I used to prefer "ì˜¤ì§ ë„ˆë¿ì¸ 나를" to "서쪽하늘", but I think I've switched now.
"ì˜¤ì§ ë„ˆë¿ì¸ 나를" is a great ballad and I think it's arguably one of her best vocal performances ever, especially the "사랑해" at the bridge where she slips flawlessly from powerful to delicate in the same breath/word/run. It's a very solid performance from her and I liked the song so much I used part of the lyrics to in one of my passwords, haha. The "ì–´ëŠë‚ 난 너 ë– ë‚œ 보낸 후ì—" (not '오랜', btw) is a really good lead-in to the rest of the line/bridge, and I also love that you can feel everything building up and rushing to the "사랑해" and so on...and the "사랑해" is my favorite part.
"서쪽하늘", however, is a really powerful track that's just composed really amazingly and I really love that it uses the (comparatively) lower range so much because it provides a really interesting/fascinating contrast with when the song goes higher. It also makes it really dramatic and intense. Younha sounds really rich and full and strong in this song, especially during the "ê°€ê³ ì‹¶ì–´â€¦ë„ ë³´ê³ ì‹¶ì–´â€¦ê¼ ì°¾ê³ ì‹¶ì—ˆì–´â€¦" section, but I think my favorite part is the "사랑하는 ë‚ â€¦ë– ë‚˜ê°€ëŠ” ë‚ â€¦/í•˜ëŠ˜ë„ ìŠ¬í¼ì„œ ìš¸ì–´ì¤€ë‚ /ë¹—ì†ì— ë– ë‚ ë‚˜ì˜€ìŒì„…넌 ì•Œê³ ìžˆëŠ”ë“¯ì´â€¦" chorus.
"ì˜¤ì§ ë„ˆë¿ì¸ 나를" is an amazing ballad, but "서쪽하늘" lends itself to so much grandeur and is so dramatic (and she sounds so good in it) that I have to pick the latter. I'll probably change my mind again at some point though

PREAAACH! I still prefer ì˜¤ì§ ë„ˆë¿ì¸ 나를 over 서쪽하늘 though, although only slightlyyyyy. My iTunes reports that I've played it 30 more times than 서쪽하늘, which isn't a lot x). They both start out oh-so-gentle until she hits the bridge, and then cue SLAYAGE GALORE. I'm a sucker for all of Younha's bridges. Seriously the bridge usually is the weakest part in songs, but her delivery makes it a highlight for me. I know she was stressed out on IAAS2, but man the stuff she gave us.. <3

ITS OUTTTTTT. I agree with all you guys said ): They could've mixed it better, especially the chorus/harmonizing part. JJY completely drowned Younha out. It sounded more like JJY ft Younha rather than a JJY x YH collaboration.
I hope his voice and name brings in the spotlight though.. possibly better than John Park's duet for Supersonic did. I still prefer Would We Have Changed, but maybe its because this one hasn't firmly grown upon my ears yet. It's a quality track, just with a little less Younha in it than anticipated lol.
OMG someone switched their hairstyles haha

Omg LOL

I can't stop chuckling

Younha during practice I assume

Thats the same outfit from her radio~ The one you posted in spoilers above xD Such a cute shark jacket lol

yeah after watching a Nine Muses pre-debut documentary where there isn't a single happy moment at all TT so depressing. They had to work so hard with the uncertainty of succeeding...
I must say that office is pretty spacious, maybe because it's new. And those chairs are pretty luxurious =3.
You know how in Korean dramas the handphone incoming call tune is some random Ost lol. I'd imagine the office phones all playing Password486 haha
That Namyu documentary... So much hardwork and suffering
. Mad respect to them really. It's a tough life, I dont blame all those idols that wanted out of the biz. Takes loads of determination to tough it out till success comes, if at all x.x -
Ahhh. I'm sorry, what I said seems to have ruffled some feathers here.
I can't count how many times I've blasted that when no one's home so I could sing along to it in all its pop-rock glory.
Lolol no feathers can get ruffled in here! It's the Younha thread
We don't get all upset and touchy like the other fandoms (lol, they are fun to watch) "I Like You" was my ultimate jam a few years back <3 It's never fallen off my list! Such a great song to rock to, I'm still pressed that she didn't promote it x.x
-
I think of Younha more as an artist than an idol.
For me the idea of an idol in kpop is a person or a group that is promoted by the music company for songs along with their image and other promotions.
Younha pretty much only promotes her music and she has control over what music she produces while most of the idols basically have little control in the music and simply promote what the company gives them.
They also say what the company wants them to say. Poor things don't have any independent movement that isn't tied to their label. What a strange entertainment system.. so much micromanagement.

