so i was looking through the thread and i was wondering if anyone also thinks jungwon could be queer? to me he comes off as... aggressively heterosexual lol. but i can confirm that no 18-year-old boy focusses on soul searching, much less one that has a full-time career. the one instance i can think of with jungwon being sus is the one where he was discussing with niki about valentine's and he admitted that a guy friend bought him chocolates, but then he brushed it off really awkwardly. i don't think i've seen queer yjw discussion before here so i'd love to hear more opinions on this haha. also, regarding semantic error... wow. the chemistry between jaechan and seoham is off the charts. i don't tend to watch bl and i also don't like kdrama, but i sat down to watch semantic error yesterday and i have to say i was really impressed! i like how it has a budget first of all, and second of all how the actors aren't completely awkward. i don't know anything about jaechan but i used to semi-follow knk back in the day and i think seoham is mlm. there should be discussion about him here from a few years ago. seoham used to go by seungjun back then so if anyone wants to search him up that's the way to go.

man, the whole heeseung situation is so depressing. he's my ult and literally the only man i find genuinely attractive as a wlw, and the guy's clearly had image issues for a while (he's definitely talked about weight loss/gain on live before, currently lacking a source) and he also calls himself unattractive/ugly. i find it beyond stupid that kpop fans believe their favs are unique and 100% natural, when sk already has insane ps rates, even more so in the idol industry. the notion that having plastic surgery automatically implies some sort of immorality or ugliness needs to go. in kpop, ps is the norm and not the exception. but most of all shame on bighit and shame on all the companies who force their idols to do the most unnecessary procedures. enhypen's age average is 19 and at least 5/7 members have had work done. if you have someone do a nose job at 18, when the body image issues are peaking, then the implant suddenly starts moving around at 19/20, their whole perception of their face is destroyed. what happens next? they inevitably have to have a revision. then the face just isn't the same. it's a vicious cycle of revisions and maintenance and unimaginable body issues. anyway rant over, i'm just sick of kpop fans discovering that plastic surgery exists for the first time

it's so nice to see discussion about onlyoneof! i barely know them but their racy concept was impressive. although it was an obvious cashgrab by the company the guys seem to be pretty comfortable with it, it's refreshing to see idols be so chill for once. their only 'gay' moment i'm aware of is this one, which makes me laugh all the time (please excuse the music): it's funny because nine just reads the comment out of the blue but i'm glad he read it regardless. their reaction is very sweet. on another note, while digging through this thread i found this ancient video with sungmin from super junior and it makes me realise that we've really come a long way even in comparison to 10-15 years ago: frankly the editing is disgusting and the laugh track plays at the most inappropriate moments, but it's shocking to see how only a decade ago wearing the colour pink warranted bullying and invasive questions. sungmin in particular got so much shit for being 'unmanly' just for liking 'feminine' stuff, which is mental. he even had to ham up his manliness every time, when heechul kissed him on stage he didn't talk to him for months. obviously the kiss meant nothing to heechul b/c it was fanservice and he's (presumably) straight, but it must have been a tremendous blow to sungmin's masculinity. it's no wonder he rushed to marry at 28 or so, while the rest of suju are unmarried to this day. not saying he doesn't love his wife, but he basically sabotaged his entire career by announcing his marriage, so i suppose he must have really wanted to make a statement. at least the two are still together and they seem quite happy. the video is a very interesting watch. if there's anything to take away from it, it's that things have definitely changed for the better. it's stuff like this that help sensitise the people and it was brave of him to address this issue, which now seems trivial but it was a big deal back then.

you know what, i'm with you on this. i don't think it's that much of a reach to say that romantic/sexual bonds can form in the context of training/work essentially. when you see someone all the time, you reach a specific point of intimacy with them whether you like it or not, and it seems totally normal to me that someone might catch feelings (or more likely: get horny) along the way. it's the human psyche, idols aren't robots. emphasis mine bc lmao. i have been looking through this thread's earlier pages and there was a certain openness when it comes to ships that doesn't exist at all today. given, ships are 99% the product of agencies, but it's still fun to speculate about them and actually think about what might be true and what might not be, and what ships say about the idols as individuals. obviously we can't know everything about the idols but who really does, you know? i think it's a bit silly to be apprehensive when it comes to speculation such as this, when we will never learn the truth anyway. it's nothing serious. that being said, the only ship i have never had doubts about being real is probably kyungil/yijeong from history. those guys were Too much, and their nugu status definitely let them get away with things that, if done by some semi-popular idols, would result in a mass meltdown. i mean personally, if i wanted to canoodle with a bandmate, i would definitely keep it very lowkey on camera with them. thus fans would focus on more popular ships while i would remain at peace. but you never really know in the end, everyone shows their attraction in different ways.

oh boy... i can't say i haven't been through the same confusion phase before. jay/jungwon is definitely enha's longest running ship (shout out to jakehoon the fallen soldier) and that definitely plays a role in why it's so strong yk? they do have some moments that come off as sus, but mostly i believe it's just friends doing friend stuff. the past few months actually i think they've been a bit overshadowed by heejake who – bruh. i've never seen two people want to have their hands on each other so much before. it's kinda funny how this ship emerged out of nowhere, maybe it's a new promoted ship or maybe it isn't and they're just super affectionate all the time, who knows. enha could very well be queerbaiting but with the way they're marketed it's hard to believe their affectionate interactions are staged, i mean it looks like typical friendly stuff to me. bts and txt have queerbaited before afaik, but enha's concept is such that they have to be as sterilised android vampire boyfriends as possible. i'm not sure how queerbaiting would satisfy their fanbase, which seems to largely consist of middle schoolers who dream of dating them who are also kinda homophobic on top of that

From personal experience, a close friend watched 'Moonlight' with her homophobic dad on her dad's recommendation (!!). That doesn't make either of them queer, but it shows that even homophobes can enjoy queer media. That's why movies are a bit tricky when it comes to proof. I get it with Kevin from TBZ watching Pose, which is kinda niche, but with examples like CMBYN, which is quite mainstream, not so much. yall what do you think about btob minhyuk? he seems gay to me, i remember watching his interactions w/ skz while kingdom ran and he made me go i think he was quite flirty with them, esp. seungmin and changbin (seungmin even went to his house like 3 times HAH). at some point later last year, he was also close with soobin but really i don't know anything about the guy. what i do know however, is that he does a lot of photoshoots which have decidedly homoerotic undertones, most notably the one where he's dressed up like a leather cowboy or something. and to connect this to the harry styles thing, kpop idols often experiment with queer subtext, whether it be intentionally or not. harry styles honestly just wears the ugliest clothes ever and is labelled as a progressive king, when so many have adopted a more androgynous image in the past and became cultural icons (david bowie, boy george, pete burns, x japan, etc). i think the main difference w/ harry styles is that he used to be part of a boy band, and we all know how much heteronormativity is fostered in boy band fandoms, so his attempt at breaking gender norms was quite celebrated as a result. western boy bands especially are quite masculine, but with kpop the catch is that almost everyone is a pretty flower boy. at the same time, their heterosexuality is never doubted, and because of this inherent heteronormativity, kpop artists will do pretty gay-coded concepts and it will pass by people's heads. the minhyuk photoshoot linked above + this sunoo photoshoot from b:c really gave me a shock cuz they are quite homoerotically charged, even for kpop standards. i was wondering if anyone else has instances of such photoshoots, because i feel like stylists and coordinators at times just slip in some subtext knowing that the average kpop fan won't notice the difference.
