This year has had too many great games and I'm still so far behind OTL. 

Night In The Woods is great. The dialogue is incredibly well written and the coming of age story is captured wonderfully. It's like Animal Crossing meets Skins.

 

I have Persona 5 ready to go once I've finished with Nier: Automata. I'm pretty much done but enjoyed it so much I wanna go back and do sidequests, even if most are generic fetch stuff. Also want to get Horizon Zero Dawn still. And Hollow Knight. And Detention. And Sexy Brutale. And Bayonetta on PC....

 

Got lucky in that my friend has agreed to stream his Prey playthrough for me so I can just watch him instead of having to play. Pretty great for me since I suck at things involving stealth. 

From what you've played of it so far, would you say it's as good as people hype it up to be Marv? All I can see on twitter is just people talking about 2b and how good she looks so I can't really tell lmao. I'm planning on checking out the first Nier game sometime this year but I wanna know if this one holds up well too.

It's pretty good. The music and story are top notch and the gameplay isn't too far behind it, provided you're ok with bullet hells and occasional metroidvania moments. The only real negative I can think of is some of the sidequests being rather generic fetch quests (there's some real great ones - but also some stinkers).

 

I think you can probably get a way with skipping the first Nier, and the Drakengard games for that matters.

 does a pretty great summary of the game, meaning you don't have to spend 40 hours or so slogging through yourself (unless you want to). 

Really liked FFXV. Story misses a lot of beats but I enjoyed the game and the characters and the music.

 

Persona 5 looks incredibly stylish. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Hoping for some interesting side character stories.

 

Need to finish Nier: Automata first. 

 

 

Question to gamers:

How do you stop yourself from playing if you have other important things to do?

 

(I'll have to tutor 2 gamers who are completely lost in their ego-shooters and are failing school. I was asked to help them and wanted to know what techniques you use to stop playing)

The way is either getting them to do the work beforehand or finding a way for the 'one more game' mentality to actually be 'one more game', insteada five or so more. In general I find short bursts of revision or essay writing to be best, so I've worked on making my short breaks exactly that - short. My one game is one game, then it's back to studying. 

 

Getting the motivation or discipline instilled to do that is hard though ><. 

I can't afford life anymore. 

All within like two weeks of one another:

• Pokemon BDSM
• 7th Dragon III Code VFD
• The Last Guardian

 

And I still kind of want Owlboy, Hitman and Inside.

Nah the anime is after and before the events of 2. Future arc is after 2 and despair arc is before 2. You should defo play the games before watching though, it won't have the same affect but still worth the journey through 2 if you have seen it..

Well Akane really has a lot of mystery which was one and if not the biggest thing I loved her for. The clash had me at times, seeing them fight and what not. Though you could see why she acted like that. After what happened in 9 person 9 hours 9 doors and VLR

As for Sigma and Diana. That had me big time seeing the way they were like and than how they ended up. Just tore me to pieces.

Welp, just caved and got the I TB model for £179. I had to get the Fifa bundle though since the lego one was sold out. :/ I guess I'll have to sell that off.

The new Nier is looking damn good but i do wonder how much of an rpg it will be. I didn't play Nier but i heard a lot of praise for it's story. All the footage and talk about Nier Automata has been about the action so far. Unless it was discussed in japanese and i didn't know lol. 

 

 

Holy shit that Bayonetta style dodge is satisfying to watch! I'm gonna guess the RPG elements will end up more a case of menus beforehand? Sort of like A-Creed level of skilltree building. It's Yokotaro though - this game could be released and we could find out it's actually the most recent edition in the Cooking Mama franchise.

It's smaller so it fits on my shelf. It makes less noise. It's less power consumption reducing my electricity bill.

I kinda like the Slim =). Will either pick one up or an old model if they get really cheap. Don't own a PS4 yet so I'm pretty happy.

Overwatch is a lot of fun, I 100% recommend, I still take at least an hour after I come home from work to play it.

 

And I'm traditionally garb at FPS games, I mean, I'm garbage at Overwatch too, but I'm having fun being garbage at least lol.

Pretty much this. My accuracy is so low it's kinda funny but I still enjoy playing. There's still little things I'm discovering on maps and voice-lines I hadn't noticed before. 

Let's be real here. Mai's DOA model looks so good in comparison to her current KOF model. And this is a 4 year old game already. Not to mention her moves seemed to have translated well into the game, at least animation wise. I'm definitely gonna dl this when it comes out.

 

Unfortunately the KOF costume pack is a no for me. Because based of the info I found out, yet again TN feels the need to pander to its selective Japanese audience by giving 3 costumes to 6 characters only for this pack.   Two of which I don't care for, two that I barely play anymore, and the last two I fucking despise.

 

And even worse a number of them are just recolors. Wow such a lost opportunity by TN, they could give a number of KOF outfits to more DOA characters. So continues my love/hate relationship with TN.

KoF has so many cool and iconic character designs. Benimaru, K' and Terry seem like obvious picks? 

As much as DoA looks better than KoF, I'm still kinda hoping I enjoy XIV and that they keep the franchise going. 

 

And hey, at least they can't ever fall as low as they did with Ninja Gaiden 3

Me too.The Sumeragi rediction seems like to be a lot fun with all those characters.Oh,they gonna release a Yukimura Sanada spin off this month,i wonder how it gonna be.

I find it pretty funny that after being announced, Tecmo Koei announced its own Yukimura spin-off. 

He was one of the characters I cared for less in both franchises, so a spin-off focusing on him doesn't appeal to me too much. Although the new character additions relating to him in Basara look cool! Kinda confused how the returning cast will be added in. 

