  1. btw i found a song alignment chart for their non title tracks on instiz???probably been posted here before i think its really cool to see songs mapped out like this. lately I feel like a alot of kpop groups struggle to find a signature sound while maintaining a variety of interesting sounds but imo they really stick to their refreshing/youthful concept well but it doesn't get boring

in case anyone is wondering, up is refreshing, right is faint/weak, down is dark, and left is energetic/exciting.

personally speaking I'm a fan of the upper left quandrant. Hello, Thinking About You, Rocket, Change Up ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

  2. I'll have to come out and say woah DK! boy vocally carried this whole performance and then some! he sang his parts perfectly and every other little thing here and there that they don't usually sing live and he sounded splendid throughout all of it!

He did the same for the asia song festival performance and he was amazing!

I was shook that almost everyone was lip sycing during Korean Drama Awards (even Vernon lipping ha rap lines which I thought was weird), but Mingyu was singing live the entire time.. Legend M truly blessing us with consistency since 1997.

  3. did you get any merch? lots of them were sold out right? i want those clear folders so badrlytearpls.png

    also mingriah hurrplz.png hurrplz.png

I was running late bc of train issues so everything good was sold out.. smh.. but can buy on Mercari or other apps

I’m so curious about their actual height in real life !!! Did they look really small?

Sent from my iPhone using OneHallyu mobile app

most celebrities I've seen in real life look smaller (the camera makes people seem bigger IMO). I saw Jonghyun (RIP), Onew and Key at Gimpo last year and I was shook by how tiny they were.

as for Seventeen, Hoshi seems smaller in person in particular. Wonwoo looks even skinnier in person and his head is kinda bigger than in pictures, also Minghao seems taller to me. Mingyu still looks like a giant.

  4. I just got back from the last night at Saitama Super Arena and the boys were amazing as always ahmagahplz.png

if anyone cares I wrote random thoughts:

    • I was in the 2nd row (paid way too much for the tickets) so I was ridiculously close to them -- I could literally spit my gum onto the stage. when they came over to my side I was probably 12 feet away from them, it was the closest I ever been
    • Woozi was lip syncing throughout most of the concert
    • Wonwoo has hairy hands
    • Woozi's new haircut suits him so much, also he was sweating SO hard, even more than Hoshi
    • Mingyu gay-sneezed twice (if u have seen him sneeze u know how he daintily holds his hand in front of his mouth lmao) while they had a closeup of him which made everyone laugh
    • the stylists/makeup people need to STOP with whatever they're doing to Joshua -- his foundation is the thickest of all the members, and that combined with the heavy eyeliner, color contacts and his hair color made him look like a woman. he deserves BETTER.
    • top 3 best songs of the night - CALL CALL CALL! (it's so much better live, the energy is amazing), Rocket (shocker really love the choreography), Swimming Fool (still a bop and it's probably the most fun to watch because all 4 performance members are so good on stage)
    • they ROCKED OUT during Run to You -- it seems like that was the song they all enjoyed performing the most. Woozi was jamming in the back. Wonwoo was right next to me and I could see him mouthing everything and really getting into it. same with Jun and Jeonghan.
    • the video segments have gotten longer and are honestly unnecessary, as are the 2-3 minute monologues at the end for every single member. cut out half of that and give us MORE SONGS.
    • frankly speaking I think this was the most disappointing set list of the 5 concerts of theirs I've been to. there was no Mansae, Boom Boom, Clap or Don't Wanna Cry and yet they had time for way less popular songs... Un Haeng Il Chi? Sukyeo? Pinwheel? Love Letter/Healing/20? <---honestly we only need one of those songs...
    • songs I was so happy to hear -> Thinkin About You (but can we get REAL choreography and not make this the goofy act song?), Beautiful, Hello (Mingriah was serving amazing vocals)
    • everyone sounded REALLY good tonight, I was shook
    • they all look much smaller in person than in video/photos

  5.

    Kevin from the boyz

love this. I mean he was already confirmed to be a gay king when he went to a Katy Perry concert and started screaming about Mother Monster and saying how kids were staring at him or something while he was dancing but but "mama has to get her twerk on" or whatever.

add another receipt to the pile!

  6. Question.

Does everyone here speculate so hard because they're trying to live vicariously through the people they're speculating about?

sweetie. do you know what the phrase "to live vicariously" even means?

why would we be living vicariously through closeted people? like anyone here fantasizes about living as a closeted idol in an industry that is openly hostile to LGBT people?

  7. Wow that’s quite interesting. Is Osaka dialect so different that even the grammar is not the same? Also, are international schools common in Japan? Would they speak English there? Yuta’s English isn’t that good tho.

Kansai (Osaka) dialect has grammatical differences, but the grammar issues I'm talking about with him are grammar mistakes that make him sound like a foreigner.

mostly though it's his accent. sorry to keep dragging this topic on but I'm super interested, as a multi-cultural Japanese person myself.

  8. Yuta's is Japanese his dad and mom are Japanese. :derp:

And I don't think the way he speaks will affect their promotions there.

I don't think it'll affect their promotions either. however, as a Japanese person, I think people are going to be confused as to why his Japanese sounds like a foreigner. it's not that he speaks a dialect -- Osaka dialect is the most famous dialect in Japan and it's on TV all the time (most comedians use it in Japan).

his grammar is flat out wrong at times (mistakes native speakers would never make) and his Korean accent is very very thick. which is why I have a hard time believing he was born and raised in Japan.

