It's a glittery, colorful mess with flawless visuals, lots of English lol and catchy ad libs - very Somi. The first listen was the MV for me, so I was blown away by the top notch video - AND NO BANGS ON OUR BEAUTIFUL SOMI'S FOREHEAD PRAISE JESUS - but the second listen solidified it to me as a great debut song. 

 

I get that the chorus sounds empty, but if it also were as bombastic as the rest, it'd be at 100 the whole time and tiring. Plus, in terms of choreo they can let the dance shine. Somi looks great, and her voice seriously improved so much. She's been great at belting for a long time but practice has given her a smoother quality than her usual brassy tone. There's only one point where I think it still sounds a bit much. 

 

Her rapping is great, and I love her little catchphrases like "oops, you're not invited", but the last part is my favorite. I really like whatever effects they overlayed onto her voice but it really rounds out the song well. 

 

It's gonna be so fun to watch live!!

i just have to say i'm super proud of this debut . Birthday is catchy and it flows really well. i know a lot of people will find it messy, but imo, it's the good kind of messy. the colors in this MV are AMAZING. and all the different outfits, wow, just WOW

Somi's rap is fire. and so are her vocals

 

Outta my head is an amazing b-side. i can see why people prefer this over Birthday. her vocals really shine here and you can see how much she improved.
