  1. Are they? I think it depends on the group and whether they can pull a concept off or not. If I was to pick a female K-Pop group that was consistent with K-Pop fused with western styles it is 2NE1.
  2. I understand the idea behind the name changing but the thought process behind the name "whitening" wasn't racial at all...Not that I am aware of. I like to believe people know the difference between what is deemed as racist and what is not. In order for something to be racist it has to have a root of hate. It is hate that drives racism. The word "white" is not, it is a neutral, like black and gray. When we start avoiding words or phrases, as innocent as they may be, in fear that it depicts another race as inferior or that it has an underlying ill motive shifts away the real conversation of the issues surrounding racism. Whenever we do something in hopes that it will lead to a better world we have to ask ourselves the honest question whether those actions will indeed make a difference in the end. How things affect us in the moment is usually driven by emotion and nothing else but ideologies. I hope that someday we can tackle the real issues and make real differences. What we need are real conversations.
  3. I love that 2NE1 song. I feel that Red Velvet's "One Of These Nights" will go down to be one of the most timeless songs in K-Pop. The MV, both haunting and visually engaging, has also made an impact on me.
  4. I don't know who Shane is but that video is not only disturbing and sick, it's not even remotely funny. It is on another level of W.T.F.
  5. This is an easy one for me. Hands down, I rather have a really engaging and fun teacher who gives a lot of homework. If the class is fun and I'm that engaged I will be much more interested and motivated with learning. A ton of homework doesn't mean a load that I cannot handle and I'll be much more inclined to want to do it in a fun class.
  6. I rather get a ridiculously easy question wrong on a quiz show. It's embarrassing but nothing to lose my shirt over. It doesn't make me any less intelligent. All it proves is that I'm human. Everyone makes blunders. The trick is to roll with it and laugh.
  7. Would I be the most skilled in one thing or in all things? If it's the latter, then life will be simply boring and meaningless. As I will have no competition there will be minimal motivation on my part doing anything knowing that whatever I do will exceed everyone's skills just because. Nah, that's not for me. I like competition and I like doing the work. Win some and lose some I'm OK with as long as I did my best. I don't like to lose either but that's life. I rather be the luckiest person who ever existed. Being that lucky may just save my life...Many times over.
  8. Something doesn't sound right if the mask hurts. I agree with the members above that your mask should be as comfortable as it can be. Just as (and maybe more) important is that the mask should also be properly fit so that your nose and mouth are fully covered. A properly fitted mask should have less passage ways for the droplets to get through. Whatever mask you choose make the experience as positive as possible is what I say.
  9. I think these influencers should be held just as or more accountable. Still, without harsher policies and laws these people will continue doing what they do. On the other hand, if these policies and laws are not enforced it means nothing in the end. The fact that doxxing has been going on for years says a lot.
  10. How true. I have a BIG issue with people leaking private information about other people or organizations. Even if these tweets are removed immediately all it takes is a second for someone to capture it. In a second after it's posted that info is out there forever. The current laws on doxxing are too narrow and does not adequately protect the individuals who are victimized. Things need to change.
  11. It's quite astonishing how much Twitter has changed since it's beginnings to what we see today. It is subtle in the way it consumes people.
  12. Not really. What's easy on paper may not be so easy when said and what is easy to some people may not be easy for others. English is not based on phonetics so even native English speakers have difficulties pronouncing words that should be "easy".
  13. Politics is a personal matter and I think the way a person votes should come down to the messages and actions of the candidates, not by the party lines or endorsements they acquire. If what AOC said was true then those people have interfered and made a mockery of our political process. If those same actions happened against her I pretty much guarantee she would be pissed. Vote on the candidate(s) that you believe in. That's how you make a difference.
  14. ? Let's be careful about spreading rumors. Lee Haeri said that Min Kyung never bullied her. In fact, they are very close like "family".
  15. K-Pop is a business first and foremost. We as fans and consumers of K-Pop should know that better than anyone. Still, it's easy to get caught up in it. I try to keep myself in check and not get too consumed in K-Pop (or any other music genre for that matter). I love the music and I love the shows, but too much of a good thing can turn bad, you know? Life is already stressful as it is and I really don't need to add to that stress. K-Pop is a positive outlet for me and I've been keeping it that way since day 1. Once it becomes a negative and no longer fun, then it's time for me to move on. Thankfully, I have not reached that point.
  16. Um, so which is it? "Sometimes" or "Most of the time"? Any discussion is dangerous when almost immediately the word "racists" is used. It stops all conversations and stops people from moving forward. Don't lump everyone the same way either. If someone says "All lives matter", take it for what it is. That person may genuinely mean it. BTW, calling people "Uncle Toms" is also another way to escape the real conversation on racial-based topics. Yes, there are people who say things to pander to a certain crowd, but so is using "BLM" to a certain crowd. It goes both ways. Topics on race is already sensitive as it is and people are too afraid to speak what's really on their minds while walking on egg shells. It shouldn't be that way...Not in 2020. To have a real conversation is to cut out the BS. We really can do better in this world...All of us can. But it all starts with individual thoughts, a bit of guts, and a ton of honesty.
  17. I don' t know if the OP's question is sincere or not. However, it does raise an interesting thought on something current and growing right now in America: The movement to defund or abolish the police. This movement is happening right in front of our eyes and it is anything but silent. Can anyone guess what will happen if these people have their way? BTW, what happened to St. Louis (retired) Officer Capt. David Dorn was outrageous and depressing. These kind of senseless and violent actions should never, NEVER happen...EVER! It's heart-breaking to see not much coverage of it.
  18. Uh, just because a person is black doesn't mean he/she has it right nor just because a person is a different color mean he/she has it wrong. Speak freely. Conversations are a good thing.
  19. Earlier, a post was published on the show’s viewer bulletin board with the title, “We apologize for grabbing LOONA member Chuu’s hair.” However, suspicions regarding the authenticity of the post arose because it was uploaded by an anonymous user through a regular post rather than by a staff member through an official announcement. MBC later confirmed that the post had been made by an impostor and deleted the post. Source (1) (2) Soompi
