  1. i do feel you. i feel like all of this has rlly sucked the fun out of kpop. everything feels too perfect now.
  2. yeah, simu liu may be average to some, but he's not ugly as the chinese say (i feel sorry for him tbh). and besides, why does his attractiveness have to matter in the first place with the character he's playing? he's playing a superhero, not some model. he doesn't have to or be obligated look "attractive" just bc his fellow mcu actors happen to be handsome/conventionally attractive. it's that kind of nitpickiness with appearance that has led to many talented ppl not being able to get opportunities due to looking average/"ugly" in the eyes of beauty standards. this is also how we get attractive actors that have bad or mediocre acting skills - bc looks have become the priority rather than the actual talent/potential. as much as i'd like to see more southeast asian representation in mainstream media, i'm still happy we got an even bigger asian representation in such a big franchise at least, even if it's an east asian character. the least chinese ppl could do is be supportive at least he is casted in a role that is not a side character or stereotypical butt of the joke.
  3. as someone who's from southeast asia, that rlly hurt me so much. i'm 3/4 filipino and 1/4 chinese, so i'm more southeast asian than east asian. i remember in a show that they actually used the word "filipino" as a substitute for the "southeast asian" insult they should've gotten the memo that the beauty of southeast asians are not to be underestimated considering philippines, out of all asian countries, has had the most miss universe wins at 4, followed by india with 3 wins. i remember when that bella poarch tattoo controversy blew up (basically bella had a tattoo of the imperial japan flag and that offended some of her korean fans), and some koreans ended up dissing us filipinos for our looks. my fb timeline was basically on fire during that period, full of angry posts from some of my filo friends. one of them deadass posted "if you're going to diss our looks, at least make sure your country has a miss universe win!" that aside, i just wish they'd stop using us southeast asians as something synonymous to ugly. southeast asians are literally one of the biggest consumers of korean media, esp the philippines, and we have a lot of admiration for their culture, but they can't even give us the same treatment or courtesy. it also rlly hurt to find out how much they looked down on us filipinos, considering philippines helped out korea during the korean war, iirc. there's even a monument there dedicated to the fallen filipinos who died helping their country. they don't have to 100% like us, but they could just respect us and other southeast asians at least.
  4. i don't rlly keep up with izone that much since i was never a stan however i think she's been talked abt in prev pages so you can try using the search function of the site. try typing in "official plastic surgery thread yena" (although i think it's best viewed on desktop since the search function is a mess on mobile for some reason)...
  5. this video is very interesting: idk if anyone has watched this, but this was a pretty interesting video on which twice member americans would consider the most beautiful. gives u a bit of insight as to what features they prefer. even more interesting as jihyo, despite being really beautiful, isn't as talked abt in korea for visuals as much as nayeon, sana, and tzuyu are, but she wins here by a landslide when you ask americans who is the prettiest.
  6. in that case, i'm glad he's famous and getting roles. kinda sad to think that ur own countrymen would willingly call you ugly/weird looking and would bar you from getting roles bc of that despite having talent and potential. also not them screaming abt "discrimination" that isn't even actual discrimination when they are out there discriminating on their own countrymen's looks instead of being proud for bringing their country an ounce of recognition kinda makes me feel happy that at least ppl in my country would still be proud of a fellow countryman getting famous worldwide whether they look conventionally attractive or not. heck, they would even cheer on ppl who only have a tiny drop of our ethnicity.
  7. i think the reason why that opinion got clowned/disliked is bc the backlash against her was pretty strong (or at least it was in the eyes of fans) so they didn't rlly think her visuals saved her that time. the general reaction during that time ranged from wanting her gone from the group to death threats/hate. i feel like it was only her own fandom backing her up while the general public condemned her.
  8. she looks rlly gorgeous! in the first pic tho, i thought she looked like ariana grande... the later pics, she sorta looks like twice's jihyo... and she also happens to be a main vocalist too jihyo we found ur long lost twin!
