  1. I'm very happy with the way that this drama turned out and the way that Dong Joo turned out. He was young, immature and had much to learn as a doctor and what a doctor he's turning out to be. I loved that scene with Master Kim where he says that he understands Master Kim's actions because he's a doctor now too. Initially, I hadn't really heard much about this drama except for who the leads were going to be, but it ended up being one of the best dramas of 2016 for me. Also, at least on DB, I see many people wondering why this drama is so popular in South Korea and I think the Korea Times sums it up beautifully one of the reasons why I and likely many others also enjoy this drama. With all of the crap going on in South Korea and with many doubts as to whether or not the "bad guys" will be punished, it's nice to watch a drama where those who deserve to be punished finally get their retribution. [The Korea Times] 'Romantic Doctor' puts injustice under knife By Park Jin-hai Fresh updates on the nation's largest corruption scandal involving President Park Geun-hye and her close confidant Choi Soon-sil pop up every day, fanning anger and frustration about society's deep seated injustice and inequality. "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim," a well-crafted medical drama currently airing on SBS reflects this society's injustice and inequality and continues to draw viewers. The drama, after sweeping the broadcaster's annual drama awards this year gaining seven trophies, including the Grand Prize Award given to its lead actor Han Suk-kyu, has once again topped its own viewership record. With three more episodes left, the latest episode Tuesday posted a 25.1 percent viewer rating, according to media ratings company Nielsen Korea. The drama started out with a 9.5 percent viewership rating. The first episode opened with a male voice that drew in the viewers with the line, "In an era of injustice, an era of inequality, an era full of discontent and distrust, it became an era when patients were discriminated against." "Romantic Doctor" tells the story of a celebrated surgeon who leaves his former workplace to work in a small hospital in a remote rural area, where he becomes "Teacher Kim" and teaches two young doctors the true meaning of being a doctor. Whereas the star-studded "Doctors," that aired on SBS last June, placed more emphasis on romance than actual hospital treatment, the Monday-Tuesday series shines with its outstanding directing and solid plot. In each fable-like episode, the drama is packed with tension and mysteries that make the viewers cringe, from social messages criticizing the privileged to a bit of romance that doesn't get in the way to take the weight off the story. The drama deals with a range of issues, including a rich mother who shows no remorse and remains nonchalant to victims after her son's reckless drunk driving killed people; the request of the cover-up for the death of a deserter beaten to death; loopholes in the current medical system and a lack of control at the time of the MERS outbreak. Local critics say, as people blatantly face how unequal this society is after experiencing the Choi Soon-sil gate, "Teacher Kim" who stands firm against the social ills and sticks to his oath of saving lives has earned the hearts of viewers. With outdated medical equipment, Kim shows god-like surgical skills under the belief that every patient, regardless of economic or social class, has the right to fair medical treatment. He treats patients based on priority of their need, not their money. "In an age where the truth is concealed, in an age where truth submits to power, baseless rumors and a plethora of tales have been piled up while the truth has been forced to take a back seat. And it's become hard to tell what is real and what is fake. Such is the world we live in," says the narration of the drama. In the latest episode titled "Moment of Truth," a reporter tailing Kim to uncover Kim's mysterious past says, "People want truth." Then, Kim asks back, "If you get to know the truth, you have to have the courage to speak out." The short line had impacted viewers deeply, as it came soon after local reporters were under fire after they were recently called in to write down what they heard from President Park, who denied all allegations against her in the corruption, disallowing reporters the use of their cell phones, laptops and cameras.
  2. When I heard that Cheetah and Sung Hwan would be performing a song about Sewol, I knew that there was no way that they would lose. I'm kind of hoping that Jang Ki Yong pulls a So Ji Sub and raps on the side once in a while. Their career paths are also sort of similar in that So Ji Sub also started out as a model and then got into acting.
  3. Well he was instructed by the previous king to protect his little brother so that's probably why Kim Shin didn't kill the king. Plus logically, it's probably not a good idea to reveal that you're magically still alive to someone who wanted you dead, and you plan on keeping them alive, but not captive.
  4. lol when I was reading a recap of the SBS Drama Awards Ceremony, it was brought to my attention that the male nurse in RDTK is played by the same actor who is the young king in Goblin Hairstyles can really make a person look entirely different.
  5. I like TOP's answers to questions like How is the food in YG cafeteria, what is YG family, what is YG to me, etc. I thought it was amusing and interesting how he gave unconventional answers that frankly, sound more honest than some of the other answers that have been provided over the years. At the end of the day, YG is a business and one day you can be a part of the so-called family and the next day, there's mudslinging. Overall, I found the Radio Star episodes to be very interesting and fun to watch. The questions and stories they talked about were very different from other shows.
  6. I just remembered that I bookmarked this interview while OH was down. I really loved really reading it. The answer that especially stood out was this one Q. Fans are not happy with YG delaying the returns of many contracted musicians. Why do you say it takes particularly long for YG artists to come back? A. G-Dragon: I want to point out, as our fans hate Yang Hyun-suk, thinking that he is delaying the release of our new album. But he cares about BIGBANG more than anybody and he always asks us when our work will be done too. But like I said before, we have to be satisfied with the songs before we put them onto an album and we always ask him to delay the release date. We are in control of our album while other entertainment companies have control over their musicians' schedules and album preparations. A. T.O.P: We do not star in TV shows often and people think we are resting but we are actually traveling around the world on world tours. We spend more than half the year abroad and we barely have time to work on our albums. Full article under the spoiler tag Credits: Korea Times [INTERVIEW] BIGBANG speaks about last album 'MADE'
  7. Omg, I actually have to resist screaming and cackling with laughter. All of these articles and gifs from their Radio Star episode make me want to lol.
