It would be fascinating to watch something being built from the ground up.

Unless it is shared by an overwhelmingly consensus there will be a divide on what is and what isn't cultural appropriation. It is a moving target because what someone views as cultural appropriation may not be viewed the same way to the next person, even if they share the same race and culture. Whatever the case may be and before passing down judgement, please ask yourself some questions: What was the intent and context? Was it to mock? Was it to put down? Was it to inspire or be inspired from? Was it to appreciate? Etc. Like someone said before me this kind of conversation is complicated and it really is. Still, and as uncomfortable it can be, having the conversation is a good thing.

It raised my eyebrows Given the benefit of the doubt, I assume that the members and managers went their to talk things out. However, as noted, when a group shows up unannounced it could be perceived differently on the receiving end. It sets a tone of confrontation and aggression like a posse ganging up on someone instead of a neutral and chill environment. It is a disadvantage for the recipient whatever the intentions were. Emotions are already running high as is. I don't know what's going on. All I know is that it sounds like a mess.

It will take more than the current situation to spark a change in behavior. As we know right now, the elderly, obese people, or people with medical conditions (like diabetes or organ illnesses) are most vulnerable. If COVID-19 turns and younger people from the 20's and down start becoming vulnerable to the virus we may see more people wearing masks as a norm. As I say "vulnerable" I mean leading to serious illnesses or deaths. On a different note, the U.S. loves their fashion and loves trendy things. If masks became "cool" fashion accessories who knows. Only time shall tell.

Personally I think if Michael Jackson was alive today he would still be the indisputable greatest and most recognized artist in the world. He's in a different ranking all together. Prince, who was an all-around artist/musician/producer/writer/etc., was a genius as well. As for the ranking I share your preferences with one change: Janet Mariah Whitney Madonna
