  1. Nothing really serious but...IDK I've been in this thread for years here and there and it always bugs me when ppl are like "I think XYZ group is one of the rare 100% straight groups" and like...I dunno it just sorta sits odd with me when ppl past and present were like...so interested in finding a group that had no possibly LGBT ppl in it. I just aint get it TBH.

Anyways, on topic has anyone seen Namjoon's outfit during Jin's graduation V-live? [ x x ] It's not a huge talking point I know but the choker and the deep cut give me some interesting vibes.

  2. I've been wanting alice in wonderland concept ever since way back before twice when they were trainees and there was that one jype trainee showcase that had an "alice in wonderland" concept girl group. I feel like i even saw a few of the moves get used in Twice debut so this is like "yes finally it's happening!" for me.

    i mean...if it's true. but i mean i'd be rly surprised if it wasn't.

  3. You didnt even censor the word lmao. Okay sweetie. Oppa is still a pos who used a gay slur and almost outed one of his members in a spiteful manner. Let me just find the video. Yall give these guys way too much fucking credit for the bare minimum.

Honestly, seeing Zico even mentioned made me so...uncomfortable. because like regardless of any non-straight moments or w/e he used a violent anti-gay word in a derogatory way to question someones masculinity.  Like that's enough reason for me to not fuxs with him so i agree with you.

And all of his backpedaling with the SNL skit and befriending Hong Chul meant nothing bc he still never acknowledged what was wrong and IDK I just personally never like to talk about him in an LGBT way bc of how offensive the whole thing was.

on another happy note, i've been watching a lot of knk videos and seugjun's obsession with jihun's butt is hilarious cute. every other video i watched he would talk about it lmao and he makes it seem like the cutest thing because of the way he is. i think that because he seems inocent people really dismiss his behavior a lot and just think about seungjun being his cute self and not about his attraction (not on here ofc), or am i wrong?

I just really appreciate Seungjun's appreciation of Jihun's butt. (Plus I personally like to think he's not straight.) A lot does seem to fly under the radar but then again we also had Woohyun literally give an analysis of every Infinite member's butt so there's really a lot you can get away with. I mean...Jo Kwon and Heechul are still around so I'm pretty sure you can do almost everything but actual intercourse and be fine lol

i get your point, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with thinking people in confirmed straight relationships are still possibly non-straight/gay. my thing tho, is that people should stop placing so much value in ships all the time. group member interactions are obviously a valid basis for thinking certain idols are non-straight. but when we get into shipping in particular there seems to be this mindset of certain shippers that their ship is real regardless of any other evidence. and it just feels kind of wrong to accuse people of being in/fabricating fake relationships ONLY because you think your gay ship is real. i don't doubt that fake relationships are a thing in the industry for purposes of covering up sexuality or otherwise, especially considering korea's dating/marraige culture and conservative nature. but there seems to be a lot of bi-erasure within this talk of fake straight relationships, as if  a relationship is fake because you think such and such idol is gay, when they could possibly be bi/pan. idk. at the end of the day we'll all have our opinions. butting heads is inevitable.

I agree about the Bi/Pan thing. I think what personally makes me the most upset about confirmed m/f relationships being brought up is that they're often used as some sort of trump card to disprove someone who thinks an idol is gay, as if now suddenly all their queer moments didn't exist or don't mean anything now.

Not to mention that bi can never be just bi. in my own experience at least it's always been seen/used as the "acceptable" way of being gay bc he's not "totally gay" ( or on the other side as a crutch of "too afraid to come out as fully gay")  and there seems to always be so much stress on the different gender attraction aspect rather than the fact that same gender attraction can still happen. IDK if that makes sense though. I'm not like...the best at expressing my ideas at times."

  4. Under a cut because it's long and more related to the thread than actual discussing of gay things.

not gonna lie but as a gay man i find it really odd to see like people being negative towards not supporting confirmed straight couples. I mean I dunno I feel like there's a difference between a delusional straight fangirl wanting her OTP to be real to the point of ignoring other possibilities and actual LGBT people wondering if a person is closeted or entering into a lavender relationship.

and with a lot of suspected non straight celebs being in dating scandals or confirmed relationships I just I dunno I find it something worth talking about. Plus it's not as if there's any damage about thinking an idol is non straight even if they end up being straight (or bi in a different sex relationship). And lately to me some seem to be almost forcing others to think that straight ships are real or that they're "wrong" for casting doubts. I dunno, it just really rubs me the wrong way.

if a person doesn't think a straight ship is real bc of their ship or because they're convinced one or both parties are gay...it's not like it's hurting anything. straight people and straight couples aren't the ones being oppressed...

like we're here to discuss the possibility of non-straightness, not the possibility of straightness so I don't understand the focus as of late on trying to get people to believe in straight couples, whether they're real or not. Because like i said...there's enough straightness as it is, it's not like its a huge deal if people don't want to believe in a straight couple, because they're not the ones oppressed.

sorry if this sounds ranty, argumentative or makes no sense because I'm not trying to go for any of that. I just want to be able to come here as an LGBT person and, discuss these things without being shamed for not wanting to read heterosexuality into everything. And IDK lately, this place just hasn't really felt like that.

And its even worse now at a time where the LGBT community in korea is facing shit because of a proposed No Discrimination act that's being really shot down by a lot of christains ( gee does that sound familiar...)

    But on a happier gay note, let's talk about Hansol from Topp Dogg not standing for anti-gay nonsense on his IG, supporting homosexuality, and telling this hater he'd cut off their fingers if they didn't stop: { x }

  5. i want the truth to be revealed, but I'd rather the company just let her dance and them work this out internally, not with all this mess and trying to say that Alex doesn't want to dance when it's not true. and now even the few fansites we have are fighting each other and im just like....I just want her to be with the group and dance...that's all we ask...

