  1. r/kpop Top Ten Tuesdays Voting Thread: Girl's Day

    • Rank your top ten Girl's Day songs. #1 gets 10 points, #2 gets 9 points, #3 gets 8 points etc.

    • Do not rank the songs in reverse order.

    • Upvoting/Downvoting someone else's ranking will not impact the results

    • Solo songs that appeared on a group album are eligible

    • OSTs are eligible

    • CFs are eligible if the song has been officially released

    • Officially released remixes/alternative versions will be counted as separate songs.

    • Unreleased songs are not eligible

    • Japanese/Chinese/English songs are eligible

    • Japanese, Chinese, English and Korean versions of songs will be considered the same song

VOTING ENDS THURSDAY AT 11:59 PM EST

  2. I mean, I genuinely believe the girls should definitely be entitled to have some free/leisure time to do the things they want. Bowling seems to be the fad nowadays, and I absolutely support my idols when they do something they love.

But I think that OT4 can do much better, especially during this period. Maybe one member can drop an instagram update of them recording in the studio, or a filming set of their MV to keep us excited? Even if they are prohibited from dropping teasers of the songs before the comeback is finalised, these are the small things that they can do if they want to build up hype and give Dai5ies something to be excited about. 'Hope' in the face of uncertainty.

Keeping in contact with fans through V-Live is great, and it is true that not all groups even bother to do that. But chatting with fans while failing to address the elephant in the room (read: comeback) isn't helping. The same old rhetoric of "please wait a little longer" can only be repeated for so long, and has become increasingly banal and dispiriting. Letting us know which phase of the preparation they are currently at is an example of an update that can provide some assurance to fans.

2017 is certainly not an era in Kpop where girl groups should slack. Girl's Day's next next comeback will have to be within 1 year after the upcoming one - like Kidaehae -> Female President and Something -> Darling (those were the good o' days) - for them to be back in the girl group ball game. If it hasn't already been obvious and proven enough, the act of continuing to pull apart the time frame between each successive comeback is a recipe for quagmire. After this extended 'break' in 2016-2017, they (and DreamT) should start to promote at least 2 times every 12 months for them to keep up with their competitors.

It pains my heart to see the group stagnated music-wise after all they have achieved this last six years. The last thing we all want is for Girl's Day to fall into obsolescence like SECRET, f(x) and miss A.

I apologise for the lengthy writing - lots of thoughts about their future going through my head recently. Love to hear from the Dai5y community about this.

no problem on lengthy writings, i enjoy them always on entasia back in the day. tbh, i always trying to maintain positive vibe on everything. as much as looking forward, i enjoy looking back and i always love the responses i get. but sometimes it gets really frustrating. i agree on everything you said there. i'm always worried on the management thing. like i hope dreamt should step up.. even a bit at least. i always thought that arion entertainment should interfere on the management and domestic promotions.

i dunno. i missed the times we have all these collabs, osts and special stages. no mentions about the comeback on past 3 v live broadcast. comebacks and music promotions are really important because not everyone appreciates dramas, variety shows and cfs. it's hard to picture the current situation. i was really expecting the comeback to be end of january. i'll be busy again next month and i dunno when will i be back. it's disappointing that here we are, still waiting to uncertainty. it's heartbreaking to compare the past and today. i miss the triumph and glory of 2014 because despite the negative things, a busy girl's day always made the day awesome.

personally, i don't even think about the charting and the competition anymore. i want them back promoting as a group again.

  3. Was scrolling through 'Random' sub-section when I came across this...

    Blackpink Plagiarizes Girls Day???

    1. The term 'plagiarizes' is a misnomer, because BP did not copy the entire song wholesale. Songs with the same name are a common and acceptable occurrence in the music industry.

    2. #TodayILearnt that BP had a song called 'Whistle'. Not interested in them, so I didn't know what songs they had.

    3. It seems like this forum is not running low on 'trolls with nothing to do' anytime soon.

    4. It's been a while since I've seen someone bring up Girl's Day outside of this thread.

Girls Day is still with BTR? I thought they were already replace.

i think they were. it's a good old pic to reminisce way back ^^

Some people are saying that their comeback is confirmed to the end of this month. Is it true?

hopefully, yes. someone translated an article that it might be delayed again, probably first week of february. but it's just one article

    so.. who knows..

  5. I want to say I really enjoyed the lively discussion here lately!

I also can't believe it's been 4 years since I followed this group via Minah (yes, she's still my first Kpop bias).

May I add that, at this point in their career, my expectation is not aimed for high(er), but realistic? Almost impossible for these girls to disappoint me right now, or whenever they'll promote a new release.

As long as they are healthy, and on TV, I'm happy.

i enjoyed this thread recently too :) i'm glad people are constantly posting updates. it's as active as ever. i miss the people who used to be active here back in rmb era. i backread the early days too, i rofl in the first 20 pages. i still miss our gsd thread in entasia. but i'm glad to see this place alive.

i agree on that realistic expectation. going to 2nd week of 2017, everything's still full of uncertainty but i'm always hyped when they have shows and activities. i'm clinging to their weekly v-app broadcast as usual hehe

  6. Fully understand your concerns man. Girl's Day is first and foremost a girl group that produces music, so it's natural for us to expect (no pun intended) that they prioritise pushing out new songs regularly.

I, too, hope that they do not stray down the 'less than desirable' path those three groups have undertaken.

strangefuzz, maybe you can also post the fan-edited version of the CF you shared on Twitter! I think it looks nice (:
