3. bunny × KODA KUMI – “Simply Lovely and BUTâ€

    http://ali-doll.tumblr.com/post/82607202578/simply-lovely-m-flo-koda-kumi

“I would have really loved to see m-flo & Kumi promote this song as a single. It's one of my favorite songs and I think it could have had a fabulous usher & alicia keys my boo thing going on.â€

Romeo: I agree with wacist, the voice doing the 'chu' gets really annoying. Otherwise I enjoyed the song a lot. – 8/10
Matt: I really love this song! I miss when m-flo had good collabs like this. I'm surprised this wasn't promoted. – 9/10
MARKYBEAR: this reminds me of chav music omg! this is the type of music I would hear them playing at the back of the bus on the way back from school! – 6/10
wacist: The background 'chu' got annoying and repeatitive. Her voice itself was pretty cool and made the song fun. – 7/10

    TOTAL: 30/40

    http://vimeo.com/25334188

I would show this to a person who's never heard of Kumi before because it's the song that made me a fan! I think this is a classic Kuu pop song and the video really shows what she's all about like her sexy/cute image. This song is fab and Kumi is beyond fab in it!â€

Romeo: The song itself is just alright, I'm not sure I would want to search more about her if i was shown this song. I did like the pacing and beat of the song and the PV definitely shows who she is, it's very Kumi. – 7/10
Matt: This song is Nice, but I'm not sure if it would make me want to get into her... Maybe if I listened a couple more times. I really like the PV though. – 7/10
MARKYBEAR: This is 1 of the only Kuu songs I've ever liked enough 2 download. But I think something lke UNDER would be better cuz it shows u her dirty side which is y she's famous. – 8/10
wacist: This song isn't that iconic for Kuu imo. It's an okay song for her. – 7/10

    Astral × T-ARA – “Don't Leave and Lovey-Doveyâ€

“Right off the fourth EP "Day by Day", simply my all time favorite T-error song.

Won't even analyze because it's so good you only need to listen to it to appreciate.

I would have promoted this -preferably during the winter season- because it shows a more deep and mature side of T-ara, showcasing their growth as artists to the public, and that they're not only limited to frivolous dance tunes you'd typically hear played in every 3rd rate mall/club/pub/bar/karaoke in Korea.

Respect and street cred are everything to artists like T-ara, so the choice of going for something so different from their usual commercial shit would have multiplied the number of Queen's in every hood by unimaginable amounts.

No, seriously, such a beautiful and full of emotion song, capable of making feel feelings even to a seoulles Caucasian individual such as myself deserved a better treatment and a chance to shine, so that's the reason why I picked it~â€

Romeo: The arrangement is beautiful, i love the piano and strings. It is definitely something that would fit winter. – 8/10
Matt: This song is alright, it's not really amazing to me and I don't think I would listen to it again. I could still see this being promoted during winter like you said though. – 7/10
MARKYBEAR: The intro to this song is soooooooo amazing. If only the rest of the song was that good! – 7/10
wacist: I love this song. Day By Day was one of their best albums. Too bad hwayoung was there though. – 9/10

    TOTAL: 31/40

From the repackage of their third mini album "Funky Town", I present to you the song that got me into K-Pop and T-ara!

With such ridiculously catchy beat, crazily addicting choruh-uh-uh-uhs, DEEP AND FULL OF SIGNIFICANCE lyrics

"All alone all day woo/All alone every single day woo/The darkness is really really - without you, by myself/ A day is too long woo~"

it is nearly impossible to get this mythical piece of music out of your head once you've listened to it.

Another reason why I choose this is merely visual: everyone looked on fucking point during this era [i'm just going to pretend that Qri's vomit inducing 0.5$ extensions never happened], so if I had to show the YT video to a friend, knowing how much everyone loves plastic Korean girls, this would be another thing to factor.
Plus, there's zombies in a club in it!!!11

One could also say that the easy to follow shuffle dance renders the entire product even more appealing, but I honestly do not give one fuck about choreography&dance [and it shows every time I go clubbing], so that's that.

