  1. I agree with you in that it is a refreshing twist to the saturated genre of dystopian YA novels. I guess I just didn't really like the way the story was told in the casual lets-sit-down-and-I'll-tell-you-a-story manner. But the connection to modern society is definitely what saved the novel for me. I read The Strange Library too and I didn't think much of it either. I think the images and the packaging are really what carry the book. I guess it's a nice coffee table book.
  2. I'm so bummed right now. I just finished reading two novels that were profusely recommended to me- presented as must-reads by various people I know and they both were disappointing. I'm especially disappointed with Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go since even my school librarian's been talking me into reading it. I guess when I figured the premise of the novel, I expected something profound from it, but literally got nothing... I think I'll pass on reading The Buried Giant, another title repeatedly recommended to me, but I am interested in reading his earlier and from what I heard "better" novel. Gone Girl, I actually quite liked but the ending just kills me. Why all the building up for that? I just feel so underwhelmed...like reading the novel wasn't worth the time and I should have just gone straight to viewing the film adaptation. I was so excited to really get into reading contemporary stuff once summer hit but the two I started with were such duds
  3. Awesome Sehunee Love:some Baby PB + DVD with photocard gift only. 35 w/ shipping US only
  4. I finished reading Catcher in the Rye for the first time a couple of days ago and was left quite confused about why it's considered something that everyone should read at least once in their lifetime. I found it to be flat, pointless and the teen angst redundant.    I've also just finished The Elegance of a Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery which was an interesting reading experience, though I don't necessarily like the book. My English teacher gave it to me as a middleman for an anonymous person who thought I'd like it. Throughout the reading I was trying to figure out why anyone would think I liked the novel though, for it was rather pretentious, in my opinion. Barbery philosophized every little thing and it was absolutely grating. There were some clever allusions and whatnot but it was overall just too much in addition to the sometimes challenging diction. Also, the book is foreign (to me anyway, I don't know where you guys are from). I believe it's by a French author so maybe it was just crap translations though I doubt it. Anyway, if any of you have any European contemporary novels that you would like to recommend, please do. I am interested in them.   For a nonfiction read, I very much enjoyed Quiet by Susan Cain. It's a book that I needed to read and if you're an introvert, I recommend you read it too.    Hope everyone's been finding time to read  :)
  5. My favorite has got to be MPST as well. Ideally, I would like to own all of the PB sets that she releases. I was reluctant to place an order at first because there was a rumor going around that the fansite master would likely scam but I saw the video trailer for the set and cosindering MPST's gorgeous shots, I just had to take that risk. I've never really paid much attention to CBKai though...how's Stunning Scene? Yes, I think I was indeed referring to your post. I would have to agree with you that Die Jungs is a must have, Exology, I'm not too sure. Exology doesn't really have the styling, the photography and the perfection that Die Jungs has. I think there's more to appreciate about the latter, and even if I were to leave the fandom (god forbid) I wouldn't be able to part ways with it. It can be a really nice coffee table book, I mean I think even non fans can marvel and enjoy flipping through it. As for MPST, I would bet that everything is 10/10. I really regret not getting their calendar. I'm surprised that the fansite master incorporated airport pictures at all since Original Film A is basically all onstage/official events. Omg why are you asking me if KNK is good? Shouldn't I be the one who's asking? Lol but please do tell how the set is when you receive it. I would imagine it'll be nice to look through since there's a Kai book and a Jongin book. I know I'm late on this, but happy birthday to Kai! I have a soft spot for pictures of Kai at the airport that don't fully show his face or if at all. They make me feel so sentimental and gross but hey I am totally digging his jacket here, his hair looks soft and fluffy and ideal, the cool tone of the pictures are really nice! Also, I can't believe that a certain Sehun Oh did not post a birthday greeting for Kai on IG! I was totally waiting for some be all end all Sekai picture that will finally end the world as I know it but nothing. I think my ship's sunk
  6. I'm very unhappy with Kai's new hair as are all of you guys...I should be celebrating his birth not mourning for his hair, I can't believe his team of stylists and managers let that happen! The post about it being the soccer mom color is too true. Looking through fansite pictures and fanarts that are posted today in light of his birthday, I've realized how amazing it is what Kai can inspire people to create. For example, I honestly think that Kai's fansites conceptualize the best photobooks... I mean MPST's Original Film A, MLGC's Peeping and MiDe's Moonstrukk are such beautiful books. And the fanarts get so creative! He is honestly any artist's dream muse. Just wondering, I know someone a week or so earlier posted pics of a photobook set she got, but do any of you guys own photobooks too? I'm really curious as to which are your favorite books.