  9. also reminds me of the time when chinese were mad that marvel casted the likes of simu liu (whom they considered "ugly") to star in shang chi instead of one their "pretty boy/handsome" actors and it escalated into accusations of racism as well. they thought marvel was trying to portray asians/chinese as "ugly" and therefore thought they were being racist in doing so... which i'm pretty sure is not marvel's intent. if only they'd look at shang chi in the comics, it's very clear that he's not meant to look like a pretty/angelfaced dude. just makes me wonder who they wanted to play shang chi instead...
  10. she's xu jiaqi, a cpop idol and actress yeah she's rlly gorgeous!
  11. from what i can gather, korean beauty standards are too focused on perfect, flawless, and dainty beauty, which would, unsurprisingly, not be appealing to other countries whose beauty standards lean toward stronger, more unique features. i think the reason why the commonly shilled pretty girls of kpop are so "boring" to look at lies solely in the fact that they fit the kbs: the beauty standard itself is so strict and too focused on perfection that they have to resort to correcting their "flaws" in order to be more appealing. but in the removal of their flaws, they also remove the character and individuality of their face, so now they end up looking like ur generic cookie cutter idol. it certainly doesn't help with the whole "all asians look the same" stereotype going on that anti-kpop folks, esp the racist ones, love to use against asians (as an asian that stereotype rlly annoys me tbh)... this makes me think of that one show where there are multiple foreigners from different countries who sorta act as representatives. there was this one foreign guy who was asked to pick between suzy and this one korean model (who doesn't fit the typical kbs but def has the strong, model look). mind you, the hosts were so surprised that the guy picked the korean model instead of suzy. on a side note, i don't rlly understand what korea has against cheekbones tho... like cheekbones are so beautiful (posting my bias as an example bc her cheekbones make me weak af):
  12. speaking of wendy, when i first saw her predebut pics i was shook bc of how much she resembled my cousin
  13. at this point, idol and all-natural is an oxymoron... but to answer your question: i doubt so. it looks like she may have gotten a very subtle alarplasty to narrow her nostrils a bit.
  14. so remember how we were all talking abt yuna's possible weight loss? amfg uploaded a vid on it, and i'm curious abt ur thoughts on it. imma put it under a spoiler since one of the pics in the thumbnail could be potentially triggering for some of you:
  15. she resembles tzuyu a bit in the first gif that aside, i caught a slight glimpse of her nose in a certain angle and i have a feeling something has def been jammed up her nose bridge... an implant. when she turns her head to the right side a bit, her nose tip looks elevated in a way that i usually associate with noses with implants. i also saw the said columella scar, but i need a still photo to see it better. if the scar is indeed there, that must be how they inserted the implant.
  16. i did think yoona was quite pretty, but sooyoung and jessica were much more eyecatching to me (way back in my sone years, ah nostalgia...)
  17. yeah i actually posted some screenshots from kpoprocedure regarding sakura's possible work. you can try to check the previous pages.
  18. i love how we mostly associate jaw shaves with sm, pointy ski slope noses with either hybe or sm (again)... idk abt jyp or yg and the others.
  19. is this sakura? she looks a lot more different now compared to her iz*one days. now her face feels quite lumpy, and her suspected buccal fat removal looks more apparent than ever (fillers... ). the implant is all too obvious as well (esp at the bridge area). they should've left her face alone...
  20. btw, would you mind further explaining abt the chin filler looking wrinkly thing to me? like maybe some examples if u don't mind? thanks in advance
  21. thanks guys, imma take note of this edit: pretty helpful tips tbh. there's this celeb who i'm suspicious has gotten cheek fillers. i thought it was just bloating but it felt too frequent for it to be "bloating." def not weight gain either since she's still like stick skinny. whenever she smiles, her cheeks look shiny and on the verge of bursting (dem chipmunk cheeks, reminds me a bit of sana). i got suspicious bc her face is usually slim (a bit full but still slim), but recently has been looking rounder despite no weight gain. although a recent video of her has been uploaded and it looks like her fillers have been settling down for the most part. netizens regard her as a natural beauty. can't say i blame them since, looking closely at her features from her younger days, nothing has rlly changed, and injectables like fillers and botox are hard as hell to spot, so for all they know, the ppl they claim as natural beauties could've gotten fillers/botox instead for less obvious results.