  6. First time poster and a veteran oh lurker here haha

I noticed you guys use "post-army" a lot, what do those two things have in common? Is it like the male idols suddenly upgrade their public gay level after spending two years incognito to fans and general audience?

In addition I'd also like to add that if I remember correctly, a if a man is known to be gay he can actually be prevented from fulfilling his mandatory service which would like remove a lot of civil liberties from him. So besides the chance of possibly being murdered while in the army just for being suspected, he'd also face a lot of restrictions. So yeah in general it's just really important for them to keep things under wraps.

Which is a factor I wish was brought up more in  discussions about why [ insert name here ] is obviously straight or bi because of self-proclaimed love of women. Like...ya'll know how many "girlfriends" and crushes I had while I still had to pretend to be straight in high school? Even having dated someone of the opposite sex in the past doesn't mean someone can't be actually gay instead of bi. [ not related to your quote but just a point I've been really wanting to reiterate for a while now ]

On a less depressing topic, I'd love to bring up GOT7's increase in gayness after coming to the US as well as Minhyuk being more or less the catalyst of non-straight-ness in Monsta X

  7. A lot of times people would say that Jungkook was maybe just really uncomfortable with how physical and touchy Jimin was and that was the reason for him being so distant. I mean it makes sense to me. I'm not a shipper so from how I see it, it just looks like that, and then eventually they reached some sort of understanding and now things are ok? I dunno and probably never will.

There were times where I thought Jungkook was a bit like...excessively mean to him but again, their dynamic now is pretty different. I mean, I'm not gonna act like I'm convinced they have a thing going on, but whatever it is, I appreciate it and am happy to see good bonds between them.

  8. Hi Guys,

I've been lurking in this thread for quite some time now and recently decided to create an account and join the discussion :)

Has anyone listened to the new songs from NCT 127? One thing I noticed when I looked up the translation is that 4 of the 6 songs from their new album are gender neutral? besides the somewhat standard "babe" and "baby" part which in my opinion can be directed to both boys and girls. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Oh and I thought the following lines from the song "Limitless" could be quite interesting too:

"Let’s change the stiff world to be flexible"

    "This heavy world should change"

"We are free Look at us"

What do you guys think about this?

I feel like it probably was not meant to be specifically LGBT related, but it definitely can apply. It seems like it could be relevant to many things, which makes them good lyrics. Not sure if it's in the same vein as say, BTS releasing self composed songs with obvious LGBT overtones, but it still carries a good message that can be applied to many situations.

  9. I would just like to say that comments worried about this concept being too mature for them literally has nothing to do with hating the group. I've been pretty vocal about my concerns but that doesn't make me less of an IOI fan. Like I've said before the concern is the underage girls being exploited for the sake of pedophiles. It also comes from the fact that both original songs and the demo have really risque or just outright sexual lyrics, so here's to hoping that changes in their final release of the song.

like this is a concept I would feel more comfortable seeing from a group like SNSD, 9 Muses or an older girl group, not one who has members who are 18 and under.

But aside from all of that, I really really like how the song sounds and I hope that they'll be able to do it as good as the demo that's been floating around.

  10.

I can understand people saying it's unfair that Momo made it into Twice and others who had to do more challenges didn't.

But it's not about what's fair it's about what the group needs. The group doesn't need Somi. She's great, but they already have Dahyun in that position. Somi adds nothing vocally or dance wise - she would only be in the stan vitamin position and they have that.

JYP needed Momo and pulled her out prematurely. But imo he should have put Jiwon in there for the strongest team. I can understand why he booted Minyoung because like I said, she's unstable and people hate her.

    Wait people hated Minyoung? Why?

I'm really glad for Jihyo but I had a feeling it'd be highly unlikely she wouldn't make it. Making the group OT9 makes the most sense, the sisters now have a chance to be in the same group together if they stay with JYP, Somi and natty are so young that they have a lot of time to have other opprotunities, so I'm hoping we'll see the others and that they don't leave the company so that the rest of them can form another group.

  11. After SNSD murdered Jessica I need another OT9 to stan. Not even Nine muses can keep all their members. Actually...as much as I would like to see Jihyo and Somi in the group, I'm starting to worry if 9 is a cursed number. At any rate, I'd see Sana and Dahyun replaced by Jihyo and Somi but I know that aint gonna happen. I just pray that Sana gets better at singing and that Dahyun gets better at rapping.

In terms of singing/rapping the only members I feel comfortable having that are currently in the top seven are: Nayeon, Jungyeon, and Chaeyoung.  3/7 is actually pretty awful and I know people keep saying that "it's more than just being able to sing for kpop" but I personally will not be able to stan a group that doesn't have a majority of members able to contribute well musically to the group. Maybe the other 4 will get better before debut who knows.

  12. I apologize for being slightly off topic here but i've seen it brought up a few times and I just feel like I should say that saying you think someone is bisexual because they're so thirsty they'll flirt with anything that moves is just as harmful as all the gay stereotypes that there have been efforts to try and avoid. I'd also like to add that bisexuality is sorta like a spectrum and it's very possible to be more attracted to one gender than another rather than it being 50/50.

  13. Yuri and Sooyoung were weak vocals at first, and evolved over time. I think that can happen something like Yeri, I am confident, Red Velvet is a talented group, Yeri had not stayed ago.

I agree with this so hard. Like Hyo, Yuri and Sooyoung were never considered capabale but now they're all capable of reaching the 5th octave so I'm sure if RV is together just as long that all the members ( however many the final toll will be ) will become competent. I mean even Minho is finally being given actual singing lines now.
