  1. I really forgot to post this but I wanted to talk about this weeks ago

When I see that first picture I got fucking scared. He looks gaunt. His face is bony.

Like even on stage his face looks sunken in even when the camera apparently „adds“ weight to you.

Also I think we had established that his nose skin is thining out and therefor you can see the implant but I did not think it would be THAT visible from a rather grainy, zoomed in picture. Could that also be the weight loss or just a natural thing that comes with time?

I feel like Yoongi is also unneccessary skinny. I believe someone had brought up that he had his cheekbone shaved after/before debut, so if you take that as a real statement, how skinny do you have to become for your shaved down cheekbones to have become prominent again? also to that extent. I feel like he‘s debut style skinny again.

I just really dislike in what direction all that is going. The whole band is super thin right now and has been for a while.

a bit random, but a mexican newspaper published suga came out of the closet.

If this gets blown up on social media, I can already smell the lawsuit.... This is such a slimy tactic to get cloud, I do hope they get sued by Hybe.

It's very unlikely that we ever will truly know if Yoongi is gay or not, though he did give hints in his earlier idol years but now as bts have grown even over the idol status and have become much more private, I doubt that we'll ever know any of the guys sexualities, maybe when they marry.

I forgot to post this earlier but the Hoseok thing got me curious, anyone have more things about him?

  3. Somethings foul there

Putting the facts together that Nmixx is super active right now and Jinni trained for 6 years only to stay for less than a year in a group that is garantied to succeed… Somethings doesn‘t add up

She also is one of the more popular members, too, really strange situation

I hope she is okay and I wish her everything well

SHE IS 18??? She trained through her whole teenage years and now is leaving the group after 10 months, yeah no there‘s definetly something wrong

@DDiddy i agree with everything you say but honestly, how the fandom responded on twt to the jk x fifa collab really crossed a line for me.  it became clear to me that i wasn't willing to compromise my personal politics for someone who's music i'm a fan of.

it's really depressing that army fandom seems to thrive on alienating people who simply just, don't agree with the status quo of the fandom which is to blindly accept anything bts do. ironically, i would argue that their behaviour is completely detrimental to the well-being of the members but that's a conversation for another time.

to stay on-topic, here's an interesting interview with nasser mohamed, who is an lgbtq qatari and founder of the alwan foundation. trigger warning tho: it does talk about institutional homophobia [ofc] and conversation therapy.

in terms of football, this cup seems to have been very boring so far.

I absolutly get that and agree very much with you.

About the Nasser Mohammed Interview: It is insane to me how far they go to actively 'hunt' for the lgbt people. Like it is one thing to have homophobic laws (many countries were not neccesarry against lgbt but they also only in recent years started inplementing laws supporting lgbt) but it is a whole other thing to literally hunt anyone who could be associated with lgbt, insanity.

I do think to fix the issue Sanctions are the right way, Quatar speaks the language of money the best, if they suddenly start loosing it, they might think over if being homophobic on an institutionised level is a good idea in such a modern and ever changing world.

    @sour candy is no problem!

to circle it all back to the jungkook debate, i find it really difficult to understand how some fans can put aside all of this [qatar controversies] to support jungkook's choice. regardless of what his personal morals are and what hybe's company ethics are, i do feel as though choosing to use your platform to promote this world cup is essentially an endorsement. while i expect football world to be somewhat apolitical on these matters, absolutely didn't expect hybe/jungkook and by association BTS to be.

I have to say depending in what country you live or what your personal interests are you might never actually see the controvery or care to find out more as football lies so far out of your interest zone, it was like that for me until I saw Jungkook being associated with it (who is indeed of interest to me) so I started to educate myself about the issue and choose to not support Jungkook in the world cup.

But many fans might not have actually known that there was a controversy at all regarding Quatar or if they did they simply didn't care and are too deep in the fandom in realise that there is an issue. If you step out of line in twitter, when you're unlucky a lot of people with big accs will come after you, so better keep quiet, stay ignorant in your little bubble or come to a more niche platform to talk about this, like I did.

I'm not trying to protect anyone but it is very hard to speak out against the artists in this fandom.

...yes? That's exactly what people have been saying since Qatar was announced as the host (and when the migrant workers deaths have been reported). Viewership in Germany is down by 40% bc people have been boycotting it. That's what an actual boycott is.

Ik that is not part of the discussion but idk if Germany is a great example to give since the actual football team failed to do the boycott because the were not allowed to wear the ''one love'' armband and didn't wanna risk getting a yellow card, so they didn't do it.

