It was Se7en's dream to become an singer even though his parents opposed it. He remained determined to reach his dream and spent 4 long years of training in YG entertainment. At the age 19, all of his hard work eventually paid off with his first Korean album, “Just Listen." He has never lipsynced during performances and is a firm believer that artists have an obligation to sing live. Se7en’s ever growing popularity still continues today that attracts many international fans who take great notice of his singing, dancing, style and charming personality. You may ask yourself, why is he named Se7en? Before his debut, his company thought about the possible stage name (from letters to numbers, including 7) that would be suitable for Choi Dong Wook. While eating at a restaurant with YG, they noticed there were 7 pieces of radish kimchi on his plate. So, they confirmed Se7en’s name from that. The number 7 is also considered as a lucky number in Korea. Se7en wants to spread luck through his music with everyone. He also believes his fans give him luck, so that’s why his fanclub is named Lucky Se7en.
