  1. Nah he doesn't look like Doyoung at all. He looks like Yuta+Johnny instead.
  2. Well it was a comment regarding the vocals?
  3. Heard that Step Back song. The AESPA girls added nothing and tbh they should have sent Ningning and Giselle instead. Too whiny overall but Giselle is an interesting rapper.
  4. I have seen people having hollow cheeks naturally and then there are people whose cheeks become hollow after losing weight.
  5. SPECULATION SO TAKE IT WITH A BUCKET OF SALTED PEANUTS: Did anybody else have hard time id-ing Yuta, Taeil and Haechan? It is good they mostly have different hairstyles and because I have occasional propagnasia but something really feels off about all the three. Like, I really feel the weird need of id-ing them as one member but I never had this issue with Winwin and he left group way back. And frankly, after watching Fire Truck the only song with the OG lineup I really have a crazy theory (sorry it is a bit long and would sound weird) One thing that I noticed about Yuta is that there has been an attempt of giving him an entirely new face. He was very good looking before, but I don't think he would have grown up to look like like he do now. This is also perhaps the reason he uses so much makeup and editing? I have seen his no makeup face without much editing, you can see how much alterations and scars his face have and I'm not sure if they are trying to make him look Korean rather something else. That said, I have recently discovered another idol who kinda looks like him- Chan from TO1 and he was also SM trainee who was supposedly up for NCT. And then there is Sungchan who also got the same face "transplant". Now, I am not sure if they are trying to recreate Jaejoong because Taeyong is already pushed as the one and Sungchan is perhaps pushed to be his replacement- but I don't think they tried to give Yuta Jaejoong's face. That said, Winwin also resembles Changmin from TVXQ and much more faithfully than Jaejoong-Taeyong. If I am not wrong, according to OG lineup Taeil-Haechan-Yuta was supposed to be the vocalists. Interestingly, another thing that I have noticed is Taeil and Haechan apart from looking somewhat similar to untrained eyes also has been pushed to be somewhat conforming to the same standards Yuta is also held. All the three has been the ones who cross-dressed as girls in various times and the skits they have been part of also pushes the same standards. Infact I would also say SM stylists have started giving Haechan occasionally a styling that makes him look very similar to Yuta. And based on past videos, I have also seen that styling being pushed on Taeil as well. Now, I have sometimes wondered who is the #3 of NCT. Not Ten because he seems to be meant for some other unit different from 127 and Jaehyun also seems to have a different niche. Also not the Dream guys since they also seem to be part of other plans. From what I have observed, that position seems to be from someone 127 and seems to be rotational between Taeil, Yuta, Doyoung and Haechan. (Yuta was the one who climbed other people's backs in Black on Black) Doyoung wasn't supposed to be part of 127 but then they suddenly added him. Taeil, Haechan and Yuta look very similar (the former two even more so naturally and all 3 seems to be pushed to look the same) and ironically, I think Doyoung also tries to fit that standard nowadays all of a sudden. Now, going by what I heard about 127 and NCT on whole back then, they were supposed to be a more YG inspired group with SM standards. And BIG BANG is known for having two star contrasting rappers and one vocalist with specific sexualised styling who also has a signature role whose dance moves include hip thrusts and grinding. Jimin from BTS is also of this category but while he and Taeyang are way more recognised, I distinctly remember Xiah Junsu being one of the first guys to be in this position (Main vocalist, lead dancer, variety). So my theory is : 1) NCT127 was meant as a 5 member group whose members are chosen on the basis of the visuals and is a recreation of TVXQ targeted towards the crowd which likes a more rap based grunge stuff .A lot of stuff NCT do are also saccharine recreation of BIGBANG variety stuff and BTS also became popular by the same way aka copying BIGBANG with their own twist and guess what? BTS also is allegedly inspired from BIG BANG and they also have 7 members(also BAP and GOT7 who have 7 members). Interestingly, as much as these groups have their star vocalists- they could never find their Taeyang.