Instead they just put a hand over their mouth and called it a day.

The people of germany are doing better job with protesting against that, that I agree with you, but I still don't see that having a great impact on the event tbh

    Spoiler

This is even more off topic but I also see wearing an armband that says One love or covering their mouth as a shitty way to ''boycott'' something. It's just so obviously performative, it hurts me. I don't have any idea what else they could have done, but an armband is just not it. And in the end not doing it, makes it even worse... this whole fifa situation is such a mess

  7. This skinnness thing is getting out of hand, it's crazy that this trends even creeped into some of the most successfull and established idols in the Industry. Bts were always very skinny, in my opinion (but so is literally everyone in this industry from my pov lol), yet it is getting every extreme and I feel like I can see that best in Jungkook. His face has not looked this skinny in a long time and I wonder if the way his body is right now is sustainable?. In what direction are they going? How will this end?

The industry right now is a breeding group for eating disorders and a fucked relationship with food, and if even senior idols cave under that pressure to get skinnier and skinnier I do not wanna know what rookies are undergoing right now.

  8. This discussion has turned rather pointless, we don't know if he had say in this or not. I personally think it was a desicion that Hybe took and Jungkook most likely didn't object as it would benefit him and the company.

The truth tho is that we don't know anything about this situation, we only know the outcome, which is him performing there. So just pining opinions agianst opinions doesn't really make this thread more interesting in any way.

I think BH went along with the government because they hoped they'd get enlistment exemption. But now that BTS is enlisting, there's some pressure off their backs - they can't be used as political pawns to the same extent.

I'm not expecting any BTS member to become very outspoken but we can see their individual priorities better. As a team they have to reflect the majority consensus and well that can be different from what a member wants.

For example I remember the dragging RM got for saying he didn't want to put out works all in English and then they did Dynamite - but if you pay attention RM really didn't want to do it and now in his solo activities is reaching out to Korean indie acts. He was asked in interviews and he had to basically eat humble pie all the while probably screaming inside

Reserving judgment till I find out about what's happening at the WC but idk I'm not at all thrilled that Jungkook's involved. Maybe he has no choice but I'm not confident his decision would be so different if he did.

That makes a lot of sense, I didn't see it from that perspective before. It is interesting, I didn't know that RM was so against english songs, I do remember the american  interview where they kept asking if bts would do english songs and him not looking very excited about the question, but it never occured to me that he disliked it a lot. I think around that time I was still too deep in the fandom to have noticed.

I was hoping Jk's involvedment would stop with an ad but i saw the song and stage  anouncement today... 💀

The thing is though, I've always felt some members did not appreciate the political pressures that made them do it. Which weren't dissimilar to the pressures that got them to perform at Busan this year.

So right now it's interesting to see how members will act in their solo careers, whether they will show the same helplessness / value-neutrality or they will step up to take on different opportunities and express opinions that reflect their individual values. At least those I consider LGBT+ / politically-aware / socially-conscious.

I'm not sure I understand you right but why is anything suppossed to have changed now that they are going solo? they are still under the same company and same contract, their actions will have effects on bts if they want or not. While I agree with the point that they have grown and are recognized as big artists which consequently would lead to more freedom in some aspects of their life, they still are bound to an contract, for as long as they have signed it or as long as bts as a group stays alive.

Now we don't know what these contracts state but I am not expecting that hype would be trilled if their biggest artists got muddled into political issues or conroversies.

As I know how threads on here are: I am not trying to excuse hype or bts for not speaking out/participating in the quatar world cup but it could become quite messy for hybe to get involved in that, especially since they had no issue letting bts perform in countries with similar politics. Ergo their silence makes sense.

Yeah, I talked about Jungkook and his blatant weight issues a couple of pages ago (he also gets praised a lot for his waist). If a female idol said half of the things he said there would have been a bigger outrage.

I just wanted to bring him up. He still seems to be dieting very hard, I’m honestly not sure how much thinner he can go. The other members often said his body fat percentage was in the single digits, I wonder why he still is so restictive still.

You are absolutly right, male idols get disregarded a lot more while they have as many issues with disordered eating as female idols do.

I'm not here to make friends, sorry. I gave my honest opinion, and you don't have to agree with it but I'm not going to wrap it in "everyone is so valid for their thoughts" to make people feel better about what I think.