Loooool that massive poster is hilarious! She's like eye-ing everyone/everything that passes by in front of her haha. Most effective way of intimidating employees into work x) Unless they spend all day staring at it of course, like that last pic
-
On my mobile now, so cant do quoting easily and stuff. But someone made a thread about KPKF comments on Younha, and its not just us, but other people thinks she looks like Changmin too!! Haha, but they think she got her nose done T.T. leave Younha alonee.
^ I consider Younha non-idol, but I want her to fall under the umbrella of idol kpop so she can get more exposure and screentime. After all, she is pretty enough (by the impossible KPop industry standards of beauty), sings well and has good image and fanservice. What's not to love? She just needs screen time.
Davichi is split in that HaeRi is not an idol, she is there purely for singing and doing the heavy lifting. MinKyung is the one that gets them the screentime, using her beauty and idol personality to get the Davichi name out there. Its no surprise MinKyung gets all the CFs and variety shows. Its a good strategy. To me, Younha is like a blend of the Davichi members, only she does everything alone and across many genres of music.
Im glad you like her music! That's what it's all about :D Stick around and you won't be dissapointed with her releases! My other biases come and go, but Younha's music keeps her at the top for meOkay. I am sold. I was originally sticking around this thread, because I was interested in Younha's new release. I had never heard her previous works, but I just listened to two of her mini albums and I love them.

Ahahaha, I just asked because there was a top ten ranking earlier in this thread (way before I joined) and everyone had such different choices. It's really interesting to see what everyone picks
I've been on a Japanese kick recently, so my top ten Younha songs would definitely include Houkiboshi/Touch/If especially now, because that melody is so lovely.Yeahhh everyone has really different choices for their top ten ranking! Her songs have a very wide appeal to different people I guess. Even songs that don't sound nice to one person sound really good to others x) (ahem, Unacceptable and One Shot). My top ten frequently changes too, depends on my mood at that time. Younha is the only artist I know that can cater to different moods.. The one person to satisfy all your music needs
Her artistic approach to her music, is very genius.
I just feel that her intelligence(IQ) and her intrinsic positiveness have produced her talent in singing.
She actually is a genius :O She taught herself piano, Japanese, and perhaps English/guitar as well. I wish I was half as dedicated/smart/hardworking as her.. maybe I could do things with my life then haha
-
If the two are in relationship, I will be very unhappy.
hands off to Joonyoung. He is not worthy
It is hard to be worthy of Younha! She's just so talented and awesome, its hard to match up! I think she is only friends with Joon Young though.. it seems like a friendzone relationship x)
REMEMBER ON RADIO STAR SHE SAID SHE HAS FEELINGS FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN A GUEST ON STARRY NIGHT. OH GOD
LOL the only problem is that there have been a million male guests on Starry Night!! Who indeeedddd...

Thank you ^^
A kingdom for Run I am ready to give up ;_;
Hmm, thank you for clarifying this song title issue. Nothing. I love Nothing xD
I think Younha could probably name a song Potato salad and it would still be one of the best songs out there, so yeah