Romeo: I've always seen Lovey Dovey as Roly Poly 2.0. However, it's really catchy and that's the kind of thing that gets someone to look things up. – 8/10
Matt: While I love Lovey Dovey, I don't think this would have gotten me into them if I wasn't a fan. I think SEXY LOVE would have been better here, but that's just me! – 7/10
MARKYBEAR: If u like T-ara's song of music then I guess this works as an introductory track. It's just ok tho. – 7/10
wacist: Lovey Dovey was their attempt at a Roly Poly rehash lbr. I think it's an okay song but I would've chosen Number 9 though I think you submitted that before. Maybe one of their earlier songs, then. – 7/10

delincious × NAMIE AMURO – “Shut Up and NAKEDâ€

“Shut Up is a track on the iconic Past<Future. I chose it as the song I wish had been a single for several reasons. First of all it's a unique song compared to the rest of the album, it is upbeat with a lot of energy and most importantly it's pop-rock.
Unlike the other singles Wild, Dr. Fast Car etc. which were fierce or ~romantic~ or both, Shut Up could have showcased a fresh Namie simply having fun with something like an outdoor band PV concept and bring out all the energy of the song!
It would have shown a different side of Namie rarely done with recent releases and a great addition to the album promotions!
And also it my favourite song off P<F and yet tends to be forgotten and rock is really the genre that makes Namie's rich vocals shine so I'd like if more people gave it attention and could love it as much as I do!!

    http://dumpblinnnnnnn.tumblr.com/post/82607685767/hhh

Romeo: I really like how this song has a kind of epic feel to it, this is my first time listening to it but I love it. The pop-rock sound really fits her in this song, great choice – 10/10
Matt: I f*cking love this song! I agree that it should have been promoted! – 10/10
MARKYBEAR: I think if ur going to make a good pop rock single then there needs to be a strong melody. The chorus isn't really interesting. It's a pretty flat song and I forgot it existed. – 5/10
wacist: YAS HUNTY. I feel like this song and Doctor were my faves from the album. – 10/10

    TOTAL: 35/40

Namie has such an extensive discography that it makes it hard to choose ONE track, ideally I would choose one from her three main eras so I choose her electro (and current) era, since its to bring in a new fan and it also happens to be my favourite.
Therefore I chose NAKED from Uncontrolled, and also a single prior to the album.
While the album itself is not really coherent and doesn't shine as a whole, each song on their own is seriously good and successfully turned me into a fan, so it will certainly work for many others (and has).
NAKED is simply a hot, upbeat and catchy, empowering piece of art and has minimal English. It is without contest the most memorable of the album and is a love at first sight (listen) kind of song, ideal to make anyone want more of what Namie can deliver. And she won't disappoint you when you then listen to her albums Past<Future, Uncontrolled and FEEL, and hopefully paving the way to her former sounds up to Play!
Also you can use it on people with depression and make them stand up and retake control of their life with those lyrics. Truly amazing!

    http://beautifulsonglyrics.blogspot.fr/2012/06/namie-amuro-naked-lyrics.html?m=1

    http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/Namie-Amuro---NAKED/12da634d1491bd9ef2e1cf8a0ab73252

Lastly, those two represent well my favourite Namie era when she was still transitionning to her current style that is electro-pop and still experimenting with her sound. Both are one of the first songs I have heard of hers and made me immediately fall in love with Queen Namie so they're very special to me <3
They also go really well together despite having been released with around a 2 year difference and give you a good impression of what Namie's music is about: fun, pop and fiercely amazing.

It's a bit long but there are only 3 ppl left so >.<â€

Romeo: The song is really catchy, which as i said before makes people look things up so fitting. I also like the arrangement, it's interesting – 9/10
Matt: The instrumental in this song is so amazing and catchy. Also, the song itself is overall really catchy. If I wasn't a fan this song would have compelled me to become her fan. – 9/10
MARKYBEAR: At least the arrangement in this 1 is interesting – 6/10
wacist: The instrumentals are very unique. Kinda repetitive but it was a fun song. – 8/10

“Hi these are my favorite songs from Kumi's debut album "Affection" and her latest tragedy "Bon Voyage" i guess pls enjoy â€

Romeo: Go Together is a really nice song, the arrangement gives me such a nostalgic feel. Touchdown however... it's not my cup of tea – 6/10
Matt: Go Together is really great, but Touchdown is shit. – 6/10
onyanko: I havent heard Go Together in like 10 years I forgot how good it is. Now I want to relisten to her first album, thanks! Touch Down gave me a headache, Kuu's ears must be rotting along with her amnionic fluids. – 7/10
wacist: The second song isn't too horrible I suppose. I liked the first song well enough.– 7/10

    TOTAL: 28/40

SongYi × FAYE WONG – “Youthfulness c/w Bu Liu"

“Although Faye made her official debut in 1989, she made her debut studio album in 1985 when she was 16 called CHARMING CARRY1474
the best song off it is Youthfulness, what a funky jam !

    http://giaitri.vnexpress.net/nghe-nhac/#id=380628_1&ac=play

her last album was 11 years ago and im sending in the ICONIC BU LIU if u dont give this full marks ill be PISSED

