Which male idols do you think are gay?
joonsoulie replied to cold soba's topic in Celebrity News & Gossip
I haven't gotten clowned for any delulu BTS posts in a while so NJ about to grab Jimin's waist and judging by where his hands came up he may have been holding onto him underwater That silence... was palpable -

Lots of straight men joke about being gay, though. Because the idea of being attracted to other men is funny, provided you're really not. He could be bi or even gay, I don't know, but... it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that his "gay rumors" are something to be laughed at, and by other straight celebrities -

UNPOPULAR OPINION Didn't GG say that he does this on purpose though? Like, acts non-threatening to get closer to girl group members? That and the way he and others joke about his sexuality is what makes me think he's straight, tbh... Admittedly I don't know much about him but I doubt someone who is actually closeted would laugh along with jokes about them being gay -

Yeah I'm not trying to be delulu but that guy doesn't look like him and the couple are from Austria (where the restaurant is located) so I highly doubt it's the same person. The question is then why the restaurant tagged them, unless he's somehow connected to the restaurant? In terms of the privacy I would agree but those pictures were clearly taken without Joon and his friend's knowledge, and according to the restaurant they got permission to upload them only after he had left the country. And the bf theory is still dwarfed by NJ's supposed wife and five children so it didn't create much of a scandal Of course I'm not sold either, but it's nice to get a break from the assertion that he's totally Heterosexual solely because he has expressed attraction to women. Because, y'know, bisexuality doesn't exist -

Adding to this with photos posted by the restaurant (some of the pics are taken without permission but I'm hoping these were asked to be posted) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2B5BaCIdEm/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link (I actually wondered if you were asking about him because I had the same thought lol) Not that it means anything but they also went to a David Hockney exhibit together ^^ -

^ I will say I didn't know this, and if they had a bigger hand in coming up with the concept/choreo that does change my perspective a bit And I don't have a problem with it either necessarily, I was just curious whether others felt differently since it came out (no pun intended) -

I'm not going to compare the performance to the criticism girl groups receive (although things like Monster... the concept was based off of Carmilla, which is a textually gay story so it didn't bother me?) but I'm saying I'm surprised this thread seems to be so warm to it. I agree that it's great that performances like this can be shown on tv but I just don't find it as sincere as say, the choreographed dance that Ten and WinWin did. OnlyOneOf is kind of a flop bg so I suppose I'm being cynical and saying this kind of thing is probably more to spark discussion/controversy than express real repressed gay longing. Idk it just comes off as very awkward to me But not everyone will agree and that's okay (Edit: looking through the responses to the tweet I linked there seem to be quite a few reactions of "this is so hot" so maybe I'm not finding it appealing in part bc I'm not very into men) -

Kind of OT I'll agree that Namjoon for sure and probably Tae and JK have been bulking up more but Jimin... is still very, very skinny. Like I'm probably overstepping my bounds but imo concerningly so. He still has muscle definition but probably as a residual from dancing and not because he's trying to cultivate it, in fact it seems like the opposite. I'll try to find a source but I remember him saying a couple months ago (around Dynamite's release?) he was trying to lose weight everywhere but his ass lmao. It's hard to say whether groups like BTS have been 'toning down the androgyny' in the US bc they haven't really been there? Unless we mean the styling for interviews which I can kind of see but I personally haven't noticed much of a difference -
Thanks for making this thread, unfortunate people are already being salty in the reactions

Yoongi implied he had an eating disorder in his lyrics of The Last. This is like when people attacked him for saying "I have ADHD" when he...... literally has ADHD -

This was intentionally brought up by a group of trolls who coordinated through a gc to spread bad info on BTS leading up to the Grammys. OP of the original tweet used the r word as a slur themself and deleted the post when they got called out. This was always about fanwars. This will sound hypocritical considering my username and icon, but this is not what kpop twitter made it out to be. I am not afraid to hold Namjoon accountable for things he has done wrong in the past, which he himself has admitted, but the representation of Skool Luv Affair as somehow being about rape is completely rediculous. As for the word 'retard,' it has multiple meanings and he did NOT use it as a slur. Copying from Merriam-Webster, the definition of "retard": Definition of retard (Entry 1 of 2) transitive verb : to delay or impede the development or progress of : to slow up especially by preventing or hindering advance or accomplishmentchemicals to retard the spread of fire intransitive verb : to become delayed : to undergo retardation Yes, the noun form is an insult, but if you read the context of the lyrics that's not how he was using it. It's not even pronounced the same way. Yes, there were other words he could have used. But English is not his first language and it's unreasonable to expect him to know that the noun form of a verb that was once part of normal use (my dad uses it for example) has connotation as an insult. It's okay to be uncomfortable with its use, but this was never brought up due to actual concern for the neurodivergent community. It was anti-fans creating issues where there are none to cause discord and harm BTS' reputation in the lead-up to the Grammys. -

Yeah I was kind of confused about that too because it's not like I was making it up, in the clip from Idol era he explicitly talks about how he finds waacking performers impressive Maybe it's because I used the term 'slut drop' which is also the actual name of a dance move so Idk I just don't think you can pull the "oh he doesn't know what it means" card in any given situation. As a lover of dance it's perfectly reasonable for him to do research and be aware of its background in ballroom culture. That doesn't mean he's gay himself necessarily but it shows an appreciation for the community? -

I'm sure it's been mentioned in this thread but bringing back Jhope waacking And in EGO choreography And I'm assuming the 'ho moments' you're referring to are Hobi, Jimin, and Tae(?) slut dropping lol -

Almost totally agree, except I think there's a not insignificant possibility Namjoon is bi with a female preference but that may be influenced by wishful thinking on my part. I'm sort of in the minority for thinking JK is straight as well, but I don't have any hard reasons aside from never getting that vibe from him (and plenty of others have so idk.) The only receipts that come to mind: - the members saying he would be the first to get married - Namjoon saying JK is his sister's bias, and when asked whether he would introduce her to him he said "no" And there are the photos from years back of female staff sitting on his lap(?) and rumors of him being a big flirt, but who knows whether those hold any weight. *also agree with the above reasons we may not see much of him interacting with women - he is arguably kpop's most eligible bachelor and considering how quick obsessive fans were to try to ruin his female friend's life, I can understand his reticence to appear even slightly interested in someone who is not his bandmate -

Oof okay I know this post wasn't in response to me and if you think JM isn't gay that's fine I'm not trying to change your mind but... 1. Yeah, he was definitely acting for that video, because he was playing a character for muster, not even Park Jimin the Idol. As we've well addressed, Big Hit is certainly no stranger to fanservice, and JK and Jimin are especially popular for this. And the reason shippers went crazy is because he/the scenario was feeding them (which is pretty goofy in itself bc like... he looked at him a lil sultry? Omg jikook real). This may or may not be what you're implying, but I HATE when people say "you think x is gay because you want your ship to be real" because while this is certainly the case for some straight shippers, I would never use fanservice or even interactions between the members really as "evidence" because at the end of the day, they're coworkers. It's part of their job, so of course they're playing a character. 2. Having dated girls in the past doesn't disprove the possibility of someone exclusively being attracted to the same sex. I knew more gay guys with girlfriends in high school than those without, and I went to a performing arts school. And referring to the Paris incident, he was there with a male friend and happened to meet a group of girls, one of whom spoke Korean, hence why they danced together. And a man hanging out primarily with women doesn't actually bolster the argument of them being heterosexual, to be honest. Once again, I understand that idols have personas and they play up roles for the camera. But seriously, what else are we supposed to go off of when that's all that we see?