(This is also perhaps the reason they have 7 members instead of 5- though they have much better visuals) 2) Yuta-Taeil-Haechan is replacement for the main vocalist of the OG planned group who is a placeholder of Junsu with a very specific visuals and then they added Doyoung not because the Chinese unit got cancelled, but because his voice is the closest to what they want musically from this member. This member from what I see atleast based on stuff I have seen from 127 is apart from the very specific visuals, is also supposed to be the flower boy and cross-dresser who is shipped with all other members and generally seen in a more feminine light. (Yuta has ships with all the other members of OG NCT127)He is also the one who is pushed to be in charge of the sexualised choreography (I think they eventually shifted some of these responsibilities to Taeyong but I have also seen Yuta and Haechan more so the later doing this aspect but less) and is someone who is involved in a very slapstick comedy style of variety which includes constant cross-dressing(?). I would say this member is also meant to be little bit younger than Taeyong from atleast some of the stuff I have seen from varieties (this is also the reason why they mostly exclude Taeil from the equation? he is oldest and older than Taeyong but Fire Truck era scripting has a style which makes me think Taeyong was supposed to be the oldest member of the group which is why he is the leader) 3) Now question is who is the idol the hypothetical NCT member is based on? Interestingly, around the time NCT first being fully formalised, NUEST and Seventeen was becoming popular and they have Ren and Jeonghan, who especially the latter seems very close to the archetype I am talking about. Infact, visually if you see- the resultant visuals pushed on Yuta in particular and the others on whole is also similar to Ren and Jeonghan. 4) NCT also doesn't have any star vocalist and/or the flower boy and its heavily based on Taeyong and Mark but I don't think it was originally the plan. Rather, they could never find the specific person they wanted to be the other anchor of the group. 5) Interestingly, apart from Ren and Jeonghan- another idol Taeil-Haechan-Yuta is resembles heavily (and at this point I think the resemblance, more so for Yuta is artificial) is Jeongyeon. I used to think they all look like Jeongyeon (that is why I started to follow the 3) but then I realised that the resemblance is more made-up than it is actually and more so for Yuta. Infact I would say the Korean guys Taeil and Haechan looks more similar to her especially Taeil. 6) Given that 127 was supposed to be a fangirl wet dream, I have theorised the hypothetical main vocalist is also inspired from a pre-existing idol who used to be super big around the same time Jaejoong and TVXQ became big. 7) Here comes the speculation part. I think Jeongyeon has heavy similarities with J-pop idol Jin Akanishi and it is also apparent from their childhood photos. Interestingly Taeil Haechan Yuta especially Taeil has similarities with him KAT-TUN used to be huge in the early 2000s and their rise and accomplishments were pretty extraordinary and influential. They held concerts before debut and was slated to be big but eventually got halted because of Jin's stupidity and narcissism. He also left the group around 2010 and thus they couldn't be bigger. I remember seeing KATTUN vs TVXQ, Hero vs Jin threads in multiple East Asian entertainment fandoms (back then Hallyu wasn't that big people used to follow Japan and Korean entertainments more together) around 2007/08 (that's when I got into this stuff) 9) Jin also has also the exact same qualities you see SM trying to assign their hypothetical member- high pitched voice with stylised singing, sexualised dancing and behaviour in general, variety skills, cross-dressing apart from the visuals. He definitely seems to be the good-looking/SM (who is obviously very inspired from Johnny's) version of Taeyang and Jimin. So conclusion : NCT127 was supposed to be a more BIGBANG inspired revitalisation of TVXQ targeted at both new fans and older fans which was supposed to have somebody extremely similar to Jin Akanishi as the Star Vocalist of the group. I think SM had figured out Jaejoong is popular because of his visuals and hardcore kpop fans seem to like rappers and dancers more so Taeyong was an appropriate fit. I think depending on songs, this member would also have been the only one who would have vocal lines(perhaps intricate ones given SM's history?). NCT127 initial lineup was chosen more on the basis of visuals and I genuinely think they wanted all korean members but couldn't though I think they would have pushed this hypothetical member into learning Japanese culture even more vigorously. (Pledis promoted both Ren and Jeonghan in Japan more heavily and they are both Koreans) Funny, Jeongyeon got into SM around 2009/10 but she refused the offer and she is the one who fits the visual standards the most. PS: I think this is the real reason SM and kpop in general is trying to shift to AI.