    â€

Romeo: The first song sounds so country, even the way she's singing adds to that feel, it was different but an enjoyable song. The second song had a really nice mysterious ambient feel to it, i enjoyed it as well – 9/10
Matt: I enjoy the First song! It's really Nice. The second song is the only Faye song I knew before this competition and I love it. Cute Carry reference. – 9/10
onyanko: Hm im not sure why but this first song makes me think of wacist riding a donkey through the chinese countryside. Bu Liu is cool too. – 8/10
wacist: The first song is weird to me, but the second song slayed hunty. A Faye song my parents used 2 jam to all the time.– 8/10

    TOTAL: 34/40

    xxdsmxx × AKB48 – “Beginner c/w Tsugi no Ashiatoâ€

“Beginner is AKB48's 18th Major Single that is also included in their first studio album. I really like this song because of the beats that are used in the song and also the empowering lyrics. This single is also AKB's first ever million seller.

For AKB48's latest studio album which just came out a few months ago which is "Tsugi no Ashiato", I will use Yume no Kawa.

    http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/AKB48---Yume-no-kawa-%2528eng-sub%2529/c856a98d5019b3efd5ee611bcaf9a4dc

Yume no Kawa is one of the b-sides from Gingham Check. It is Acchan's graduation song. This is really sad because it will be the last song ever for Acchan as an AKB48 member. There are also a few members who participated in the song besides Acchan which is Takamina, Yuko, Mariko, Tomochin, Miichan, Yukirin, Mayuyu and Jurina. I really really like this song when I first heard this song. This song is probably my first favourite slow song from AKB48.â€

Romeo: I really like Beginner, and Yume no Kawa isn't bad but it's kind of boring to me. It's only a little special since Acchan feels. – 7/10
Matt: Really?? Two of the worst akb songs... Beginner is absolutely awful and Yume no Kawa isn't anything better. The only redeming factor about Yume no Kawa is the meaning behind it~ – 4/10
onyanko: I hate Yume no Kawa, it's boring. I hate Beginner even more. What a terrible song, the true beginning of AKB turning to crap. – 3/10
wacist: Beginner is an okay song and I like it in general but Yume no Kawa holy crap level of bad and boring.– 5/10

    AUTOMATIC IIhttp://k007.kiwi6.com/hotlink/8emawpnlqt/06_Automatic_Part_II.mp3

“I chose automatic and automatic ii from first love and this is the one(tito). neither are my favorites from their reapective albums but I believe they illustrate the theme of past and present, especially since automatic ii is utadas way of remaking the classic song from over a decade ago. these selections show the musical maturation utada has made since her iconic debut. the former song is sweet, smooth in contrast to the latter's poppin, almost robotic beats and clever rhyme scheme. relevant lyrics : "used to be a virgin now im with island def jamâ€

Romeo: I like how you are illustrating the past and present, part 1 is a really nice song, it reminded me of the typical older pop song but still very nice. I can't believe part 2 is supposed to be remaking the first song, it's very modern yes but i don't really enjoy it. The "yeahs" were slightly annoying – 7/10
Matt: I like how you used part 1 and 2, but I hate part 2. Automatic is Fantastique though! A widely popular, widely loved song. – 7/10
onyanko: Automatic is a great song. Automatic II.....why would she taint the name of such an amazing song by having this trash as the 2nd part ugh – 6/10
wacist: These songs are okay. I'm not a fan of either too much. A bit too bland for Utada imo. – 6/10

    TOTAL: 26/40

    Astral × T-ARA – “TTL (Time to Love) c/w Number Nineâ€

“The legendary collaboration between CCM artists from their debut masterpiece and the only decent song from their most recent flop album.

If I don't get full marks this round I'm committing seppuku and you'll forever have me on your conscience!

No time to properly format today, sorry!â€

Romeo: TTL isn't bad, but it's kind of simple with nothing really standing out about it. I did think there was too much rapping in it. Number 9 is alright as well, i guess it was nice how it open completely differently then how the song actually is – 7/10
Matt: TTL isn't terrible, but I also don't really enjoy listening to it anymore. However, I love #9 it's one of their best songs IMO.– 8/10
onyanko: TTL is seriously one of the worst kpop songs of all time. If I played a drinking game and took a sip every time they used some version of saranghae i'd be blackout drunk before the 2nd chorus. This number nine song is okay theres nothing special or memorable about it. – 5/10
wacist: TTL is overplayed now but it was a gem in the past. Number Nine is still one of thgei brest releases yet especially Jiyeon's slayage in the MV. – 8/10

