  1. you and the person in the video have the same opinion. she just gave a background on how Grammy treats Boybands. she clarified that the two boybands who won a Grammy aren't boybands in the strictest sense of the words but she also believes that if someone can break the barrier it will be BTS. I am more optimistic, they will get the nomination. winning it, i wouldn't go that far but the nomination yes. i do think not being able to speak english is a barrier. Had they been decent english speaker, they will even be bigger even if they sing in korean. it's just that these freakin' interviews are such a huge part of the growth. ON another note...here is one from Time Magazine... still a part of Big Hit's press run for BTS Grammy campaign CLICK HERE for the full story
  2. Live starring Lee Kwang Soo in Netflix. I'll give it a 4.5 over 5. Good story. Good acting.
  3. test... test... it's back? one from Rolling Stones. Click here for full story JHOPE's Interview with Becky G--- He spoke purely in english
  4. Agree... agree... and their record will be broken. it's just the cycle of... well... records. yeah! Big Hit doesn't really say anything about it. They retweet and talk about other things but not this one. BTS is really shameless in setting goals and declaring it to the world. No matter how seemingly unobtainable they are. they say it loud and proud. If YouTube is on their priority list, I am sure they would have said it. the mere fact that neither the management nor the artists mentions anything about YouTube records goes to show that they don't prioritize this. So let's just all chill. This is all in good fun.
  5. The funny thing is... BTS never mentions their YouTube record. They express their excitement and gratefulness ton their Grammy appearance, Billboard, SNL, US talk shows, sold out concerts. They explicitly ask ARMY to join them in their journey whenever they want to achieve something new. but they don't mention YouTube records. This is purely an ARMY thing. So, just chill. BTS/ARMY has the record now. YOUR GROUP/YOUR FANDOM will make a come back, they will grab the record back. It's just a matter of time.
  6. ORIGINAL TWEET FROM YOUTUBE MUSIC'S OFFICIAL ACCOUNT @YOUTUBEMUSIC This thread is about KPOP music YouTube records. According to YouTube Music's official account which was retweeted by YouTube, the primary platform this used for the topic to which this thread is dedicated to, BTS' Boy With Luv holds the record for most views for 24 hours. It will be broken someday. sooner than later. But for now, that's the OFFICIAL statement STRAIGHT FROM THE COMPANY'S OFFICIAL ACCOUNT, not according to some unnamed representative. Enough said.
  7. Hi everyone... just visiting from the other side of town to recommend a really good read for y'all. It's a nice piece about the legacy of 2NE1 and how they changed and influenced how Koreans look at females. It's a good one. Below is an excerpt and you can click here to check the entire article. It was written by the the writer of Dara's movie in the Philippines. that's it. I'm a Minzy stan by the way.
  8. Yep. gigantic. Let's put it this way. Beyonce and Swift don't do a lot of TV appearances ESPECIALLY morning shows, this is one of the few shows they go to. It's that big.
  9. all i care about is that i will see them tomorrow and in their sold out Stadium concert in Citified and 'Idol' is #11 in Billboard Hot100
  10. This is a known fact - BTS was created because and around RM. No one can debate that. Bang PD went on record to say that. For those immature fans, they find it hard to accept that RM will always be the first, so to speak, pillar of BTS. There are also a lot of times when RM's influence on BTS and the management is very obvious. For example, it was revealed that Jhope quit BTS. RM, in front of BTS, said he went to the management and convinced them they need Jhope. There might be other reasons why management decided to take Jhope back but the mere fact that he initiated a discussion, it means management listens to him. He was also given the first solo activity, has the most copyrighted songs (of BTS songs), and almost singlehandedly deals with US media when it comes to interviews. That's a lot right there. Many don't understand that OF COURSE RM's word will have weight on the management, he is the freakin' leader. it is a given. Besides, we don't know how much other members talk to management. they don't have the obligation to tell us how communication happens and what goes on in their meetings. The bottomline, fans are jealous. on the other hand, those who are anti-bts, Namjoon gets criticized more because he gives lengthy contents that talks about music, their activities, and the inspiration behind their work. so, there is more to scrutinize. Suga doesn't do solo vlives about music anymore. Neither does Jhope and the maknae line usually just talk about whatever. BUT haters don't matter. we stan kings. kings don't pay attention to the opinions of a cockroach.
  11. np. for those of you who haven't read it, give it a try. it really captures the essence of BTS. Enough of their popularity, we've established that already. Let's talk about their creative genius. READ HERE
  12. This is the first article I've ever read about BTS that reaaaaalllllly talks about BTS' significance and not just about the ARMY and about how popular they are. It's worth a read, i swear: HERE IS THE FULL ARTICLE Well-researched. intelligent. and it trully communicates what BTS is about. If you have American friends, please show them the article.
  13. LMAO... yes, let's be very very careful. Big Hit usually announces things like this anyway so let's just wait for their word. some people insult the profession of being a journalist. from what I understand, it's a pre-season and will be hosted by Mario Lopez. let's just wait for the details.
