back to #4. I still think there are too many visuals/dancers and aegyo people in there. But then again the last elimination got rid of a lot of the vocalists.

TBH I don't care how the group will be much since it's temporary. I just need Jiwon to get that fame from being a winner.

 

 

I kinda get that but like I said after her boot performance, I think she's done enough that she got her name back out there so she should have an easier time getting acting and musical parts, and I don't think that's changed. As far as a singing career, I don't think that has changed much either but that has more to do with her age then anything else. 

 

To me the final group, as it stands now, it mostly a cute concept group (minus Semmi and Euna) so if it stays that way I think Jiwon will be very out of place and I can see her getting slammed by haters in the long run (even if it's just a temp group) and possibly doing more damage than good for her career. She doesn't need a group like SPICA per se, but to me she needs a group that is going to do more mature concepts not aegyo ones that much younger groups are already doing..