I'm playing Sengoku Basara in those days and awww,too bad it never went well in the west,character wise is quite better then the Sengoku Musou series

Had the pleasure of playing this last year. Honestly ended up as one of my fave PS3 games. Combat is much more satisfying than in Musou and the characters/story alot more fun. Kinda tempted to import SB4 at some point. 

Knew he was gonna be my fave the moment I saw him. 

Bought Furi today. I'm madly in love. The soundtrack and the gameplay are wonderful. I really hope it does well. Also hoping to play INSIDE soon.

Was it as good as everyone's been hoping? No spoils please but am still deciding whether to drop money on it.

 

 

Man, I cannot believe I almost miss this. Considering that Keiji Inafune is involved in this, not to mention Mark Pacini of the Metroid Prime series, I'm surprised it didn't get more press.

 

I remember there was only a cg trailer last year. And ngl, this new trailer is definitely making me more interested.

Microsoft had a pretty good conference imo. This game was definitely one of the highlights and I'm so happy at how it's shaping up. Glad to see 'Windows 10' pop up on it as well, alongside Cuphead and Scalebound. There was good odds on me having to buy an Xbone at some point if not and my bank would not stretch to that kinda $$$ right now ><. 

 

 

 

YUUUUSSS! I knew someone would beat me to posting this. Omg, everything about that boss battle is perfect. It's madness and such a wonderful bullet hell hack n slash combo. When the screen rotated and the bullets started firing out I was so hyped. The soundtrack is amazing and the world design looks wonderful. This game has me so ridiculously hyped I just want to ahwdkuqgiu. 

 

2017 has so many great games coming. 

lol yea. I was watching Easy Allies' coverage of E3 and they threw the teaser trailer up on the stream when it first came out not knowing how graphic it was haha. It was awkward and funny. 

 

I should get back to reading the manga. I only read the first 2 volumes before i stopped. It is supposedly what heavily inspired Dark Souls and that's what interested me in the first place. 

 

The manga is good! Kinda reminds me of JoJo though in that because all the shocks/ideas the creators came up with have been used so much elsewhere part of the fun is lost. Still, such pretty art *_*. 

 

Well MS announced their new slim Xbox One. Ngl it does look nice, but as I expected nothing that would make me get it right away. Its just slimmer, has 4K support and offers a 2TB option as well. And for $299, its not a bad deal for people who haven't picked it up.

 

Anyway a few trailers that caught my eye today.

 

 

So far for the most part the response has been positive for the new RE. Still there are concerns, there is a lot promotion of this game with the Playstation VR, and I'm not too keen on the whole VR deal. And while they say you can still play without VR, I've seen a lot companies say similar things, and ends up being half-ass and/or unnecessary gimmick.

 

Another concern is the game's tone. Yes its more horror, but some feel like its more Silent Hill than Resident Evil. Silent Hill was psychological in terms of scare, while Resident Evil played more into classic horror tropes. Still I want to give this game a chance and see what they'll do. And hoping at least a classic RE character will come in.

 

 

 

 

 

I really liked the Dead Rising series. Its a fun series, particularly 2nd game with its creative weapons. And while I did enjoy the 3rd game with its more open world gameplay and ability the make combo weapon vehicles, I did feel it took itself a bit too seriously.

 

Thankfully this returns to its more lighthearted roots. Well as lighthearted as a apocalyptic zombie game can be lol.

As much as I love RE4 (finally playing it!) and RE2 (made my childhood), RE6 was great, it just needed more confidence. The gunplay was amazing and omg so many satisfying animations. Mercenaries mode really made this game so wonderful and satisfying. It was camp and cheesy and looked nothing like its predecessors but omg was it amazing. I definitely don't think it should ever return as the mainstay RE way, but I'd love for them to have more action-focused spinoffs. Just cut-off the constant jarring QTEs pls. 

 

Dead Rising 2 was great and by the looks of that teaser Capcom have realised people want more of that style. The ridiculous OTT style is so much fun.

Turns out it is Berserk Musou. There's a teaser trailer that doesn't show much but it has boobs in it so i won't post it lol. Already confirmed for a western release apparently.

When Injustice was announced I was excited, then I started hearing about Loot Boxes and armoured gear and I started to get a bit disheartened, idk to me it sounds like stat boosters or something and if thats the case then I wouldn't be a fan, I don't like messing with that stuff in fighting games OTL

 

Still, I was a fan of the last game, just praying for Cheetah/Black Canary/Starfire/Poison Ivy~

 

I felt like like playing a PS2/Gamecube games today, so I got out my PS2 after playing some games I wanted to play a JRPG and found that I had a game called Jade Cocoon 2 which I never played, popped it in, it seemed PERFECT for what I needed, but then it froze 5 minutes in OTL 

 

I'm always so apprehensive when it comes to playing my PS2 JRPGs, I didn't take good care of my PS2 games sadly and a lot of them tend to freeze mid-playthough, and it extra sucks with JRPGs cause they're so long, it happened with Stella Deus, Devil Summoner, and now this, at least with this it happened quick, saved me the trouble.

 

Wish I got my Wii instead, could've continued my playthrough of Baten Kaitos ={

I'm the same when it comes to PS2 games ><. I remember my parents always saying 'take care of those discs!' and I really wish I'd listened. With that said 5 minutes in is probably the best time for it to freeze. I remember after several years of picking it up and dropping it, I finally got to the end of FFX-2, only for the disc to freeze each time before the ending MV played  .
