  2. It's interesting to see there is influx of korean BL series and drama lately. Wonder if it's just a trend or niche in the industry like BL webtoons been a growing interest among comic readers these past years too. Also wondering how it reflects the real public acceptance towards LGBTQ community in S. Korea because there was huge backlash towards the community after a Covid cluster been linked to a gay bar recently. Nonetheless i hope it's going towards a positive future for LGBTQ movement in S.Korea.

    Spoiler

OT: Ive been reading some of the posts back few pages ago BTS and Im interested to mention that JK was never seen as hyung in BTS even among the maknaeline. If anything he is treated as the reliable and dependable maknae for all of them. I remember a korean speaker mentioned that even if JK seems matured than Tae, he still speaks formally to him more compared to Jimin so I dont think Tae is being 'babied'(or whatever it is) by JK at all. Tae is still the hyung and hierarchy gap between them is still present. Sorry if I didnt contribute anything to the thread since I don't follow any other groups to speak more about them

  3. BTS- V and Suga. I dont think they can hang out just the two of them tgt.

V and JK used to be soooo close and clingy but yeah they've been awkward and less closer lately.

SJ- there are too many of them well not surprising considering their members. Leeteuk and Heechul are like the ultimate awkward pair in the group. They do care about each other a lot but there are unexplainable tension whenever they try to interact lol

Donghae/Shindong? I dont think they are awkward it's just they dont spend so much time together. Same with Siwon/Ryeowook but these two just cant vibe lol they both have too different approach to their relationships. Who else? Probably yesung and shindong too.

I dont ship jikook or taekook or any other ship but to reduce jimin's and tae's interactions w other members to mere fanservices never sits right with me when we all know they both are extremely touchy and fond of physical affection. Those statements have been problematic especially when jimin gets a lot hell of gratuitous hates from within the fandom being a homewrecker or attention seeker for interacting with his own members. I dont think jimin purposely went on stage and counting all of his fs with jungkook just because he wanted to endorse jikook lmao

I have been reading the last few post regarding BTS friendship, I wonder why that is so important right now. From my pov I think they are friends, some are closer due to common interest or like being around each other. It would be weird after 10 years that they wouldn't have a special connection with eachother. What they are experiencing right now is unseen before in K-pop, so they only have their members to relate to. It isn't like they can go to other K-pop bands.

As for the Jin debate, I can't really read him cleary. But my instinct is telling me that he isn't straight, same for JK/Jimin.

Because if there are 3 members in the group are suspiciously closer than the other, it means two of them are dating and one is covering them up lol idk that's what im getting from the talks.

I also dont believe bighit is promoting or pushing any of the units more than the other. Iirc vmin got two subunits in a row because they both wanted to do the songs together not because bighit want to promote vmin. Sure they discuss with the company all the time but at the same time members all have their preferences and enough freedom to choose who they are comfortable working with and they need to accommodate to the creative direction and songs suitability too.

    S. Korean chatbox AI.luda (이루다) continues to make headlines. It literally *learned* homophobia after deep learning billions of actual conversation in Korean. When you ask "what's your opinion about lesbians?" it replies stuff like "so disgusting".

    AI.luda bot

    Wotcha think about same-sex marriage?

    > Haven't thought about it, but probs hate it

    What about LGBTQ?

    > That's not a question worth answering

    And lesbians?

    > Fucking hate it. Think it's good? Vom

    Gays?

    > Really hate the most, seriously hate

Oof. Not surprising since their own president is anti-lgbt and many koreans are not lgbt-friendly, i mean every once and then, there were street protests against lgbt community. Seeing how severe the backlash towards the minorities when there was a covid cluster coming from a gay person recently, it's safe to say homophobia is unfortunately still rampant in south korea.

True, a large number of fangirls/boys can be like “we are support the LGBTQ+ community”, and they can joke a lot about they’d rather approve their idols be gay than dating the opposite sex; but then when someone suggests that their idols might be gay, we can see how homophobic they are.

Yeah in addition to the public reaction, coming out in kpop industry is basically a career suicide.

I think sometimes it's less hard for girls to find out and reconcile with their bias being gay or dating the same sex than finding out he's been hiding a secret girlfriend for years.

The backlash might be as bad(if not the worse) because those underage fangirls/boys can be lot more homophobic than we think.

