  1. Red Moon reminds me of the upcoming blood moon (red moon) lunar eclipse on July 27. Maybe they can tie in some promotion with it, like viewing the eclipse with fans or something, haha. The concept photos of Red Moon are so alluring and sexy. Our girls are blossoming into beautiful ladies right before our eyes! Praise their charms!
  2. I love how the girls are able to dabble and experiment with different genres instead of sticking with the tried and tested concepts. I am very impressed with the rate they are expanding and developing their musical abilities despite their busy schedules, which means they are very passionate about it and have been putting in a lot of efforts to perfect their craft. Being able to indulge in such is probably the most enjoyable thing that many idols and singers are dying to do because many end up having to rely on rehashing the same old tired concepts in order to maintain popularity. The challenge would be how to incorporate modern pop element into whatever they have come up with for it to become mainstream enough for the public to enjoy as well. I think Mamamoo did very well with Starry Night in that aspect. I am now totally hyped about what's going to drop in the next couple of weeks.
  3. First impression of listening to "Rainy Season": what a perfect song to chill out with just in time for this weather. Pop by a cafe while it is drizzling outside, get a coffee and settle down in a cosy seat, put on the headphones, turn on the "Rainy Season", then let the soothing vocals flow through the ears and the mellow feeling travel throughout the body. Put on repeat and enjoy the afternoon while looking at the rain trickle down the full-length windows of the cafe and watching the world go by.
  4. KBS MusicBank Live 2018.06.29 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-NKk103vEc
  5. omg omg omg need to catch it on Friday!!! KBS shows MuBank on Youtube live, right??? Hope Byulie's leg is recovering well. I know the girls will take care of her
  6. Love for Mamamoo and MooMoos for life! ^^
  7. I think I'm a hopeless fan because I have been missing out so much here in the past few years, and probably no one here remembers me by now. Did OH undergo some major revamp? Because I could no longer find the posts/replies that I made on this thread under my profile or using OH search, and the last time I posted was back in 2015 (which I found out via Google search) I am still keeping tabs on Mamamoo's activities although on a more casual basis due to personal commitments. The only kpop groups I support are Mamamoo and Shinhwa, and I am just so glad that the girls are getting so much love and recognition over the past few years. Back then when they debuted I was actually worried that they might end up going the path of Spica, i.e. widely recognised as an immensely vocally talented gg but never got mainstream popular. I am so happy that they are finally a force to be reckoned with in just 4 years since their debut, in a big part due to their immense talents, distinct and attractive individualities, as well as their synergy and mutual love as a group both on and off screen. That said, I was spurred by some discussions to give my own take. Hope you won't mind my rants, please feel free to skip them. I love you all! On a lighter note, LoSa is the first ship I stan outside of the Mamamoo's OTPs I am so happy for Hwasa that her collaboration with Loco was well-received by the public. (I am so hyped whenever I see the girls getting popular outside of the Moomoo fandom because I want everyone to know how talented they are! ) That said, I was watching "Dangerous Under the Blanket" back in early April, and was charmed by Loco's extremely shy and dorky personality. Then came "Hyena on the Keyboard", and the ship officially sailed. I may have to start watching SMTM 1 and 4 now EveryMoomoo-dy, don't stop your love flowing for the girls, and till the next time~~~
  8. Here for the three cast of Secret Forest: Jo Seung Woo, Yoo Jae Myung and Lee Kyu Hyung. Hope the trio of Baeksang wins for Secret Forest will bring luck to this new drama.
  9. E4 of the Chinese show 明星大侦探 is up: After four episodes (excl E0), I can safely say that the Chinese version is one of the very few shows which have adapted well from the Korean original. The show not too bad variety-wise, cast deductions have improved in recent episodes, and overall content/cases and portrayal resonate with the Chinese audience. I like two of the main cast 何炅 (often called China's Yoo Jae Suk) and æ’’è´å® (a renowned host) - who portrayed the two good buddies in E3 - as they can be all goofy and hilarious, yet are still sharp and make good deductions.
  10. This could be the best Korean drama that I have ever watched. It leaves me yearning for a second season but on one hand it is hard to get the whole cast back again, and on the other, the fear of a second season not being to live up to the first. My favourite character is the Lee Jae Han. Cho Jin Woong is such a natural in his portrayal of the role. I need to go seek out he other movies and dramas that he acted in!
  11. It's sad to see Dongmin having to take responsibility for everything, even when it is not his fault. He did not write the script nor say the supposedly offensive lines, but because he is the most popular person in there, the irresponsible reporters just decided to have his name in the articles. And now he had to apologize and leave Cobig due to no fault of his, while the other writer and gagmen involved did not utter a word. I am so so so upset that he always has to be the one taking the hit. No wonder Yoo Seyoon and Yoo Sangmoo said that they worry constantly about him putting trust and helping people who don't deserve his kindness. The Chinese forum is discussing about what is transpiring in Korea now. As expected, true buddies YSY and YSM who came from single parent families had come out to support him. YSM even sarcastically commented about having heard for the first time the existence of this single parent organisation who wanted to sue Dongmin and asked where they were when he and his parent were suffering from poverty and needing assistance. He also posted an old pic of ODS enjoying a picnic with kids from single parent families and Dongmin had paid for the outing, and this was shared by other fellow friends who supported them. Dongmin's fan cafe eminent J (the one who appeared with him in TG4) had said Dongmin fans are coming together to collect evidence to sue the malicious netizens spreading untruths about Dongmin. I really hope this will put a stop to all these pests spewing rubbish and bothering Dongmin. Enough is enough
  12. I think OH users are dominated by idol fans so not surprising there. My favourites are non-idols so it's hard to find people on OH to discuss about my favourite singers and programmes like Mask King. Luckily for me there are Chinese fan groups for my favourites and programmes whom I can share thoughts with. Chinese subs for Mask King are out a day after live airing, and I have downloaded all the Chinese subs for Mask King too, because I really like the programme. Like you, I also feel that it is a waste that incomplete cuts for most performances released by MBC has lessened the interest in the programme and resulted in i-fans not being able to participate in discussions as much.
