I'm from Portugal and gay marriage (and more recently gay adoption) is legal. I would say that most people here are okay with it, even thought it's always a café theme when someone comes out as gay.

About the media, we don't have a lot of gay characters honestly. It's really rare to see one and they're always side characters.
