  1. I'm not sure which storyline I'd want to see in a prequel because there are so many amazing historic events in the lore of ASOIAF that they could make literally dozens of prequels of prequels of prequels and still have content left over to keep going. Robert's Rebellion from the very beginning would be awesome. The Dance of Dragons would be epic though the SFX budget would be astronomical. A Dunk and Egg one would be cute but there'd need to be more written into it to make it more action-packed because it's more of an Aegon origin story than an actual epic adventure.

  2. I just had a thought about Jon and Mel...

What if she somehow figures out Jon is not a bastard and has kingsblood? The show has been planting seeds for ages and she was already suspicious about Jon. Now that Stannis is no longer in the picture, everything could fall into place just like that. She could also put 2 + 2 together and realize he can't be descended from the Baratheon line, which could only mean that he's a Targ.

The stories of Rhaegar 'kidnapping' Lyanna are well known so I think they would both put 2 + 2 together there too. This revelation would be a huge motivator for Jon to abandon the Night's Watch and forge a new path, whatever that may be...

The rumored Tower of Joy flashback in S6 could further tie into this too.

Imo this would be a cool way to do the R+L+J reveal, especially since any other way would require a lot of workarounds which i'm not sure are even possible with the limited time on screen. The most likely other option is through Bran browsing weirwoodnet but then it's still a leap because how does it tie into the larger story? He can't just be randomly browsing the archives lol

She must already know. I mean even if he were the bastard son of Ned Stark it'd still mean he has kingsblood given the Stark line are/were Kings in the North. But I think the events with Stannis at Winterfell have helped her to realise Jon's true identity. Like sacrificing Shireen worked, but not in the way he intedned. It helped in that it stopped the snow storms and literally showed her the way back to the wall and back to Jon. And along with all the visions she's had about him (more-so in the books) that she keeps stupidly misinterpreting,it's only a matter of time.

  3. Interview today with Carice van Houten (Melisandre)

Just to add to the speculation, Carice Van Houten, the actress who plays the Red Woman, has hinted her character will have a major task to perform when the show returns for a sixth season.

We last saw Melisandre riding up to Castle Black after abandoning Stannis and his army, arriving just before Jon Snow was unceremoniously killed by his Night’s Watch brothers.

“You’ve seen her clock Jon Snow, which is a great ending because you think, ‘Uh oh, what’s going to happen there?’,†Van Houten says of her character’s appearance in the finale.

“You feel that she is concentrating more and more towards Jon Snow … there are slight hints that something’s going to happen.â€

So, will this “something†be Jon Snow’s miraculous return at the hands of Melisandre’s magic?

The rumours of Jon Snow and Melisandre teaming up have been rife since she attempted to seduce him back in episode four.

While Van Houten is obviously under strict orders not to share too much information about the show’s future, she does let slip that something big is in store for Melisandre.

“I was doing ADR the other day and then the producer was there and he was saying something that I’ve heard before, which is quite spectacular, for next year, which I really can’t say anything about,†the 38-year-old teased.

  4.

Your sig... Stannis may be an ass but Stephen Dillane is one hot daddy yummmmmmm

Hmm... that means Jon can't be Azor Ahai since his sword is Valyrian steel.

Also, given that Lightbringer possess a soul from sacrifice (just like KQI88 said in a reply to my previous comment) I don't know if Jon sacrificed anyone before. So he is possibly not Azor Ahai.

Yes, Stephen Dillane most certainly is papi material  :lub:

And I dunno, since the show and the books are now at the same point in Jon's story there's no telling what could happen. I personally am a firm believer in Jon's involvement in the Azor Ahai prophecy because all of the pieces fit together perfectly up to this point. You're right about this two things, but at this point anything could happen in the coming book/season which could resolve those issues.
