  1. There's people bringing up Christianity already. I see where they're coming from, but such equivalencies cannot be made. Yes, Christianity is often used to uphold misogyny, homophobia and transphobia, but I feel the religion as a whole is more receptive to change and progress in comparison to Islam. There are far more LGBT affirming churches, far more prominent Christian people that support LGBT rights, and Christian majority countries don't tend to make queerness a crime in comparison to Islamic countries. Let's not kid ourselves. Christianity is still a threat to women and sexual minorities in the West, particulary in the United States, Latin America and Eastern Europe with the political prevalence of the Christian right, but it's not near the extent it is to women and LGBT people in countries with a Muslim majority. Those countries are theocracies, of course they are worse. We need to discuss Islamic homophobia, transphobia and misogyny. Maybe Jeff Goldblum didn't bring up the topic in the best way, but people do a disservice when these talks are made and they bring up Christianity. Discrimination from Christianity doesn't negate nor erase discrimination from Islam.
  2. ... Are they using COVID-19 as an excuse to profile them? DON'T THEY REALIZE HOW FUCKING HYPOCRITICAL THAT IS?
  3. Feminism in South Korea seems very confusing: On one hand, we've seen how SK feminism has embraced #MeToo, which is how things like Burning Sun and Nth Room have come out from the shadows and scrutinized. On the other, there's sites like WOMAD who frequently post terf, homophobic and misandrist shit. Feminism is already divisive because it threatens male privilege and the socially acceptable gender/sexual dynamics. If its used as a tool of oppresion, it defeats the purpose of what it started in the first place. It especially pains me when feminists are homophobic or transphobic, because they're also the victims of patriarchal oppresion, we're supposed to be in this together.
  4. E.L.Fs. They're an old ass fandom and still clowns. Bring Sungmin back
  5. Once human domination is limited, life is allowed to flourish in other places.
  6. Holy shit. Read his original statement, and it was as neutral as possible regarding China. He addressed the WHO guy directly and called out his personal bias. But for China, anything that's not ass-kissing, is considered dissent. Anyway, he didn't lie, and right now it's not the time to kiss China's ass, because they've shown to be incompetent in handling a pandemic, while Taiwan has taken proper measures since day 1.
  7. Remember people, it's not that this kids are strangely evil, or spawns of the devil and what not. They're the consequence of a toxic misogynistic culture that permeates all aspects of South Korea. These kids are trash and should be criminally processed, sure, but the blame is not solely on them. Remember Burning Sun and molka chats in which grown ass men participate in.
  8. Were there truly talks with Starship for him to rejoin? Or is it just word of mouth?
  9. Someone showed me this. It stuck in my head, led me to seek more k-pop, and here I am, crawling in k-pop forums nearly 9 years later.
  10. I think the recognition of "fandom with the strongest mentality" has to go to fans whose groups have had members that passed away. Them being able to soldier on through such tragedy is an splendid display of strength. I am aware this is a sensitive topic, but I think we should give credit where its due. And yeah, I stan EXO, I have been through the painful departures, but it's seriously nothing in comparison.
  11. I expected this to be exclusively dedicated to actual damn good recommendations, but OP decided to be a clown smh.
  12. I usually don't partake in trends, but the quarantine makes me just want to be in the know of what people are raving about.
  13. Baekhyun and NCT's Jaehyun technically have the same voice.
  14. What they did here is even more illegal than getting a VPN for porn, and in places where porn is accesible, sexual explotation still happens. The point is not whether porn is legal or not, but the deep rooted misogyny in South Korea.
  15. D.O: someone needs to cook and sing us songs y'all Mino: He's entertaining af Sehun: Seulgi: I'm biased
  16. China has been a fucking mess handling this issue. First, they censor doctors and journalists who spoke up about the gravity of the disease, didn't take proper measures until it was too late, are reported to have stopped testing and lying about their numbers, and now they make things worse by scamming international countries with faulty products. People are fucking dying.
  17. I did not jump on the Taylor hate bandwagon but I did lowkey appreciate the memes so idk how guilty to feel.