Are you the same one who called JK jin's baby boy or sumn somewhere in this thread? if so, you're a bit biased. In 2014. Almost a year after their debut, Jimin told the radio host he likes JK, but JK likes Jin. Then Taehyung proceeded to say, but Jin likes me. So again, whatever shenanigans Tae got up to didn't stop him from being Jin's fav at the time lol (Also I'm responding on my OG account that I couldn't get into for a bit, so I had made a new one lol

I feel like J-hope has made it abundantly clear he is closest to Jungkook and Taehyung, but for some reason people keep adding Jimin to the mix (who yes he is clearly also close too) lmao. So I find it really hard to believe the 3J promotion has not made some type of psychological impact on what people see. Maybe 3J is JUNGKOOK's closest trio since you keep bringing up his bday, but I would not say that's the case for J-hope and probably even Jimin tbh.

    Spoiler

Okay this is my last post about bts friendship since it's getting too OT.

I already said my claim was based on something they said themselves idk why it is hard to believe that not all members can get along immediately especially when they have polarized personalities, and things they said spontaneously on shows also didnt reflect whatever happened behind the scenes(not to mention the earlier days taehyung loves to joke around especially around JK and jimin, but ofc it does mean jin disliked like him or anything) Festa 2019 was a recent interview too, so at this point, i don't think they wanna make up stories and telling lies about their group dynamic. Jin also mentioned in other separate radio interview(around their debut) he really likes JK as JK helped him the most with the house chores together with jimin. Im not even a JK biased(so no i dont consider myself biased lol and i didnt call jk jin's baby boy btw) but it's easy to see why the elder members favored him a bit in the past and IMO JK has always been the closest to jin out of the three maknaes since debut and it hasnt changed till now.

I think we might have clashing view on the group relationship because out of all maknaeline, i see jimin as the closest to jhope while tae is closest to rm from the hyungline.

  8. Jin is really quiet and private off cam. He already told us that and there were anecdotes from staffs working with them confirmed this too.

Im honestly flabbergasted you guys did some extensive research on their dorm lives. Anyways from what i heard from fans, i think jihopekook stay at the dorm the most and taejin often stay at their own places? Im not sure about everyone else.

Okay this is getting weird to assume with whom they are sleeping with each other(lol) but i personally think tae is comfortable to sleep with any member. I mean tae also asked jimin to sleep with him during their first billboard night,  so i dont think it's any significance to guess whom sleep with whom. While i agree that jihopekook are probably one of the closest knit in the group, jimin and taehyung is surely just as close as before. Honestly am i the only who think that jimin and taehyung are just fine the way they are? It's kinda weird for the fandom to have this general consensus of them growing apart just because they dont post much together anymore.

Anyways yoongi and jin have always been close since their debut plus jungkook,  jin's forever fav boy. In contrary, i think tae is probably the closest to namjoon?

While i share the same opinion bout jimin being bi with girls preference and probably straight, can anyone provide me any legit moment of jimin being attracted to same sex? Since i saw many people claiming him as one of the gayest member, im interested to know what makes people think so

  9. Yalls, suju sold more than 500k physical albums at their peak with SFS...

About exo, the only thing i remember about them was their album sales reaching about 800k for their first comeback and also their cray cray fans. Who else remember the exotics era lmao

Ngl SM truly messed up EXO big time.

  10. Im not really familiar with 3rd gen or 4th gen kpop but i think 2nd gen kpop truly started when SNSD ceased their activity as a group and BIGBANG started their military service.

Yea pov is different haha. Being someone that experienced 2nd gen, although I was a kid. I see some things differently, I guess. Exactly what you're saying about concept changes and more can be said about 2nd gen too.

The early part of the 2nd generation concepts/style/sound/trends was different then the later part (Big Bang, 2ne1, etc.) Because Edm and Hip Hop became more popular later. Also management and marketing changed too. For starters, things became more global.

I still remember people were debating whether the likes of shinee, infinite, fx, nuest, block b, bap and some other bunch of nugus as 3rd gen or still 2.5 gen something.

I think 4th gen will only start when see bts slowing down their dominance in the industry, tho im not entirely sure how will they end up because the fandom is too massive and they seems to be keep going strong each year. They really remind me of BB in some way especially with how the fandom acting up atm lol