I see you're also new to the forum! Welcome welcome :DDD
Haha she actually has a song called Cream Sauce Pasta, so I wouldn't put a Potato song past her lolol
-
Sorry for just flying into the topic, but Younha was one of my first 'k-pop' discoveries and I just have to say she blows me away with every one of her songs. When I heard Run for the first time I just... "I couldn't even"
Set me free is one of my absolute favourites :')
I learned Nothing (or Not there, what's correct?) on the piano because it is truly perfect :3
Also, she is really adorable and I like her ^^
Younha fighting!
Hey there and welcome to the thread! It's always great to have people pop by :D Yasss Younha is really talented in many ways! Run was an absolute masterpiece of a comeback song after the lawsuit <3 I think the most accurate is Nothing, although the literal translation is "Don't Have", but Nothing makes sense with the translation of the song more.
Misleading title though! It's not her first small venue concert! -
Yay!!!!! Thanks! I'm gonna go ahead and make this my sig...
Yay! High-5 we both decided to make Younha sigs at the same time :D

Sigh...seems the original uploader of the "26 and" concert videos wants them taken down. I'll make them unlisted for now TT
.___. why does he want them taken down??
Sidenote: I really want that Do You Wanna Build a Snowman video to go viral.. spread the Younha love!
"26 and" concert?
Last year's End of Year concert I think..

What I hate about the internet sometimes is that there are times when I am looking up Younha and the internet decides her name is spelled wrong and corrects her name to Yoona. Goodness gracious. D; Makes me sad.
Omg, that teaser. I can't wait for that colab to come out. (Ironically, it comes out the day I graduate from school. YAY)
CONGRATULATIONS!
Now on to more school/work, lol xDI'm guessing that for people who don't know Younha. They see her and are like:
1. Nugu trying to sound like Yoona?
2. Old Singer??
3. Oh I thought she was Japanese! 0.o
4. Ooh She's cute no wonder Yoona is Korea's best visual (rofl)
Just for jokes lol
We will get more teasers!! That one was titled the 1st teaser and CJ E&M spoils it's own artists (JJY) with lotsa teasers as well as MV-in-the-making videos.
So much truth to this! Google always returns my searches as "Showing results for blabla YoonA instead". >:(
and No.1 on that list really makes me annoyed lol. I have read comments online from people who thought Younha came from SNSD, and they were spouting on about how talented YoonA is to be able to go solo from SNSD and produce "The Real Reason We Broke Up" on her own. Just... FACEPAAALM. they look nothing alike!
Omg this is wonderful *saves*-

LOL THEY SHALL RULE THE CHARTS INDEED!
Hi guys, myself a big big fan of Younha.
First time for me being in a foriegn fans forum.
cheers
Hello and welcome to the thread! ^^ You joined right on time to board the hype train! 29.5.2014, don't miss it :D

At first, I was scrolling and wondering why they only told us about the page now. I thought "They have recent news, so the page isn't really new." But then I realized that they go WAAAY back lol. It's great, it's literally a timeline of Younha's career.
Yeah that is crazy! If I didn't know better I would have thought it was a fan page. Maybe they let MEPlus take over as admin? 0.o
No, I think the page is new (it had 2 likes an hour ago, now it has 24), but was tinkered with so that it could post all the previous events in the timeline. Maybe because its a group page and not a personal profile, facebook probably has options for the admins to do that. The formats of the posts are all identical too, so its definitely been planned out by somebody
-
THE VIDEO ON THE FACEBOOK PAGE
I'm really surprised the fb page has been updated all the way back to 2004! Wow someone on their media department really did the work lol
-
hey hey hey her Japanese company MEPlus finally said something
so she now has a facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/younha.jp
and her activities in Japan are gonna be announced soon

