Hi! Could someone tell me the notes he sings in the 'high note' part at @5:23? lol Is there anything of notice here? Thanks!

Wait Kun is a main vocalist ? Along with the Dejun ? What ? I’m discovering NCT positions on this thread lmao. I’m pretty sure Yangyang is a better vocalist... And isn’t he sub or something.

Pitch and your overall 'sound' will most likely improve over time as you get used to performing more and more. But technique-wise, he sounds the same. Ten is also not bad, but you can hear there's quite the difference in development between him and Xiaojun when they'reinging the same notes.
I don't listen to Chinese music a lot, so I may be wrong, but I haven't heard any particularly popular Chinese style that makes the vocalists go breathy or anything. It's not like how Japan is accustomed to the nasal, kinda rough approach. I think it's just their personal preference, I've heard more skilled vocalists from China too.
Yeah, I'd say it is. The thing is, Haechan does consistently have some grasp of breath support but he's lacking in tone development. That's also one of the pretty basic foundations of technique too, his tonality is just underdeveloped compared to the others. Part of it's due to his unique tone, sure. But there's a bit more to that than just being unique. He sounds almost exactly the way that he did at 15, with the same depth and roundness or rather lack thereof. I'd say Chenle has better tonality too, but his grasp on support is lacking even moreso.
That being said, I'm not saying Jungwoo is particularly good either lmao. But you're right, he is singing soft and nasally. It's more obvious because of his more developed tonality, so you can hear how he's going a bit too soft than he should. For Haechan's case it's hard to even tell the difference because even during his better moments up to F#4, he essentially sounds the same. Jungwoo does go way too soft most of the time. I think they're both more on the 'weak' vocalist but Jungwoo has shown better moments overall.
Ten is closer to Jungwoo than the others (by extension, the Dreamies), but while he doesn't go too soft, I hear more shallowness on his part starting around Eb4/E4 compared to Jungwoo. It's kinda hard to tell apart and the difference is not significant, safe to say they're about the same lol.
Oh but that clip of So Sick from Ten was nice, I haven't heard that before. He sounds more grounded than usual for sure, and he's not going soft like Jungwoo. But they're both doing about the same imo.
Thank you for answering! Yeah, it's hard to find live clips from the neos other than the main, main vocalists lol

Don’t take everything Reddit says about NCT seriously, especially when it comes to Taeil (they confuse his tightness and placement as strain A LOT) and Doyoung (he’s also a bit underestimated here). I’m not saying you do or anything but they spread misinformation.
Well it’s true that he hasn’t ‘improved’ in support quality since he’s under SM and that’s not surprising when you know how SM training works. Main vocalists are scouted at a certain level and they mostly train their dancing to keep up with the others. That’s what mostly happened for Chen/Baekhyun and I assume others. Improvement mostly happens after debut, for a musical debut (Junsu, Doyoung), for a solo debut (Taeyeon) or for the sake of improving (Taemin and others).
Jungwoo’s overall approach is very light but he has shown the ability to be stronger with it. His overall development is better, Haechan somehow has some support going on but isn’t able to support the way Jungwoo does in his good days. Haechan tonal production is his biggest issue. They’re both weak/weak to average anyway, after Jaehyun I stop bothering in NCT lol. Same for Ten, Mark, Chenle, Yangyang... All in the weak/weak to average territory.
Thank you for your answer! Yeah, Taeil gets a lot of unfar criticism on reddit, the only thing I've noticed is that he's nasal sometimes, but they really exagerate his issues over there.
4 hours ago, StepOnMeJas said:I remember WayV saying on some show that Ten, Kun , and Xiao were all considered main vocalists of WayV
Most official apps either say they're all main vocalists, as in, vocal liine, or that Xiaojun and Kun are main, and Ten is lead, which was always weird to me, Isn't Ten better?

Hi Everyone! I've been reading some takes on reddit about NCT vocals and I just wanted to ask some questions here if you don't mind. Apologies if you've answered before, I backtracked quite a lot and couldn't find it.
Some of you mentioned that Xiaojun hasn't really showed improvement since he joined SM. I just found this clip from 2018, and I feel like he has better support now, and he's not as pitchy as in this clip. I don't know how much of that is due to SM's vocal coaches. Also how did Ten do here, sounds chestier than he's now. What do y'all think?
Also, do y'all think that the Chinese members tend to be breathier because that's a popular stylistic choice in China? Or is it just bad technique?
11 hours ago, ZRH23 said:Jungwoo could be still be stronger in his approach here, it's still kinda soft and nasally, but it's more solid than the Dreamies for sure.
Another question. Is Jungwoo's support consistent enough to rank him above Haechan? I feel like more often than not when I listen to him, he sounds soft and nasally like in that clip. I just have a hard time distinguishing these things, cause Haechan sounds more consistent to me, or maybe it's just that Jungwoo has a very light approach.
You said that his approach there is more solid than the Dreamies. How is that a solid approach if you don't mind me asking? How does his 'so sick' cover compare to Ten's, for example? 1:27. Thanks!