    TOTAL: 28/40

    delincious × NAMIE AMURO – “Present c/w Aliveâ€

“Present is a song present on Namie's Sweet 19 Blues and represents the PAST. It is a smooth and calming song with an emotional chorus, brought to life by namie's refreshing young vocals and the jazzy saxophone.
    http://www.4shared.com/mp3/5LjGza__ce/Namie_Amuro_-_Sweet_19_Blues_-.html

Alive is the opening track of the amazing FEEL and represents the PRESENT. It is a haunting and hard hitting pure EDM masterpiece like no one ever did before. It opens up slowly, gradually builds up until it explodes and everything from there is just... Bliss.
    http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/Namie-Amuro---Alive/cd2a88a1b6125d345ac213fd74e30bb3

I purposefully chose those two radically opposite songs to show Namie's growth in her 20 years of career.
From 90s techno/dance music and emotional ballads, to her rnb then hiphop era to finally going back to dance music which will find its peak in the form of FEEL and its most memorable track, Alive.
With those two tracks, you can hear how much her style has changed, how much her voice matured, how much more confident she has become, yet always keeping the Namie quality and sound she has worked to build, and always managing to never fall out of trend.
    Truly a queen!!â€

Romeo: I love the saxophone in Present! It's a very nice addition to the song. And the contrast of your two song choices is great. Alive is a nice EDM song that I enjoy a lot – 9/10
Matt: Both choices are really great~ I'm glad U picked both songs. – 9/10
onyanko: I love present, amazing track from an amazing album. Alive is great too it's one of my favorites from FEEL. – 10/10
wacist: I love the jazzy song you chose and wow FEEL's MV is super pretty. I never saw it before. I love the song as well.– 9/10

  9. bunny × KODA KUMI – “Get it Onâ€

    http://ali-doll.tumblr.com/post/82269453038/koda-kumi-get-it-on

“Kumi has quite a few Middle Eastern inspired tracks, but I chose this song because not only does it feature some classic middle eastern sounds but her way of singing is reminiscent of the way some Indian or Arabian songs are sung. I'm actually a fan of Middle Eastern music and this song reminds me of some of the songs I listen to, but with Kuu's signature flair of course.â€

Romeo: I love the arrangement, but the way she sings in this song is also another plus. Great choice, the instruments and singing pacing really fits the theme – 9/10
Matt: I LOVE this! The "shining star must go on" part is amazing~ This really fits the theme as well. – 10/10
onyanko: This instrumental reminds me so much of Addicted by Truth Hurts. I think this song fits the theme really well but I dont like it very much – 7/10
MARKYBEAR: Koda Koomi should become a Hindu because these hot beats really suit her voice! – 10/10

Host Randall: I'm not getting any Oriental vibes from this, the song is interesting however. – 4/10
Matt: This is one of my Favorite submissions of yours. I'm really on the fence about how Ethnic this is... I guess it is. – 8/10
onyanko: At first I was bored but then I started feeling like I was listening to a chinese version of some trippy 70's rock song but by a demure girl wtf. I would listen to this while playing dynasty warriors I guess – 7/10
MARKYBEAR: I'm gonna order ciao mein and jump around my house like I'm on the set of a wuxia movie after hearing this! – 8/10
wacist: Oh my, I didn't know she sang this song for Hero. This song gives me such nostalgia!! Love the blend of instrumentals and voice and makes you want to chop up some baddies. – 9/10

    http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/AKB48---Nante-Bohemian/5e20004f3e1c36aee4e7b70c2359bea7

“This song is a B-side to their 27th single Gingham Check and it is centered by Takajo Aki who got voted in to 17th place which is the Center for Undergirls. The song is influenced by the Bollywood theme with a few dubstep in it. It is one of AKB's better B-side during the 2012 imo.â€

Romeo: I was hoping you'd pick this! One of my favorite songs off Gingham, and it was the song i thought of immediately for AKB when i saw the theme. – 9/10
Matt: This is one of my favorite Undergals songs. The song is almost perfect except for the dubstep. – 9/10
onyanko: Wow I had no idea this song was based off of bollywood music I just always knew it was amazing. I'm a little surprised you picked this over Tsukimisou but its still a good choice. Agree with matt about the dubstep though. – 9/10
MARKYBEAR: It would b more ethnic if there was less white ppl in the MV. I think if u listen closely though the ethnic vibe doesn't really last through the whole song but just during the intro and pre chorus. – 8/10
wacist: As good as an undergirls song can get lbr. Fits the theme for the most part. – 8/10

