i'm bored. I need to start working on the AOTW thread but i need to wait for a package for my brother. I can't listen to music or watch dramas because i can't use earphones  :._.:

nini sometimes looks like an asian audrey hepburn imo

  2. Journey to the West adaptions or inspired things will never end. It's too big. It's why i'm interested in reading the book but it's so long and i don't have anything to read it on because i don't want to read it on the computer.

It's the eyes. She does remind me of Shu Qi (who i have an obsession with and was my first asian celebrity crush along with Zhao Wei) though. But i don't think Shu Qi is very photogenic or i don't think her photoshoots really shows how gorgeous she is. Ni Ni on the other hand has really good photoshoots.

Too bad the movie/drama she's known mostly for Flowers of War and i refuse to watch that movie...

Still she's my current obsession. Gao Yuanyuan is really pretty also.

i agree, i like gao yuan yuan as well

    nini is really photogenic

  3. oh it does look a lot better. This trailer actually has me interested unlike the first one.

Are we going to get some cool shield fighting formations?!? Those scenes were cool in Red Cliff and Curse of the Golden Flower. So i hope so.

Does anybody know if Dragon Gate is any good? Dx264 put up the drama recently and it sounds kinda interesting.

    another monkey king remake?

    nini looks pretty unique imo

  4. i would recommend listening to Kary Ng's My January album. The deluxe version with the added songs.

you could also check out Mag Lam, Ivana Wong, Jinny Ng, and of course Joey Yung too.

    thanks lightning and hemlock

haha i listen to 1% female singers...

will check out the ones you listed

currently only listening to ken hung, really like it

    canto ballads

  5. i thought about trying thai music but i think 5 languages is already too much for me to handle. Adding another one would drown me.

try different genres. If you're tired of pop then listening to pop in a different language isn't going to make much difference. Laure isn't for everybody, i can understand that.

    good idea

    thanks!

    5 languages??

  6. yea taiwan dramas are like the middle ground between kdramas and jdramas. Sometimes it's fun and sometimes it's just cheesy and bad. Stereotypes in kdramas are just as bad if not worse. All dramas from all countries have their stereotypes, even american shows.

I've never seen a modern mainland drama and i've stated my hatred of dubbing enough times but i will say that it makes the acting appear worse than it actually might be, but i can't tell.

Well unless you don't like the sound of the language i don't see how you can't find anything you like since it's so big and diverse, but that's fine i will enjoy it enough for everybody

    :ahmagah:

i picky with things in general

    i think thats it

china did a remake of joe chen's princess and frog (with mingdao) it was ok imo

    no idea

    just don't like it

ive also tried to listen to thai songs, also didnt like

even laure shang, she's chinese, but i cannot see the appeal of her music

  7. lol. I think i've had this convo with Sookie before. But kpop and kdramas do not have enough diversity. I was really into kpop and watched only kdramas for a while. I was in that phase just like everyone else. But after ~2 years i got tired of it. It seems like a lot of people my age have gotten over the whole korean wave thing.

    quick rant:
The music is too samey. Groups are too similar and none of them are anything special or do anything to set themselves apart from the others. The so called "concepts" is just them not having any true musical identity. The dramas are the same things over and over with different faces. I think they also got recognition and fans because of their brand of melodrama which ruined the overall quality of kdramas. Don't get me wrong, they are masters at melodrama and i enjoy it but it's like they feel every drama needs to be melodramatic and it's annoying.
I know i've tried to get you into jpop before but i don't know how much you've looked into it. Japanese music and jdramas are way more diverse than korean ones. So I recommend looking into them more or giving it a second chance.

Or if you want to talk western stuff, i'm watching Luther and it's been pretty good so far.

i used to watch taiwan shows

and tbh they are worse than korean ones

first off the taiwan dialect is in every show

    even kdramas don't do that

then all the girls play a stereotypical character, the country bumpkin meets rich guy

mainland shows are mediocre in acting imo, esp the modern day kind

yes kpop does sound the same nowadays

i tried to get into japanese music, besides stuff by tvxq, i haven't found stuff i like

  8. i'm kind of the same except i do find dramas that interest me but i lose interest really fast now and can't finish any of them.

Try watching kdramas or jdramas instead. Or some western shows. I usually watch western shows when i'm in a drama slump.

yea i think im bored of asian stuff

ive been in a kpop phase for 3 yrs

it looks like im finally over it

  9. well it's not just a medical show. It's more like a show about the lives of those people who work in the hospital. So there is drama, relationships, and romances and stuff. But yea i probably won't ever watch it.

I do like watching House. But that's more like a medical mystery show than just a medical one.

i think im getting drama withdrawal

dont find anything worth watching anymore

  10. its a TVB series.

it seems pretty popular and i thought about trying it but it looks like a HK Grey's Anatomy. There's nothing wrong with Grey's Anatomy, i watch it from time to time and enjoy it, but i don't like it enough to go out of my way to watch something similar in a different language.

    gotcha

    i don't like medical shows