Oh god no
Hi, everyone. Is it just me, or ever since Big Hit acquired Gfriend and SVT they've been lipsyncing to those extremely pitch corrected liveAR tracks, even on radio shows? Like, that Yuju's vocals in that performance sound very processed to me. They've done practically nothing but lipsync to their pre recorded live vocals lately,

LOL you really have a short memory we talked it about it in private ....pretty much the same slightly better head voice moments up D5 with more cord closure( he's also been playing with placement with masky placed head voice ) but we're not there yet .....he just feeling more daring with his solo albums ( i feel like he's exploring what he likes with more display of runs which can be better than some of his runs in EXO repertoire )
@30:00 C5-B4-A4 and a nice D5 @30:11
@2:13 nice moments in underwater too up C5 , i'm currently listening to SuperM - SuperOne album and i heard some moments
I was just passing by to ask about SuperOne. I feel like they have much more vocal focused tracks that in their first EP so Baekhyun got to do much more. Curious about your analysis!

Actually in the past they didn't tuned singers pitch on sketchbook
0:40 she's a bit flat down that G#3 and they didn't pitch correct it
@1:07 she got a bit pitchy there and they didn't corrected in the broadcasted version
Yoochun is also flat in the beginning
again yoochun is a whole mess but they didn't correct it lol
but in recent years it got pitch correction it funny how every group(even the lead and weak mains ) has perfect pitch now , but it not just sketchbook almost all the music shows (including Mask king and immortal song )use some vocal correction
i mean how in the word are they so perfectly pitched ...it must be just actual talent and hard training
vocal legends of this generation
No one is ever pitchy on mask king lol
The Lia and TXT performances are exactly the reason I came to ask this, lol. They definitely don't sound like that irl. Thank you!

Hi, guys! I have a question. Do they do some vocal processing, or pitch correction in Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook? Somehow idols always sound more polished there, and sometimes they sound autotuned to me.

Super Junior. It was really fun, even if I don't stan.

Maybe Soompi? But in general, forums are dead. Allkpop is the most popular and it's trash. Everyone else is on stan twitter or reddit.

LOL. I just want to watch the world burn, tbh. I don't care for either group, but the meltdowns would be hilarious.

SM's best nose jobs, imo:
Maybe because they had decent noses pre-debut and didn't touch anything else on their faces, but they look really good even in super HD. I like the little bump at the tip.

Tbh it looks way too one sided to be a 'ship', Baekhyun doesn't really reciprocate that much. This 'ship' is nothing compared to what Chanbaek does. They don't even do touchy fanservice on stage (I believe most of the 'commercial couple' show their fanservice on while performing, am I missing something? ) and it all started way before online concert.
As SuperM is not exactly a permanent group like NCT or EXO, I would assume this 'ship' will give fanservice only while they are promoting as SuperM since Taeyong has to feed Jaeyong shippers too while promoting in NCT but this 'ship' is here while NCT promotion going on lol.
Then again we can only speculate. It's not really impossible for them to be another commercial couple, much needed for SuperM actually, even though it's only Taeyong who is being this obvious. New ship dynamics maybe lol and no one really knows when Taeyong's admiration really started, I'm more focused on Taeyong fanboy agenda.
1 hour ago, Libby21 said:I don't think it's even a ship cause baekhyun doesn't really talk about taeyong that much .. I don't know if it's a crush thing but taeyong just has a nature of appreciating his friends ... even his music producers like royal dive and square he takes them to eat at fancy restaurants and buy and decorates their stuff now I don't think his love for them is made by sm lol
Baekhyun saying out of nowhere in an interview that the person he wants to collaborate the most with is Taeyong is what sealed the deal for me. Also Taeyong saying this on a vlive, umprompted:
QuoteWhen I talk to Doyoungie about Baekhyun hyung, he gets jealous and goes, “oh, I see, that’s great~” Yesterday too, Doyoung told Baekhyun hyung when we met that “Taeyongie hyung only talks about hyung and nothing else, he really likes hyung~”
Fan comment: Doyoung is jealous, stop talking about Baekhyun
Taeyong: I really like it, I really like it when I see jealous Doyoungie, it’s really fun. Doyoung being jealous is my joy in life"
All this in the span of a week. Kinda sus, imo. But yeah, Taeyong definitely has heart eyes everytime he looks at Baekhyun nowadays. It wouldn't surprise me if he actually liked him, but I'm remaining skeptical for now.

Unpopular opinion, but the Baekhyun/Taeyong thing seems very fabricated to me. It all started to scale up after their online concert, now that SuperM is rumoured to have a comeback. Anyone who's followed SM groups for a while can probably pick up on this pattern. To me, they are the ship of the season. Reminiscent of Mark/Kai for the last round of SuperM promos, or Mark/Yuta for Kick it.
In fact, you can tell that SM is pushing the ship with the way they gave Taeyong a freaking budget to do the candy dance challenge, hair, makeup and everything, while Lucas and Ten filmed it on their grainy phone cameras on their way back from practice, lol.
Not to say Taeyong doesn't have a crush, but I didn't see it from their first appearances as a group, so it's kind of strange to me. It still reads as fan admiration from my pov.

He's yet another reader of ahmin blog lol i've already saw his videos , i'm not sure if that what you're looking for when he's not entirely objective he use ahmin analyse and add his own subjective opinions here and there like he put Heechul a tenor with no support above sungmin who's average and can support...i wouldn't recommend him

Got it! Thanks for the input, guys! Guess I'll take his opinion with a grain of salt. I kind of agree with the main vocals' analysis on his videos, but not with the rest of the members, so I see what you mean.

I don't know if you guys have discussed this (the search function can't find anything) but what do you think about this guy's vocal analysis? His name is Samuel Bradley. I'm trying to find non-biased rankings on youtube from people who actually know their stuff. I sort of agree with his points, but I wanted to know your thoughts.
