I randomly came upon this old OH thread about irene's classmate not recognizing her? Was this ever corrected? The English translation is completely wrong so whoever did it must not have been fluent in Korean. The entire original post in Korean isn't there, but the part that is starts when the OP says "I opened my album and sure enough, she (Irene) was that pretty girl from high school. Her face is the same, her short height is the same (but taller than me). Why didn't she age, it doesn't seem she aged, so jealous. The oppa who asked me the questions said he saw her in SM rookies and exclaimed she was pretty. Even I who wasn't close with her knew her name and face and that she had a contract w/ SM through dance and heard this and that so it seems that she did receive rather a lot of attention from the other kids. I wasn't in the classroom during breaks so I saw her a lot while walking around. I thought she looked like Park Han Byul, Lee Jung Hyun, pianist Lee Bora. Due to jealousy or whatever, it seems the senior class homeroom/society teacher didn't like her (Irene). While walking the halls during break, the teacher would hit her butt or thighs with a stick or scold her and when other kids saw that they would be like there that teacher goes nit-picking again..that teacher was mean but after getting her eyelids done she became nice (so she's memorable to me). She (Irene) was well-mannered, feminine and shy (afraid of strangers) style and just normally ate and chat with other kids." (OP is basically saying Irene acted like an ordinary kid, e.g., didn't put on airs). So OP was not saying that she didn't recognize Irene but that she didn't realize Irene was her old schoolmate (until she did the naver search and found Irene's real name I guess). IMHO Irene probably did her eyes though...but that doesn't change the fact that she was still very pretty and well-known in high school.

Media commonly call young pretty girls "fairies" in Korea, like Park Jung Hyun, Kim Yuna, SES, Finkl, etc. But that would be soooo cute. They would totally match the concept.

OMG I really hope none of them actually did cut their hair.... Rather than looking down, Yeri and the rest look super tired. They're probably getting little sleep while filming their MV, shooting concept/jacket photos, etc.

Where is this info from? All the Korean posts that mentioned this rumor quoted an English article that said that Irene and D.O. auditioned but I can't find the original Korean source. Irene reminds me of Song Hye Kyo because she has that classic, elegant look, and many K-netz say she seems more like an actor than an idol. If not for her height, I think she would have debuted as an actor. I really want to see her act! There is actually a shortage of late-20s actresses in the industry right now (probably due to the fact that most of them debuted as idols instead), so with SM's backing, I think she has a good chance of getting roles.

Has Irene ever expressed an interest in acting? I don't know why SM doesn't cast her in a popular drama or weekend drama. It would be the fastest way for RV to get public recognition.

The story of BoRene started as high school sweethearts: stayed together through college as a "cc" (aka campus couple) graduated and worked together in the same company: finally got married!

Ahh I heart these two, they're so loving towards each other. I remember reading an interview where Irene said she would want to room with "Wendy who needs a lot of love. I'm going to give [her love]." That's seriously the sweetest thing I've ever heard. Wendy is always taking care of Irene who seems a bit fragile lol. They seriously remind me of Taeyeon-Tiffany's dynamic - loud, active Tiffany is always looking after reserved, pensive Taeyeon. People with Taeyeon/Irene's personality need someone like Tiffany/Wendy around.

I read some of the news articles, and the criticism directed at Dorihwaga is due to the poor directing (e.g., choppy flow, unconvincing love story) of the movie and not because of any of the actors. So it's not Suzy's fault the movie is below everyone's expectations, but it may impact her popularity. I had high expectations for the movie so I'm sad to hear it's so bad, but I'll probably still watch it in theaters.

OMG seriously I am so freakin excited to see TY and VJ collab in person, their awkward talk, and TY collapsing on the sofa after he leaves. TY+VJ = WIN AT LIFE.

I was wondering who the girl behind Taeyeon was during the Mubank Sky concert encore and it turned out to be Arin. She seriously looks like Sohee and Suzy put together (i.e., like a Suzy w/ Sohee's mono-lid eyes and quiet charm).

I'm seriously waiting like crazy for Verbal Jint and Taeyeon to be on the same stage for this song (it'll happen...some day...). So sad that he couldn't go to NZ with her for the m/v because of his busy schedule and that they haven't been able to meet up even once. TY was blushing like crazy when talking to him at Sunny's FM radio program, and they agreed to meet up later. :p I hope TY going solo means she'll get out of the SNSD/SM bubble, e.g., by hanging out with other crowds (VJ!!) and getting out of her room (lol). From the MuBank performance, she obviously still adheres to structure, i.e., prioritizing performance over enjoyment (similar to her drawing within the lines when coloring), so getting out of her comfort zone will be good for her and her musical growth.

Seriously, it's so messed up that SM (and other companies?) makes fans hustle by releasing the video only upon reaching a certain view count. It's a smart business move, but an awful way of showing appreciation to fans.