  14. an erratum is not an apology. it's a correction. the people reporting were different too. Forbes reported Idol's YouTube record a solid 2 hours before Billboard published theirs. if all we have are digital footprints, it's easy to pull information from an already published article from another website, yeah? it also doesn't change the fact that the reporter or billboard didn't link to any official YouTube release in the case of Fake Love which we all know now, YouTube do. the "journalist" who reported it has been asked to name their source, the were never able to. not even an evidence that the exchange of information took place. at the end of the day, you will believe what you want to believe. but it doesn't change the fact, no one can prove youtube actually shaved the views of first love. no one. not even Billboard. they all point to an anonymous, unidentified, non verifiable source. if it is all journalism has come down to, we don't need journalism standards or ethics, let's just all report base on anonymous sources. one of those reports will be correct. later down the road, we can all use that correct report as our basis of our credibility. if YouTube comes forward and says they did shave the views, well and good. it will only prove that youtube will always confirm views. if they don't come forward or no one comes up with an evidence, that report is merely a speculation. as for 'Idol', the record is rock solid. confirmed and sealed. it won't stay forever. someone is bound to break it and it will be broken sooner than everyone thinks. and if anyone every learns anything from this experience, fans will be more careful who to believe. question the source. even if it is CNN reporting, they are not infallible. ask for proof. evidence. cross check. verify. also, HOPEFULLY, bloggers will be more careful in making claims they can't back up. BUT... i also admire that guy that started all these talks, he fooled so many and for so long. to that extent, he is actually a genius. no replies re this issue will come after this from me. i think enough evidence has been presented and all points have been stated. i am looking forward to the next group that will break the record. my wish is for the top 10 to all come from Asia.
  15. it is worth having confirmed views because when you talk of 'establishing dominance', you need to follow some guidelines and standards. if we just go by what we want, it will be commercial anarchy. then, nothing become credible. but If I am the journalist reporting this, I will show both, what YouTube confirms and what the actual view count was on the 24th hour and will always mention both side by side. YouTube's algorithm continuously evolve. comparison will never be apples to apples. Billboard reported two different view counts with Fake Love. The span is two weeks. they make no effort to do an "erratum" as decent publications do. it's journalism ethics to do such when you make an error. Billboard didn't say anything. guess why. YouTube does not take two weeks to confirm view counts. Bigger errors from larger actual news companies have been made in the past. Be smart. When something is reported, don't just take their word for it. Ask for evidence. Again, I don't think other fandoms should worry. If at all, their groups will have a come back soon and BTS won't have any in the next god knows what since they have a pretty long world tour and other freakin' projects in the US. they keep on adding dates and adding countries. Their group's next comeback is a chance to obliterate BTS' record and I AM SURE someone will very soon. when that happens, PM me to help you confirm views, gather evidence... i'll help, doesn't matter who that group is.
  16. this is the first time they actually confirmed and announced a Kpop record... other people claimed that YouTube confirmed it but no evidence has been presented and no links to any of YouTube's properties can be found. so if we are all trying to be really credible about this, IDOL's view should be the only one in the CONFIRMED table. It has already been established that the writer who wrote about Fake Love's view count is unable to name the alleged "YouTube Representative". Also, Billboard also makes errors as they stated in their article that "a YouTube Representative" announced the new record of Idol. it wasn't a YouTube representative, it's YouTube's official Twitter account. let's just be clear so that we don't get into arguments about how we interpret things. and yes, a journalist should name their source ESPECIALLY if it the name of a big company is being used. the only time "not naming a source" is acceptable is if it's criminal or investigation that involves international and national security. other than that, when an "information is passed on as a fact", the journalist should not only name the source but present clear evidence of it. that being said, the record has been established and we all now know that if YouTube wants to make something official, they will announce it officially using any or all of their media properties such as official twitter account or official blog. so WHEN that record gets broken, YouTube will announce it. we cannot rely on the view count we see on the screen when the 24th hour hits. we especially cannot rely on some blogger who doesn't even have an official publication email address who claims to have spoken to "a representative" about official view counts. other groups will always have a chance to break the record and I am sure, it will be broken in the future, it's just a matter of time. in the meantime, can ARMY just have a minute? can we just have a minute to roar and jump and celebrate and brag? because, if we are being honest, ARMY made this happen. so just give us a minute okay? when time comes other fandoms break this record, you'll have your minute too. you'll have a full hour, or a full week, or a full year... or for as long as you hold the record. as for the ARMY, just give us this.
  17. i think we just need to be outspoken when someone claims to get information "from a reliable source" or "official representative". i am surprised that even billboard didn't fact check this. everyone just went with this. as far as i am concerned, BTS is number #1 and #3 on the top 10 chart of most viewed MV videos. I will try to contact the writer who wrote the article about 24 hour views that questioned the reliability of metro.co.uk. her profile says her twitter is @fjustf. i researched her name and she is a screenplay writer, comics book writer, journalist. at least her identity is verifiable. i'll see if she can write another one that corrects it. at least she bothers to put up screenshots and not just write words. EDIT: The writer seems to have written a movie for Dara of 2NE1 here
  18. The writer raised a very good point. If it is an official statement from YouTube, (1) the Youtube Representative will be named. (2) it should be linked back to other official YouTube properties such as their blog, Twitter page (where they interact the most with fans), or an official statement. None of those. No one can name the source. no screencap. Nothing. the publication itself is not a newspaper, it's a digital website and does not appear in any ranking or listing of reliable news sources.