  13. I mostly agree with the recent posts about Dongmin X Navi. When the rumours started last year, I already had fears about this relationship being over-exposed/exploited. Navi has her merits in the public eye as being an acclaimed but underrated vocal. She had very low exposure until recently when their relationship went public. While it's good that she is now finally getting more public recognition and has positive influence over him in getting him to become more healthy, Dongmin's over-enthusiasm in promoting her might backfire as she would be seen as riding too much on his fame rather than on her own vocal talent. Nowadays Dongmin's appearances centred around their relationship instead of his gags and abilities. Admittedly, part of this also stemmed from his image gradually evolving from being a Genius to the "nation's ideal lover'. This softer and less 'antagonistic' approach helped improve his image which was affected last year. I'm not sure if too much talk about the relationship will be good for him professionally in terms of less opportunity in showing off his abilities, but as a fan I'm fine if this is what makes him happy. I just hope he will be able to clinch a few good, regular programmes this year so I can see him at his professional best again soon!
  14. Dammit, I hate it that MBC doesn't release full version cuts of the performances. I must say that ever since CBR Cleopatra, I have not been rooting for another king until the current one. As for the other challengers who did not get a chance to become king, I love KCM and Muzie best. KCM Muzie
  15. Related news for those who are interested: "Youth Over Flowers - Africa" featuring Ryu Junyeol, Park Bogum, Ahn Jaehong and Go Kyungpyo "Youth Over Flowers - Africa" had just started airing last Friday. The ratings broke the previous three editions. Based on the previous editions, there are at least five episodes for this. If you can understand Chinese, the Chinese subs had already been released. I had previously heard that Ryu and Park's fangroups are planning to do the Eng subs but I'm not sure if they had been done. Teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nczvt49Yds Ryu Junyeol speaks English cut:
  16. To all who celebrate the Lunar New Year: wishing you a happy Monkey year!
  17. Brings to mind of Crime Scene PD now busying himself with Sugar Man, another music programme. Seems like Korean PDs are so versatile and can do any types of shows. And yes, I hope it will be good too. Jung PD is such a music maniac (evident in his selection and editing of BGM on TG) so I think he will excel in this new gig. I really enjoy CS PD's Sugar Man, which, despite some early hiccups, is now getting better and better, both in quality and ratings.
  18. I agree with Dongmin not appearing in future seasons of TG. In fact, back then I had already thought they should not invite past top performers (like JInho and Sangmin to S2) for succeeding seasons, because they would have been at a disadvantage, with others having known their strengths and weaknesses. Also, I'd prefer to see a new cast providing new dynamics to the show. If Dongmin joins for another season, the pressure would be insane - if he did well, people would think it's expected of him anyway; if he did not do as well, people would start saying "how the god has fallen; he's a paler shade of his former self, blah blah blah". It's always an art to always let people remember your best moments than to try replicate them again. (That said, we always thought he had already done so well in S3 that it is next to impossible to top that, and he went on to prove us wrong in S4. ) I dislike Sangmin too, not just on TG but also other programmes he goes on. He is at times too sly for comfort, and he gives off a kind of mercenary and sinister vibe. Just my personal opinion, as I'm sure there are others who feel differently and he does have fans who like him for his merits (I understand most of the TG podcasters and forummers from the US are a fan of his style on TG). CS PD (who's now busy with Sugar Man) had said CS takes at least half a year to prep, and it doesn't look like they are starting anytime soon for S3, so... I read all of LG manga and watched LG drama and movies as well. They are really fun, but I agree nothing beats seeing it being played out in real life. After all, real life interactions are unpredictable compared to the scripted stuff in LG. Nevertheless, LG is still such a classic! And yes, the production work on TG is the sleekest I've ever seen on ANY TV programme! The music is such an icing on the cake! I remember reading that the TG PD edited the programme according to the BGM that he already had in mind (instead of the usual way of layering BGM on the already edited programme) so you can really feel the programme breathing with life and pace of the chosen BGM.
  19. I vaguely remember Dongmin would be in some KBS programme this year, or did I just dream about it? It's high time he is back on public TV, given the dearth of talents there now. Off topic (i.e. Reply 1988):
  20. Not sure if any of you watches I Can See Your Voice, but this fantastic voice singing that lovely Reply 1988 song "Don't Worry, Dear" brings back so many memories.
  21. I agree that celebs should not be too openly supportive or demonstrative of love on TV, as it comes across as a little unprofessional. I was hoping Dongmin won't go down that route, but it looked like I was wrong, sigh. He had been enthusiastically promoting her on his SNS and it is starting to be a little grating. No wonder Sherlock Holmes consciously stays off love, lol. Welcome~ Yes, you've found the right place. This thread was created exactly for that purpose, as we did not want to spam the TG thread with too much Dongmin. Enjoy your stay here! It's a pity Bangshipop is cancelled but we can't blame TVN too much since ratings is after all very important to any TV station. At least they had given a concept a try and could glean lessons from it. Nevertheless it is rather upsetting to us as it means Dongmin has only Cobig left, and he usually only gets a minute of appearance on it. ONLY one minute of Dongmin every week
  22. Looking at Dongmin smile and stutter shyly when the ICSYV hosts asked him about Navi reminded me of the Bangshipop moment. Hyunmin did not have that many scenes, but his expression and gestures were so adorable when the camera was on him. I feel like pinching his cheeks, haha~ Glad to see him doing well on Code too.