  6. I don't see any resemblance between Jaejoong and Sungchan apart from makeup and editing. Takuya Kimura is the most prominent example but generally loads of them. Also Takeru Sato and Aiba Masaki who comes to my mind. Generally a huge chunk of them. Korean men even Chinese men age better. Though I personally think the fillers are aging him even more.
  7. Jaejoong had strong jawline but he did have a more V-shaped face from front. You are talking about the SM museum photo with blue background? He doesn't really look like him, but if I was SM I would have picked him to be Jaejoong 2.0 over Taeyong because his face template is much more flexible. About Yuta, I think he is pushing himself more on the lines of visual kei artistes and anime male characters in general. I think his target is to look like anime character irl and would also say he's trying to prevent aging? Most Japanese men I know aged horribly.
  8. Nah Sungchan doesn't resemble Jaejoong at all. I think Yuta also looked like Jaejoong. Also I think Doyoung has the potential to look like him among the existing SM artistes.
  9. I wonder if this has been discussed here, but The idols who kinda resemble(d) Jaejoong the closest are Minho Shinee and Mingyu Seventeen. Among girls, I do think Ahn Yujin resembles him too apart from Hyuna. Now I am not sure how much of this is intentional plastic surgery or just good find.
  10. IVE And EXO height comparison. Chosen because of similar camera angles. You decide 3? She keeps touching her nose.
  11. Thoughts on Pentagon Jinho? One of my favourite vocalists and anticipated idols
  12. Yangyang is the same height as Haechan. I remember seeing a photo of them together.
  13. Haechan was that short during his Rookie days and Johnny is slouching in that photo but yeah I think he is more like 5'6". I wonder what's Taeyong's height though. He doesn't seem to be 174/5 to me.
  14. officially johnny is 184 and sungchan is 185. Looks about right. also, the rumour in the market is Ten is 165 and Haechan was reported to be 164 a while back. Another poster also measured him as 171 from barefoot photos.
  15. They talk about that dehydration thing because it is more easier and safer for young fans to understand. Anybody who has remotely stepped inside a gym and/or has connections in the entertainment industry know about the PED abuse that goes on and with Kpop already suffering from EDs, time for PEDs to come.
  16. Mama photos were edited so he will look uncanny. About roids, I would say given the workload he is in and the fact that he didn't have prominent abs even a month earlier and doesn't also seem to have body structure to support it, roids are likely.
  17. Going by the concert photos, I think he might be on steroids as well.
  18. Yuta has some baby photos that shows how he looks. I don't he looks much different tbh- maybe a bit less anime-y. Funny because I don't think he ever looked like Taemin lol. He looked very handsome in a masculine way.
  19. https://www.instagram.com/p/BL5xReaBoU0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link I wonder if she changed her nose or not.
  20. I wonder what is Itzy's and Aespa's heights. I used to believe their height but now I think they are likely shorter.
  21. She's 169-170. She has the same proportions I remember Sooyoung having and she's supposedly even shorter at 166. Imo, Yujin is around 167/168 cm tbh now that I see. I would say the rest of the members are around 163-166. I think Yujin and Wonyoung was somewhat believable since audience knows they are very tall relative to Izone but Starship did a huge mistake by assigning gigantic impossible heights to the rest of the members though it was the Japanese member that made me think. (This also means a whole lot of Izone is in 150s)
  22. Wow, same experience! I used to initially think that it was because of my self-perception as the idols I stanned were older than me by nearly decade or so and as somebody who had been insecure about her size because I felt childish and small- but IVE in particular made me think. I mentioned camera angle because that can be factor but as somebody who has been dedicated to estimation of sizes on screen for a while now, kpop standards pretty much are the same across board and timeline. In real life, even shorter people in their 150s especially women tend to look BIG (again depends on face type and body proportions) and a lot of people whose heights would be considered chibi in kpop world would be seen as giants. Frankly, I always considered 160+ must rule in kpop official heights as something absurd because a lot of the girls looked way shorter than what I would expect from irl correlations and I always considered harmful because of how they affect one's self-perception. Nine Muses were also supposed to be really tall and it was possible to believe their profile height of 170+. IVE girls looked chibi though it was Rei who made me think because 169 looked absurd on her. I think subconsciously I do think Japanese girls are shorter or something. But....
