  1. (someone correct me if I am wrong) To surpass Lina she will need way fuller head voice and also to support higher and resonant better at her mix, its quite far from her current level...
  2. They ussally don't talk about technique but yesterday for no reason they started to, one of them claim to be trained, he basically say support=not flat and not cracking, and he just praise a bunch of shallow light voices for thinner upper belting and completely ignore how the vocalists sound in the midrange. Anyway I didn't engage a lot since its not some vocal thread or anything.
  3. People on discord really like shallow voices, they think Haechan and Minnie are better than Tail, Doyoung, Seungkwang ....
  4. I saw Reggievu saying its not supported (edit:obviously I believe you more lol)
  5. Oh I thought Minhye is more consistent, atleast on Eb5, but Eunji at her best does seem to do better.
  6. Yes I know but ZRH was talking only on Eb5-F#5, not the mid belts where Eunji is clearly better...
  7. Baz have her in his chart, she is low/low to mid AA.
  8. You mean it doesn't work well ? It works fine for me...
  9. Oh, she does have some passable F5s in head it seems, I am just being safe with it for now until I finish the video. She would be atleast above average. I am not sure about who is better between her and Yona, if both are mezzos like I think than Yona may have the edge due to having a more consistent handle on the lower 5th octave ? idk for sure.
  10. I am actually working on a range video of her, from what I am hearing she usually does fine around F#3-B4/C5-E5, I am not sure about the lows coz those can be fairly inconsistent, also, her mix can get rough above Bb4 when not well rested (but thats not always the case).
  11. I only found one student of Yona before, but she only does covers in youtube she didn't debut yet, so its nice to have some names finally, is any of those singers a standout though ? (I guess Changsub is, tbh honnest Yona strike me as someone who will focus on stylstic delivery more than correct technique when teaching, but I could be wrong). Oh its cool that you know someone who studied under her.
  12. Technique wise ? she is not too impressive or good, at her best some G4-A4 are passable but even in this range tension is not unusual.
  13. @ZRH23 So I wondered whats Cheryl Porter's level, she seem to have a kinda old school approach with less brightness and a lot of focus on the 4th octave but still she seem to handle up to C5-D5 area fine in mix, her mid belts can have some roundness and fullness, and she have a quite full head voice, based on this videos where would you place her in the AA and up area ? 1:11 head voice D5-E5, 2:21 A4 1:44 Eb5, 1:49 Eb5, 2:21 D5-B4, 2:26 D5, 2:28 F#5 in upper, 2:51 C6 in upper 0:01-0:10 C#5s and A4s, 0:11 E5, 0:21 F5 head voice, 0:23 Bb5, 0:28 G#5, 0:35-0:54 sustained B4s and phrased C#5s 3:37 C5 2:58 head voice D5, 3:45 C5, 3:56 C5 3:27 C5 4:07 A4 Sorry if its to many clips, you don't have to listen to all of them.
  14. I mean... you are just not making sense lol, I saw in the past comments of ppl who disagree with how Baz/the blog rank singers, but they said what they said with some sort of ideology behind it, doesn't seem to be the case with you. No a soprano will not -always- rank above a lower female voice type. First of all, bcoz not all sopranos will for sure support higher than a mezzo/contralto, Lee Jiyoung is a mezzo who can handle C5s, can Rose/Nayeon/Jongyeon/Jihyo (who are all high sopranos) do it ? no. Second of all, bcoz lower voices are noted as being lower placed and therefore aren't expected to do the same as higher ones, there is different standard for each voice type, for sopranos, for mezzos and for contraltos. And don't even let me start with your "born with potential" thing, a lot of singers faced major improvements thanks to hard work. What will you say about that ? I mean, maybe they just pressed the pokemon evolution switch they were born with ?
  15. But "Hwanhee is definitely a dramatic tenor" ...
  16. @ZRH23 I know that he is a total clown and all of that but I still want to ask, is what he is saying here about open vs closed throat true ? or is it just him messing up terms ? 3:10-4:00
  17. From when is resonance a requirement for A-AA ? or even for AA...
  18. I think that she still do some covers and stuff, not a lot though. (She sounds average to me nowadays but I might be wrong)
  19. She sound quite similar to that in masked singer and in some of her covers...
  20. Thoughts on Wheein's recent performance ? 2:59 phrased C5, 3:08 sustained C5, 3:32 she didn't belt the D5 this time
  21. lol she is a soprano, even if she doesn't support above G#4/A4 it doesn't mean she start to close her throat this low or that anything above it will be strained and tight.
