Crayon Pop Official Youtube Channel - Now over 100 Million Views! Achievement Unlocked!

Remember that TV promo spot I posted about a week ago that used Bang Bang Bang? Turns out it made it to a couple of the Korean sites (instiz/dcinside) as well as a bunch of BB fan pages and it's now got almost 90,000 views! I guess Korean VIPs occasionally pay attention to what's posted on the i-forums.

I just realised,I don't think I've actually posted in here before... which is odd because: it appears I'm one of you!

So I'm randomly watching tv last night and the adverts are on when I notice a familiar song playing... Turns out the music being used for a promo clip for The Big Bang Theory on the national broadcaster in Ireland is... Bang Bang Bang! (and kind of cool!)

I promise you it's out there... somewhere (if you look hard enough) Having heard it, I think I almost prefer the sound of the first rap part in Japanese, and strangely, the Chinese version has more English lines in it than expected. Unfortunately the music at the very end of the MV is only the album outro, the other full track is more of a ballad. Now time to shake some walls with the instrumental!

It never really got past the idea stage, it was just something CEO Hwang came up with and posted on his twitter prior to Bar x3. Once the song took off, the '6th member for Japan' plan was abandoned completely and Arisa left Chrome a short time later (and by short time I mean August 2013). She's been working as a model mainly since then but she did sign with Tony An's company TN Entertainment pretty soon after leaving Chrome so she may still be looking to break into the industry. All her SNS accounts disappeared a while back so I can't really say what she's up to right now. For those who are interested, she appeared as the lead actress in this MV back in 2013:

I was away for a couple of days so I didn't get to post this, but Lonely Christmas has become Crayon Pop's 3rd MV with over 8 million views (4th if you count Bar Bar Bar Global Version on their VEVO channel). Crayon Pop - Lonely Christmas ~ Now Over 8 Million Views!

It doesn't necessarily go to form that it's a bad thing, some of the most active people I follow on SNS are the former Badkiz and Bob Girls members! Some companies may basically have a group go to ground once they've finished promoting, particularly if their SNS accounts are company accounts. It's not great from a noise and PR perspective but it leaves the company in control over what gets out and what doesn't. A lot of the perceived momentum from Purfles debut was down to i-fans support on forums like this. There was a 'favourite debut from last year' thread earlier this week and 1,2,3 got posted or quoted about 6 times in the space of a page and a half. When you look at the number of followers the official group accounts have (1100+ on twitter, 2500+ on facebook and 7000+ on youtube) they still have a distance to go before they're really 'known' in Korea. Hopefully Crescendo has some sort of a working relationship with one of the TV networks to create some opportunities to get the girls out there when they do come back. That plus a (quality) well timed comeback could help them move up a notch in the public consciousness.

I had a feeling this was what we were signing up for when I got in to Purfles... If you look at Heyne's promotion cycle its been: Dalla -> Love007 (6 months) Love007 -> Red Lie (8 months) Red Lie -> My Heart (7 months) Based on that, we really should be due a comeback this or next month. The problem is a lot of big groups are back or coming back this summer so it makes it more difficult for the newer groups to get any public attention (and may even make it difficult to get a slot on the music shows). I hope we don't have to wait until the end of summer, but it is a possibility.