  9. Yuta's from osaka and himself said that he didn't speak the standard japanese he spoke a dialect from there and has been learning the standard japanese. That's why you can hear an accent when he speaks.

it's not a Kansai accent (I'm from near Osaka so I'm familiar with what a Kansai accent sounds like).

he speaks like he wasn't raised in Japan and if he were in Japan he would be assumed to be a foreginer. curious if he went to some kind of international school or something.

  10. Hello yuta left Japan in 2012 at the same year he did global audition and my Japanese friend told me so many times that yuta accent is very strong so his Japanese looks like foreigner speak Japan

thanks for confirming this -- I am a bit confused on how his Japanese became like that so quickly. someone who left Japan at age 17 would not normally start speaking in broken Japanese so I wonder if he lived somewhere else when he was growing up.

  11. quick question on Yuta -- I am Japanese and I recently checked out a few videos of Yuta speaking Japanese.

it's pretty clear to any native Japanese speaker that he has a strong accent (it's hard to place exactly where it's from). his grammar is also strange sometimes in the clips I've seen. frankly there are members of DBSK with better Japanese than him.

does anyone know when he left Japan or where he has lived? I'm curious because the only thing I've been able to find is that he was born in Osaka.

not criticizing him, as I am a person with a mixed-culture background too. anyways thanks, guys!

  12. Ph - before I froget it, I have one more question for you, which one of the boys came of the most charismatic on stage in your opinion? Like, for me, Hoshi is the one who always stands out a lot during fancams, but I've heard a lot of people mention that Wonwoo  has a good presence when you see him live - which I always considered kind of odd and funny for some reason ;T

    The8, surprisingly.

  13. What was your experience with the japanese fans like? Did you have any trouble getting seated or with pushing or other aggressive behavior during the concert?

Also ----- now that we're on the topic of height, how tall do the boys look in real life? Is the8 really that skinny? What about Jeonghan and Joshua, or Scoups (he looks rather tired and pale these past few months).

Was there some part of the concert that really cought you off-guard? Like...I don't know, something you just didn't expect.

I have lived in Japan for over half my life so I'm used to Japanese people. they're super polite. no pushing at all -- even if people wanted to it wouldn't be possible because the way Japanese concert halls or literally anywhere has designated lines and are super strict. I've also been to MANY concerts here in Tokyo before (like ones without assigned seating) and it's never an issue.

I've seen the boys every time they've come here (4 times total) and I must say there are some key things I noticed over the years of seeing them:

    • Wonwoo is scary skinny. The8 is skinny too but Wonwoo is another level. I'm used to skinny people in Japan but if I saw someone Wonwoo's size on the train or somewhere I'd definitely stare. I was a bit too far away this time but last time I was in the floor seats right next to the stage and it was distracting.
    • Mingyu is handsome as hell in real life and his face is SO SMALL.
    • Vernon looks to be about 176 or 177
    • Dino looked taller than usual this time to me for some reason
    • Jeonghan looks even more feminine in person
    • The8 is the most impressive dancer in-person (I used to think it was Hoshi).
    • All of the boys have quite stable vocals live except Coups and as I mentioned before it's distracting how off he is (he's not really trying cuz he's doing the whole talk-sing thing)
    • Joshua, Jeonghan and S Coups all look the same to me in terms of height
    • The thing I didn't expect was the amount of fan service last night --- sooooo much hugging, jumping on each other, holding each other... it was much different than what I had seen before!

EDIT: Sorry I remembered one other thing:

there were WAY more male fans this time, I was shocked. in front of me was 2 guys from Korea who were there together, and I saw a few other groups of male K-Carats. actually a chunk of the audience was from Korea, I'd say about 5-10%. there were also some J-Carats who were guys too, mostly high school student looking guys.

  14. I just got back from the Yokohama Arena concert... totally random but some thoughts:

    • I am now convinced that Minghao's mullet is a clip-on or something, it looked like it was hanging off the back of his head and about to fall off
    • Mingyu's vocals had me shook throughout the entire night. he sounded amazing during Gidae, Hello and Trauma
    • Everyone's hair was on point except DK's who kind of looked like Ronald McDonald with that red afro he had going on
    • Hoshi is still a legendary MC
    • Woozi corrected Vernon's Japanese and it was the funniest thing ever
    • The boys have gotten MUCH better at Japanese, particularly Mingyu and Seungkwan
    • Gidae was performed in Japanese and became Kite ("come to me") which I thought was cute
    • Minghao's rap breakdown in Jam Jam caught me off guard but I have to say he slayed
    • Pretty U got the most cheers -- I think everyone misses that song/performance the most
    • The stage was dead center so they changed up the direction they faced with each song which was nice
    • I was devastated they didn't do Thinking About You, but super happy for some other album tracks like Swimming Fool
    • Jun and Woozi impressed me the most vocally -- S Coups was wayyyyyyy off pitch throughout the entire night which was kind of jarring
    • Jeonghan got the loudest screams but Dino had a surprising number of fans

  15. im so jealousrlytearpls.png  good luck anyway! also how much does concert ticket cost in Japan, particularly for korean acts?

not sure about other acts but Seventeen's concerts went about 80 USD -> 85-> 85-> 95 this time.

funnily enough the last time when I bought on an auction site I got it for like 3 dollars cheaper than the original price lol.