    Filet-O-Aya × UTADA HIKARU – “Exodus '04â€

“this selection is pretty expected. timbaland renowned for his use of the sitar and most indian instruments(flutes etc) in his productions, and Exodus '04 is not an exception. what makes this song addicting are those string elements that play throughout this song. i love the contrast in hikki's voice when she sings with a lower register in the verses and the higher vocals in the chorus and hook. i love the way she says baby. i think this is a great use of the sitar and fits the oriental themed songs.â€

Romeo: I'm a very big fan of the ever constant strings, and ths song is really nice. And i definitely hear the sitar but it's a bit more subtle than i expected. – 8/10
Matt: I'm glad you picked this song~ This is one of her best english songs. – 9/10
onyanko: While Ive always liked this song I dont think it's as heavily ethnic sounding as some of the other songs. Maybe because the hiphop influence overrides the ethnic instruments on the track. – 7/10
MARKYBEAR: I think the lyrics are really good 4 this theme too. Moving 2 a dif culture. The chorus is a bit cheesy tho and overwhelms da hot arrangement... – 8/10
wacist: Fits the theme pretty well, and I like this song in general. However it's still rather one toned in general. Not one of my faves from her Exodus album, but it's pretty nice.– 8/10

    Astral × T-ARA – “LA'boonâ€

    https://soundcloud.com/ryanqri/t-ara-laboon

“Middle eastern inspired instrumentals and concept pictures; lyrics about "Arabian dream, typhoon, sand storm, floating in the desert sky with a flying carpet, etc" ------ This round I don't even need to digress on irrelevant things like I always do to make you understand my choice.â€

Romeo: I definitely hear the Arabic instrumentals in the arrangement, it fits the theme really well. – 9/10
Matt: One of T-ara's best songs because of it's Arabiac Inspired Instrumental. – 9/10
onyanko: I'm surprised this song is as good as it is. Who knew T-ara had 3 bearable songs! It kind of gets annoying by the 3 minute mark though. Besides the electro beats it fits the theme well. – 7/10
MARKYBEAR: It's an electropop song at heart with some arabic sounding gimicks to make u think it's special. Not ethnic enuff.– 6/10
wacist: yas hunty slay. I loved this song, especially with how much Jiyeon sings in it ugh her voice is heaven. I can't give it a perfect score because it doesn't really repeat the arabic sound as much as you'd want it to, although it does play a bit in the background every now and then. MAKE SURE TO PREORDER YOUR COPY OF JIYEON'S SOLO ALBUM COMING OUT IN A WEEK!!– 8/10

    delincious × NAMIE AMURO – “Fishâ€

    http://dumpblinnnnnnn.tumblr.com/post/82309567361/hjh

“Fish is a track from the awesome Style and featuring Verbal back when mflo was relevant and some other guy.
It is a fun and catchy hiphop song that heavily relies on its rhythm to be enjoyable.
But its true appeal lies in the combination of traditional and delicate string instruments and A+ rap and namie's seductive vocals. It is an unconventional and surprising song that is really nice and chill to listen to and embodies very well namie's style during this era.

It's a song that brilliantly mixes tradition and modern trend!â€

Romeo: I like the ethnic asian instruments in the arrangement. Definitely theme fitting, but I have mixed feelings about how i feel about the song in general – 7.5/10
Matt: Last time I listened to this song many Years ago I hated it, but I'm glad I relistened to it. It's actually really good and fits the theme. – 8/10
onyanko: Comment here –Wow congrats on picking one of the greatest songs of all time for this round. 10/10
MARKYBEAR: I love Namie's parts in this song! The men ruin it for me tho – 8/10
wacist: It fits the theme and is an okay song. I don't like the male voices, though, they ruin the song.–

tit × TERESA TENG – “Got West Storey Aloneâ€

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow4gPogI_8w

“fuck it doesn't get more ethnic than this
if u want lyrics/explanation go here

don't got time to waste to write a description byeâ€

Romeo: The song is really pretty, but I don't hear any ethnic instruments throughout the arrangement. – 3/10
Matt: This doesn't fit the concept. I like the song, I just wish it fit. – 4/10
onyanko: This song reminds me of when my mother would tighten the bindings on my feet so I could be maried off to a wealthy man. This is more 50's sounding than ethnic though. I'll give you points since the lyrics are about a girl in pre-revolutionary china. – 5/10
MARKYBEAR: What were u thinking U dumbass ho... I would like this song 2, because I love songs that have slow talking in them!– 4/10
wacist: This ain't ethnic stupid b***h. It's called boring.– 4/10
