  2. You've probably suspected it for years, but now we have official proof: Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' has been voted the most annoying Xmas song in a UK poll. A recent survey from Huawei asked Brits to vote on what they considered to be the most annoying Xmas singles, and Carey's ubiquitous seasonal hit unsurprisingly topped the list by a wide margin. 'All I Want For Christmas' turns 25 this year, and to mark the occasion Mariah Carey has been doing her best to get us all into the festive spirit well ahead of the big day. The singer fired the starting pistol on the first on November - the day after Halloween - tweeting "it's tiiiiiime!" and dropping a new version of her music video for the Christmas track, re-cut with previously unreleased footage. If that wasn't enough, Carey also announced a deluxe anniversary edition of her 1994 album 'Merry Christmas', as well as embarking on an extensive holiday tour and offering fans the chance to finally own 'All I Want' on CD, cassette and vinyl for the first time ever. And let's not forget that nauseating Walkers advert either. The Mariah Machine shows no signs of slowing down any time soon - the song has already been streamed 4.8 million times just over the last week and smashed holiday streaming records in 2018 after being played a whopping 11 million times on Christmas Eve alone. Yet there's signs that the public may be tiring of hearing the same old festive hits. Recently York Gin announced they wouldn't be playing any of the traditional cheesy Christmas hits in their stores this winter in order to stop their staff from 'going stir-crazy' - a decision that was met with widespread acclaim. Other songs ranked highly in the Huawei poll included many of the usual suspects, including 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' by Band Aid, 'Last Christmas' by Wham! and of course, the infamous 'Merry Christmas Everyone' by Slade. Now we don't have a problem with anyone busting out the old hits to get in the mood this Christmas, but can we at least wait until mid-December before being subjected to Mariah and Wizzard again this year please? 5. INSTEAD of playing with gadgets, or toys appropriate for their age, some 11- and 12-year-olds are engaging in sex for money and getting infected with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The Department of Health (DOH)-Central Visayas expressed alarm after monitoring children as young as 11 and 12 with STDs. “These children do not understand the risk of having multiple sexual partners. Most of them get paid for having sex,” DOH-Central Visayas HIV/Aids program coordinator Dr. Van Phillip Baton said. Baton said these children engage in sex to earn money but are unaware of the risks they are taking. He also said that based on the data of the Epidemiology Bureau, the rate of HIV infection among those 15 to 24 years old is rising, while the 25 to 34 age group still has the highest rate of infection. Based on the latest data for Central Visayas in May, 29 tested positive in the 15 to 24 age group. From January to May, 118 tested positive in the 15 to 24 age group, second only to the 200 who tested positive in the 25 to 34 age group. The DOH said that based on the national data, an average of 35 persons got infected per day this year. “The increase in the number of cases is not always bad. The increase in the number of cases means that we are getting those infected to undergo treatment,” Baton said. “The problem is what happens to those who are diagnosed. Are they being treated? And based on our national data, the answer is no,” said Baton. Of the 5,982 cases in Central Visayas since 1984, only 2,485 have undergone treatment, which is offered free. Central Visayas has the fourth highest number of HIV cases in the country, next to the National Capital Region, Region 4A (Calabarzon) and Region 3 (Central Luzon).