  7.   Might have something to do with the fact that I was rushing through it to be honest. I hope you're enjoying Love in the Time of Cholera! I think I prefer that one over One Hundred Years of Solitude.      Currently working on Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility  :)
  8.   I've only found time to read a few chapters but I like it a lot. I can't say much about it save for the fact that it's a very fluid read though. I remember a paragraph where she compares being a foreigner in a country to being pregnant and thought that was quite ingenious.
  9. I was verbally debating (albeit to myself) the other day whether or not I loved Kai flaws and all or if I loved him despite his flaws and my sister couldn't believe that there was a difference. Frankly, I don't see any flaws in Kai anymore; I merely accept everything as a part of him. And I totally adore him 102% That being said, I don't really have preferences in the way he's styled (blonde, silver haired, etc.) but there was quite a certain wow factor in that getup! Sorry, I seemed to have forgotten that Kai fans are notorious for being thirsty! I honestly thought that a nape post wouldn't lead to anything too lewd, but this is the Kai thread what was I thinking?! I completely agree with you though!!!!!!! Even the thought of merely caressing his nape... My fave shot of the booty. So shapely
  10. Usual lurker on here, but for the cause, here are some pictures of yet another fantastic body part of his. I love his nape! Literally every single part of his body deserves an appreciation post of some sort. Eyes, endearing. Jawline, majestic. Legs, to-die-for. On a side note, I especially love the last image posted. Sometimes those fansite noonas just go overboard with the airbrush tool when it's not needed.
  11. I just finished reading The Wind-up Bird Chronicle and I'm honestly feeling a little cheated of the time I spent on it. It was quite honestly an agonizing read. Throughout my reading, I felt that Murakami was downright insulting his readers intelligence by over explaining every little thing. I had strong urges to drop the book since not a lot was going on in the beginning but I figured that my efforts would be repaid by an ending that would blow my mind or at least bring things together. I am sad to say that I was let down. All the little backstories/subplots seem like clutter along with the characters who delivered them though the snippets on war were what I liked most. I don't really have anything worthwhile to say about this book right now because I feel very aggravated for having taken the time to finish it...Frankly, one of the most underwhelming and laborious reads.    At the present time, I am starting Jhumpa Lahiri's The Namesake and I am very excited  :)
  12. http://fykai.tumblr.com/ do enjoy
  13. https://vine.co/v/OHaA0nABaZY His voice so loud and clear and beautiful I'm not sure I'm OK right now. Honestly, how lucky are those fans in the venue who got to revel in the presence of this man and his voice and his dance. They must have had the Christmas of their lives!
  14.   Kafka on the Shore was my first Murakami novel and it blew me away. Unfortunately it doesn't garner as much interest or praise as Norwegian Wood.    Yeah, sure. My profile is right here https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/6236678-czar
  15. I just found this thread and I just wanted to say that I enjoyed skimming through the discussions and recommendations as well! My own recommendations include The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami East of Eden by John Steinbeck I'm currently plowing through Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles in hopes of finishing as soon as possible so I can read a couple more books by the end of the year and fulfill my 2014 goodreads reading challenge
  16. Aren't press photos supposed to be unflattering though? This pic is on par with the really perfected shots of his fansites. He looks so incredibly dashing and awake today that it's almost hard to believe that he is the same sleepy eyed boy I was fawning over only hours ago! ALSO I AM SO THANKFUL FOR CHANYEOL'S EXISTENCE HE DESERVES HIS 3 MILLION FOLLOWERS I MEAN LOOK AT THEM THEY LOOK SO GOOD EVEN BAEKHYUN IN THE CORNER BUT OH GAAHHHHH KAI I'm rather meh at the fact that he's looking at the screen instead of shooting lasers into the camera though. Like damn boy, you are the hottest mammal around, out of all people, you can afford to not look at the screen when taking a selfie. This is the first time I've ever lost all control of myself over a popstar, I am so embarrassed. Thank you for this thread.
  17. He has such a pretty body and his damn ankles are so nice.
  18. Is it just me or is he just so extra these days? I'm literally so ruined.
  19. <- literally my reaction except I was straight up crying. I am currently working on creating a new religion in which I will make sure to write scriptures that will damn him eternally. This... This is just unacceptable
  20. Here I am with a pimple a lovely pimple the size of a meteor on my face.
  21. Sehun and Kai sat next to each other on the plane to Singapore
  22. I'm just trying to hit 100 posts so I can request a Kai badge, excuse me
  23. Exquisite performer! This boy needs to be hung in the Louvre
  24. He is literally more mass destruction than he is man.
