LOVE&GIRLS, the 7th Japanese single and the 5th track off of LOVE&PEACE, is a very summery, upbeat, and cute song. Though the song isn't fantastically great it still makes you think about having fun with your friends doing non-illegal things. The MV is bright, has a lot of colors, a crowd, and some drag queens *haaaaayyyyy*†Romeo: The single definitely screams summer, but otherwise it's a very mediocre song. It sounds like a Nishino Kana reject– 7/10 Matt: I know a lot of people refer to this as the shit stain in snsd's discography, but I still like it and I think it's fun. It also really reminds me of summer. – 8/10 wacist: It's definitely a summer song. The PV shows Kumi walking through snow and the lyrics give a visual of a sad love story set in winter. This song uses the cold and dark weather experienced in winter time to express how Kumi is feeling sad to have lost her lover and reminiscing on their times together. In the song Kumi is missing her lover but she is shown walking away with her bag, realizing she needed to move on which can relate to winter being the year coming to an end, but also the beginning of a new one. The arrangement is very beautiful with all the strings, but it probably should've ended earlier than it did (it got kind of boring as you continued on). – 7.5/10 Matt: This song is really pretty, but it's a little too long for my liking. Plus, I don't think I'd listen to it again. It really fits the theme though. – 8/10 wacist: Definitely a wintery feel like many ballads are. Nusumarete Kuchibiru is an upbeat but melancholic song that is centered by AKB48 member Maeda Ami and SKE48 member Matsui Rena. The song is about a girl and her partner on a beach enjoying the time of their lives until her partner kissed her on the lips that caught her off-guard. The lyrics of the song †Romeo: Since lyrics count, I guess I can kind of see the summer theme. There were better choices like Ponytail or Everyday, and this song is just alright to me.– 7/10 Matt: This is one of my least favorite akb songs, but it still fits the theme. Ponytail could've worked here ! That song is widely loved and amazing too... – 7/10 wacist: The whole feel of this song, from music to PV gave me more of an Autumn feel. Not bright enough for a summer song imo. – 6/10 TOTAL: 20/40 Filet-O-Aya × UTADA HIKARU – “Sakura Drops†https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlwCZm2MQbQ “this theme was made with utada's sakura drops in mind, and let me tell you why. utada sings about the "Summer rain that began to fall" and the "...a rerun of the autumn drama" and how "seasons repeated over and over/shoes are wearing out". despite the dreary lyrics about heartbreak, utada is still hopeful and says "Even so I will fight again" and "The endless pain of my heart, I’m getting over it". this is a song about spring because she states "Even the cherryblossom in the time sways/and soon they will blossom", about a new start, new hope. the music video is really beautiful and captures the mood of the song well.utada's dreamy vocals, smooth instruments and the sighs in this song make it more than another boring ballad about love. all in all, this song is a solid track from utada one of greatest album "deep river".†Romeo: I love how your description encompassed all the seasons of the theme. I'm using this as an autumn song and here is WHY. The songs instrumental and the way minmi sings the song makes it have a sense of longing. A longing for (the not too long ago) summer and also for her lover who is far away (so sad omfg im sobbing) lyrics "fragrant sunflowers, the petals that still dont fall, patiently" If you know about sunflowers you know they bloom in midsummer and stop around midautumn and this lyric is reinforcing how she wishes for summer and her love to continue on through the autumn like how the sunflowers have. On a personal note this reminds me of autumn because its so emo it makes me think of walking along rows of dead trees on a path covered in orange leaves<///3†Romeo: This song is so mellow and it definitely fits the autumn theme. I can picture myself sitting outside watching the colorful leaves catch the sunlight. – 9/10 Matt: This song is very Calming and enjoyable to listen to. It's a perfect and soothing ballad that'll make you feel like slowly dancing under the pristine falling snow and make the cold winter a little warmer. It features the worst rapping she's ever done, and just when you think it is over she starts singing and it isn't any less painful :( Not only does she sound terrible but the instrumentals are extremely basic and repetitive with a random and out of place 10 sec piano part. Her lifeless rapping and lame inst successfully make it into this terribly monotonous and boring song. If there has to be one song you'd delete right away from Namie's albums, it is Storm. Is there even a chorus tbh?†Romeo: The arrangement is awful and I dislike rap so much. Yeah and I agree when the piano started playing I was so confused. ANNOUNCEMENT In the last round Michael Jackson was given a penalty of -10 points for reusing the same song, however I did not disqualify him completely as the lyrics were changed to fit the commercial theme. This time, however, mikeYY_a sone_a panda will be disqualified from the competition as they submitted the same song twice: "Drunk in Love" for the "experimental" round and again for this "dark" round. I've discussed with the judges and have decided that I will be saving Kagome from elimination, however, they will be receiving only 24 points out of their original score. Mikey is not the only person to be eliminated tonight, however, as the person with the lowest score after this round will be leaving as well. Pay attention to the rules of my game!