Oh finally! Some action!! Wowwww how many years has it been since her last Japan promotion?! I hope the Japanese general public welcome her back warmly! I wonder if it will make a difference now that they know she is Korean
-
Wow all those connections...I had no idea she knew TVXQ, S.E.S and H.O.T so fondly. Hyosin as in Hyoshin, that awesome singer? 0.o
wow
Park Hyo Shin?
I've been guessing for a long time now that Younha knows a staggering amount of people in the industry.. She seems to have connections with idol groups, indie groups, and loads of senior artists (actors as well, lolol So Ji Sub). When Just Listen came out, I was sure she used some of her connections to get the artists to come and collaborate.
-
Yeah, not in recent times. One thing I remember is that Younha was (is?) a DBSK fan. She got all excited in her Younha in Japan program when she went to a music store and saw their albums.
She definitely was (idk about is) a fan, you don't just happen to know the piano score for a DBSK song by heart and play it during MusicBank rehearsals..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yhugd4V4w_4
Ah I see. Nothing is impromptu like I imagined X). But I don't see those members in that new studio room. Maybe Alive brought in their own musicians? =\
What did she thank him for? 0.o
I cant really rmb, so I did some googling and found this:
Changmin oppa who faithfully watches over of me.
The muscular cool boy, Jung-jin.
In addition, there’s no better words for the really gorgeous Hyosin oppa.
The divine/God’s voice which inspires me a lot, Junsu.
Yoochun oppa who in many ways keeps encouraging me.Many thanks to Bada sunbae. The light, Eugene sunbae, I will always remember you.
Thank you for your enlightment, Tony sunbae. A cool brother who always gives me many messages and constantly criticizes me
Apparently she thanked a whole load of other people as well, like Yubin Sunye and Yeeun, but for some reason I can't find the full translation of her thank you message, only the parts with DBSK in it are translated.
EDIT: She also mentioned BoA and Lee Hong-Ki, according to online comments. No translation on those though :/
Oh, also, its from her 3rd album Part B: Growing Season.. weird she didn't mention Yoo Hui Yeol
-

They've both got a relatively wide nose which differs from most other Korean celebrities that I've seen. They both have almost identical... whatever those smile lines are called... the ones that curve down from the sides of the nose. And their cheek-to-chin ratio is practically the same. Changmin's eyebrows are a bit bigger, but they still have a similar shape. Lol I at least have that one commenter who agrees haha.
I did have that thought sometime in the past too!! They kinda do look alike. But nowadays not so much.. The two of them have become so distinct in their own careers that I don't find them similar anymore. I do recall that Younha mentioned him before, I think in her album thank you section.
-
It's just a speculation haha. There's no way for us to know if she really was - she just acted a little bit off-center during the performance.
I hope she gets a wider recognition for her imitation abilities. I always say how Younha should become a voice actor because she can do so many different voices besides just imitating other singers.
One day she will! Lets hope this DYWBAS (phew) cover makes producers perk their ears and cast her for future voice-acting roles :D She hit Anna's voice spot-on.
-
Ah, a positive Allkpop article. And comments of "Who is She?" popping up. Not doing "Let It Go" was a clever move on her part it seems.
Oh in her first concert she was drunk? How could she be drunk right at the concert's opening??

And you know what comes to singers (like Kwill) who have shown they are good at mimicking other singers? I'm calling it that "Hidden Singer" will ask Younha to participate
. It's a show where 6 singers hide behind a door to sing and you have to guess who the original singer is (e.g. Kwill pretended to be Kim Jong Kook). I bet Koreans are already egging her on to join the show as a guest.Oh that sounds like an amazing concept! It would be really good if she went on the show! Like when she did that mimic cut on Beatles Code, that was impressive.
Yes and not singing Let It Go was a great move imo.. people are getting sick of that song. She delivered Do You Wanna Build a Snowman perfectly! I think that vid will make more casual kpop fans get to know her.
-
Aw man I remember watching that video and feeling so bad. But then again, she forgets the lyrics to songs all the time. My favorite is when she forgot the lyrics to "ë§ë„ 안ë¼/Can't Believe It" and she sang out "난 가사를 ëª¨ë¥´ê² ì–´~!" to the melody of a line haha. It has the exact number of syllables, so it matched the song perfectly. I was laughing for days.
Actually, I just found the video: HERE
Update:
Oooh I remember that performance! Hahaha yeah that was incredibly cute and appropriate lol! She forgets her lyrics all the time x.x She had a prompter for her Sketchbook performance of "Dance With You" and she still messed the lyrics up.. I guess its her one weak spot

Omg this is wonderful *saves*
Younha (고윤하) |OT| "Just Listen" to her music mang

Is it just me.. or does anyone think that the scene where she sits in the room is extremely similar to her parts in the So Ji Sub Picnic MV?
MV directors seem to like putting her on a chair in a brown brick room and getting her to put on her ballad face.. with some warm illumination from a random window behind her lol.
