all i'm saying is that, with all those rumors, there's a possibility that her jaw could've been even bigger/wider than we thought, bigger than the one you might think is her "natural" jaw, which is why i was skeptical of the photo you presented in the first place.

in kpop, predebut photos can't even be used as proof anymore that an idol is natural and whatnot. and apparently, it's also a thing for idols to hide some of their predebut photos out of fear of being shamed and only release the more "acceptable" ones. they may even clear traces of their old photos as much as possible. wouldn't be surprised if this is the case for karina since she's a former ulzzang, and i don't think i've encountered ulzzangs confident enough to post their pre-glamour photos.

so yes, for all we know, karina could have had sam smith type of jaw or whatnot.

and if it is indeed as small as you said... then that just makes her jaw shave even more unnecessary. sm basically put her in unnecessary risk just to shave an already small head when there are ppl who have died due to jaw shave complications.

I think a relatively good source to see how his face actually looks are Boys Planet showcases with press photos. Sure, even press edit their photos nowadays, but way less and especially way less for mere trainees.

speaking of lines, i think irene used to get botox in that area. there are times when her nasolabial folds are prominent and other times when that area is smooth. when she came back from hiatus, they were pretty prominent, likely bc she was on break and therefore didn't mess with her features for a while.

Her before and after on jaw is least on jaw shaving and more on neck tightening imo

eh, i'm not sure abt that first photo tho, since there were rumors/speculations that she was already getting PS way before she debuted. it's possible her jaw may have already been operated on in that first photo, but left some part of her mandible untouched. there's a possibility that her old jaw may have actually looked much bigger/wider than the one in the first photo.

regardless, whenever i see the lower part of her face, it just feels like there's a big part of it missing. it doesn't help that she has a rather long neck and she gets chin fillers.

anyways, to me, sejeong remains the idol with the best, natural looking jaw work done. i didn't even know it till somebody else pointed it out.

his lip fillers don't help either... whenever i see yeonjun, sometimes i find him handsome and other times he looks a bit uncanny valley to me.

It's not only her, lot of other 'older' idols get these comments. And tbh to some idols it does apply heavily. Well in a way it applies to all idols since they do take care of their appearance and use fillers etc but not to an extent fans usually say. But sometimes it can be hard to tell since everything is filtered to hell and back. Pictures, mvs, variety, fansite pictures etc. are so filtered. (also lot of fans dont know what 30 year-olds look like)

i keep seeing these comments with irene A LOT. i feel like kpop's surgery culture and ageism has warped fans' perception of ages to a huge extent.

looking at the likes of taeyeon, wendy, and karina has made me hate and dread jaw shaves so much. they're def my top examples of jaw shaves gone wrong, bc whenever i see the lower part of their faces, they look very obviously disproportionate and unnatural, like there's something missing. the only person i can think of who actually looked natural with it is sejeong.

edit: it seems he may have had double eyelid surgery too. his lid creases seem a bit higher and deeper compared to his lids when he was young.

he actually had both alarplasty and tip plasty (you might've missed that part) acc to kpoprocedure. his tip does look more projected which i guess was part of his tip plasty procedure.

this is what i found, which makes sense i guess? from what we've seen of wonyoung, way before she debuted, she was already skinny, but somehow it looked "natural" (idk if that's the right term). she's definitely gotten skinnier tho, to the point that we're seeing more of her bones.

The rumour has also changed through the years, first it was that one of her grandfathers was taiwanese then it changed to her father being taiwanese, then it changed to chinese, her father job also changed from chef, to owner of a restaurant to a high class job.

that reasoning abt how the "most famous 4th gen idol shouldn't be taiwanese" is funny tho, considering koreans don't seem to have that much problem with tzuyu, who is fully taiwanese and popular... 

and while we're on the topic of ethnicity: i'm 1/4 chinese and 3/4 filipino, yet i look more chinese than filipino. my dad and i always joke abt how "chinese blood always dominates" there was also this one time while commuting, the driver mistook me for a tourist/foreigner

and, i really don't wanna say this, but it's possible she may have had botox too. i noticed her face is a bit stiff at times. i remember seeing her on radio star (that episode where she did that controversial split ) and i noticed her face seemed to be barely moving while talking.

they want their face as slim as possible while maintaining youthfulness. i reckon that's the logic behind that decision. tbh unless the idol's face is naturally full, in most cases, buccal fat reduction leads to premature aging. 

one thing i noticed: the buccal fat area is somewhere below the cheekbones, so i guess they want to achieve a contoured lower face. meanwhile, they usually inject fillers/fat somewhere on the upper face (like the apples of their cheeks) for a more lifted look. i think most of the time that's what they're going for. basically removing fullness from where it looks undesirable and enhancing fullness to where it looks "desirable."

it's her nose. noses that are overly pinched or overly operated on can give that effect. naeun (former apink) is one example i can think og whose nose job made her look older.

Also, even though he works out and has low body fat and you might expect his jawline to be very defined, it's less defined these days (see the right bottom-most picture) compared to earlier years. I'm not sure if any cosmetic procedures can cause that kind of issue.
