Oh okay I see. So in the first recording (I Won’t Give Up), I was actually phrasing a good amount of E4s at the top (even, some, we GOTta, no I won’t) along with C4s (stars they burn, lot to learn, etc.) while the Ds were more or less passing notes. I think you’re referring to Halo when you mention the Ds and F right? Also, in terms of lower range, I’ve been told that I support down to F#/G2. If you don’t really hear that though, it’s fine. My actual speaking range is around E2-B2 with F2-G#2 being a comfortable middle ground, which I feel is lower than what you’d hear from a lyric tenor.
My instructor is actually someone you might know and he’s been pretty firm about me being a baritone ever since the allegations started coming up. Considering he is also a baritone, it’d be a bit weird if he misclassfied me after hearing and training basically every part of my voice for so long right?
If it matters, I’m also not that old yet either. I hear voices are supposed to develop down to your late 20s while I’m still in my very early 20s, so maybe my voice might sound different later down the line.
Ig it’s just been really confusing for me these past couple months bc I’m not really sure whose opinion I should be going with. Those two vocally knowledgeable friends who say that I’m a lyric tenor vs. my instructor, who’s heard basically my entire range and has worked with many other baritones, who says that I’m a lyric baritone. Sorry if this is getting a bit ranty. I really appreciate the input and will definitely take it into consideration!
If possible, could you give me a rundown of the baritones you guys have reclassified as lyric tenors? I’ve been trying to look around the forum, but couldn’t really find a solid list.