Absolutely none of that is particularly convincing to me, and I do know all of it considering I've been a fan for a long time. Sorry. Lots of idols are "interested" in LGBT things, unfortunately not all of them are going to be lgbt due to it. I have absolutely never seen Taehyung express attraction to a man. Him watching a film and liking some gay photographers and being fine with singing with a man is lovely (of course it's fanservice to some extent, they literally rehearsed the vmin hand hold into their Friends performance, don't be thick), and he's certainly an ally. But at the end of the day the vibes I get from him are that he really likes women and may like men but with way less of a preference. As I said, its the Harry Styles thing all over again. Dude had some interesting fashion, liked and promoted lgbt stuff, was an open ally, even talked about men he thinks are hot, and still predominantly dates women (in fact, as far as anyone knows, exclusively). Doesn't mean he can't be bi but he certainly seems to prefer women. That's exactly the same energy I get from Taehyung.

In fact I think it's telling that someone jumps in and says "Taehyung could be bi but I think he prefers women" and there's already animosity. Why would that bother you? He'd still be queer, wouldn't he? Or do you just need or want him to prefer dating men?

And yes I emphasized my experience because in all kpop spaces that discuss male sexuality, I've found a good 80 percent of contributors are women and/or straight. As someone who is tired of queer men being fetishized by women...there's literally a post one page ago about Jungkook having feminine mannerisms therefore is he gay...I do in fact come to these spaces knowing many of the people in them are not queer men and make up their minds on attraction, shipping and stereotypes.

With certain idols (cough BTS cough) people don't seem to want real opinions from queer men. You have people pages back saying every member of BTS is in someway LGBT which is borderline statistically impossible, so you just know that if you post an opinion that most of them are straight and the ones that aren't aren't the ones people wish, people are going to get whiny about it.

my issue with you is that you present yourself as superior to the others in this thread when in fact we are all the same. Your opinion is not more important than others. Disguising being mean under the premise of honesty just makes you look fake. Let everyone believe what they want without being an condecending about it. Ngl but it’s people like you that make this thread a shitty space to be in sometimes.

Well if someone like Siwon does the below and than says he doesn't think being gay is natural. I have an issue with that and that is called queerbating. Using gay esthetics and culture to monetize and increase your popularity within a group of fans that only fetishiz your entire being, is wrong. I agree with you that not all idols do this, but sometimes fanservice can go to far and become queerbating.

I know what you are saying and I agree with it 100% but the example you gave seems to be an exeptions rather than the norm, I feel like. I haven’t seen anyone do what he did before and I like to think this extreme doesn’t happen very often, where someone implies being homosexual while being inherently against it and outright says so.

  14. As someone who’s lgbt I always found accusing idols of queerbaiting really unnessecary. Like it literally is none of our business what any idols sexuality is (yet we are discussing it here every day lol), they could be gay, or questioning or simply not have a label and people out here are like “yeah that’s queerbaiting”.

Even if it is queerbaiting, I’m sorry but like does anyone care? cuz I don’t find in issue with that at all (if we don’t know if the person is straight). We don’t know anyones sexuality and yet people are accusing others of queerbaiting when we don’t know if the person is straight in the first place. Just weird and gatekeepy statement to make tbh

not saying this to be mean and sorry this take might upset people but hobi's been botox'd & fillered. he lost all that weight but his cheeks are naturally that apple-y? nope

joon too. he looks different right now and i can't tell if it's weight loss and/or something else.

Can you share some pics regarding Namjoon? I was always assuming all of bts (and also the whole kpop industry) do fillers but in the case of Joon it never stood out to me, I think I was too concentrated on his nose.

Thoughts on Yuna’s potential jaw implants? I don’t have a lot of other context, but I’m wondering if this could signify a shift in beauty standards from the typical jaw shave look? It just seems so uncommon for a female idol to go for this kind of look.

Personally, I think the implants mess with Yuna’s facial harmony, and she could do without them. Mostly I’m thinking of how unnecessary they were. The implants give her a much blockier look which as far as I know, isn’t as popular.

I thought everyone was still going for the egg look? (I tried very hard but I couldn't put it more eloquently lol and I'm very tired rn)

I wonder what happened. I just really wish young idols like Yuna would slow down with all the procedures, if you're going that fast at 18 what will you do at 25? 30?

My guess is that Yuna is going for a more adult, also potencially a more western look? Like you said it's not very common in idols to see strong features like this, most strive for soft, feminine and young features while she is trying to get rid of her young and soft feature. While in the west you often see models with strong jaws and cheek bones.