  8. I've only started watching the show, but isn't the concept of this season to have celebrities that aren't professionally rappers and have them rap with famous rappers? Then how is it fair for DIA's Eunjin to be on the show when she's the lead rapper of an idol group?
  9. Omg, OH is back. I'm so mad that it was down when BIGBANG was finally making their final comeback. And I was so afraid that Hallyu8 2.0 situation was happening all over again. I wish there were more new songs, but the songs that they did release were everything that I wanted them to be. Especially Last Dance. Whenever I miss them, I'll probably play that song. It'll most likely be like that. They seem to be the following the same format as they did when the cast of Asura came out (Part one is talking, 2nd part is an activity).
  10. omg they both look so cute together in these photos #relationshipgoals
  11. I am so amazed at how accurate some of the guesses were on Seo-Jung's backstory. Also, I'm glad that Do In Beom is not going to fall in love with Seo-Jung. I wasn't really looking forward to having a love triangle and Seo-Jung already has to deal with her issues with her dead ex-boyfriend.
  12. Congrats to Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim! Hopefully the ratings will surpass 20% outside nationwide too. 'Romantic Doctor' tops 20 percent viewership SBS' new medical drama "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" is gaining greater popularity among TV viewers week after week. The Monday-Tuesday series posted a viewership rating of 20.3 percent in Seoul after its sixth episode aired Tuesday, according to media ratings company Nielsen Korea, making it one of the most popular K-dramas this season. Viewers' ratings for the nation recorded 18.9 percent. "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim," starring veteran actor Han Suk-kyu, Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin, tells the story of a celebrated surgeon who leaves his former workplace to work in a small hospital, where he becomes "Teacher Kim" and teaches two young doctors the true meaning of being a doctor. The 20 percent viewership is a remarkable feat, considering any program netting over 10 percent viewership is regarded as a success. Viewers gave high marks to the plot that features the doctors' struggle against the powerful figures at the big hospital. Actor Han's strong performance as well as all cast members received positive reviews from viewers. Its first episode started out gaining 9.5 percent nationwide viewership, but it continued to rise to 12.4 percent for its third, to 13.8 percent for the fourth and 16.5 percent for the fifth episode. MBC's "Night Light" and KBS' "Sweet Stranger and Me," airing in the same time slot, recorded viewership ratings of 6.3 percent and 3.9 percent, respectively. cr: Korea Times
  13. People on OH get way too defensive and butthurt when people criticize an idol's acting or say they're not excited to see them in xx project because based on the work they've done so far, they've haven't been that/just so-so.
  14. So I didn't like the 1st episode and felt really disappointed when I found out who the writer was. The second episode is a lot better, but I think it's still too early for me to say whether or not I'll like this drama or end up dropping it. I'm really surprised that they're university students. In some ways, they seem like they're younger than university students, and they hardly ever focus on anything besides their sport. I wonder if that's really how it's like in sports universities in Korea.
  15. Heo Jung Eun is so adorable. So far, this drama has been giving me exactly what I was looking for and I'm thrilled. I can't wait to see how the daughter-daddy relationship improves. I feel sad about the ratings. It was expected, especially with Legend of the Blue Sea, but I hope that they improve over time.
  16. This was a really cute drama. I watched all of the episodes in one sitting and didn't get sick of it, which is always a good sign that a drama is great.
  17. Omg, according to the people over on Soompi and DB, there was a broadcasting glitch that affected the ending. Click below for the corrected version of the ending http://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=incarnationjealousy&no=87052&page=8
  18. Jealousy Incarnate is a fantastic drama. I love how it started out as a romantic comedy and ended as a romantic comedy. Often, k-dramas that start out as romantic comedies end up losing the comedy part of it and turn into romantic angsty dramas. I need next week's dramas already because I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters and I need something to help me get over Jealousy Incarnate. After seeing the actress who plays the nurse on Mask Singer, I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't fully utilize the nurse's singing skills. I can't believe that he doesn't already have one. I'd be willing to provide my support, but I don't have enough posts to claim another badge right now.
  19. - Go Ho's Starry Night - Moon Lovers - Jealousy Incarnate Dramas I'm still actively watching right now I find that I start a lot of dramas, but then I end up not having enough time to finish all of them. I don't like all of them equally so I end up shelving a lot of dramas.
  20. Okay, so far, I'm loving this season. Eric is an amazing cook and has so many useful tips. Seo Jin is still same old Seo Jin. Dimples, somewhat grumpy, looks out for the maknae, and eventually, he gets around to doing a lot of work. Yoon Kyun Sang's cats are so cute and he's kind of very clueless which makes it all the more entertaining when we literally have an entire of him just deciding on what he should do. I could be wrong, but I think the orange one is a dwarf cat.
  21. Seungri's letter This is why I wish I could meet Seungri just once so I can get him to ask me who his favorite member in BIGBANG is. In my earlier years of stanning BIGBANG, I watched a lot of variety shows and I noticed that most people usually said it was X, Y, or Z member instead and just for a moment, you can see a look of disappointment/sadness on his face.
  22. Yeah, so when they're talking about things like there being no gas stoves and TV and making a big deal out of it, I'm like um, that's how it's always been for Lee Seo Jin? Chajumma's season got so many luxuries in comparison to Seo Jin's seasons xD.
  23. I've just spent the last 15 minutes looking up old tv shows that I watched as a kid and reading the spoilers aka the parts of the shows that I was not able to see. It makes me wish that I was able to easily search for watch TV shows using the Internet instead of actually watching them through the television and being forced to adhere to the broadcaster's schedule and subjected to the re-runs. So many great endings. Wish it didn't take so long for me to finally be able to watch them.
