  1. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/feb/20/us-threat-canada-super-pig-boar ‘Incredibly intelligent, highly elusive’: US faces new threat from Canadian ‘super pig’ For decades, wild pigs have been antagonizing flora and fauna in the US: gobbling up crops, spreading disease and even killing deer and elk. Now, as fears over the potential of the pig impact in the US grow, North America is also facing a new swine-related threat, as a Canadian “super pig”, a giant, “incredibly intelligent, highly elusive” beast capable of surviving cold climates by tunneling under snow, is poised to infiltrate the north of the country. The emergence of the so-called super pig, a result of cross-breeding domestic pigs with wild boars, only adds to the problems the US faces from the swine invasion. “They lived a benign existence up until, you know, probably three or four decades ago, where we started seeing these rapid excursions in areas we hadn’t seen before,” Marlow said. “They’re incredibly intelligent. They’re highly elusive, and also when there’s any pressure on them, especially if people start hunting them, they become almost completely nocturnal, and they become very elusive – hiding in heavy forest cover, and they disappear into wetlands and they can be very hard to locate.” Brook and others are particularly troubled by the emergence of a “super pig”, created by farmers cross-breeding wild boar and domestic pigs in the 1980s. The result was a larger swine, which produced more meat, and was easier for people to shoot in Canadian hunting reserves. These pigs escaped captivity and swiftly spread across Canada, with the super pig proving to be an incredibly proficient breeder, Brook said, while its giant size – one pig has been clocked at more than 300kg (661lbs) – makes it able to survive the frigid western Canada winters, where the wind chill can be -50C. “All the experts said at that time: ‘Well, no worries. If a wild pig or a wild boar ever escaped from a farm, there’s no way it would survive a western Canadian winter. It would just freeze to death.’ “Well, it turns out that being big is a huge advantage to surviving in the cold.” The pigs survive extreme weather by tunneling up to 2 meters under snow, Brook said, creating a snow cave. “They’ll use their razor-sharp tusks to cut down cattails [a native plant], and line the bottom of the cave with cattails as a nice warm insulating layer. “And in fact, they’re so warm inside that one of the ways we use to find these pigs is to fly first thing in the morning when it’s really cold, colder than -30, and you will actually see steam just pouring out the top of the snow.” One method that has worked in the US, Brook said, is the use of a “Judas pig”. A lone pig is captured and fitted with a GPS collar, then released into the wild, where hopefully it will join a group of unsuspecting swine. “The idea is that you go and find that collared animal, remove any pigs that are with it, and in ideal world then let it go again and it will just continue to find more and more pigs,” Brook said. “Probably as late as maybe 2010 to 2012, there was probably a reasonable chance of finding and removing them. But now, they’re so widespread, and so abundant, that certainly as late as 2018 or 19 I stopped saying that eradication was possible. They’re just so established,” Brook said. “They’ve definitely moved in, and they’re here to stay.” - the world thought the next big war was going to be between the US and Russia / China... they let down their guard and ignored the real threat where were you when the super pig attacked?
  2. as a farewell they threw shit to their faces! now is questionable if you should feel nostalgia for watching people being showered in horse poop also is questionable if that is the way to treat people that has performed at Kohaku Uta Gassen but is a call back to their debut song "Hoshi Ga Matataku Yoru Ni" BiSH are going to disband at the Tokyo Dome on June 29 of this year, their final concert has been titled "Bye-Bye Show for Never"
  3. BiSH's final single! the song was produced by Kazuya Yoshii from THE YELLOW MONKEYS, honestly i don't known much about him other that he sang the first OP theme of Dragon Ball Super and BiSH released a documentary film about the production of the single Document of "BiSH / Bye-Bye Show" also BiSH's final concert in the Tokyo Dome is going to have the title "Bye-Bye Show for Never"
  4. tomorrow they are going to release a documentary movie about the production of the single they also unveiled their new (and likely final) uniforms - their disbandment announcement was done in December of 2021 but they aren't going to end things until June 29 of this year, that is more that 1 year and a half! during that time they released over 12 new singles so honestly i can't complaint, this may be the slowest disbandment of all time, originally they took the decision back in 2019 but the pandemic pushed that date away and somehow ended giving us several years more with the group, they got to perform at Kohaku Uta Gassen and are going to perform in the Tokyo Dome so they also accomplished all their goals is sad that BiSH are going to disband in a few months but i accept it
  5. they are so good! honestly they probably are my favorite Jrock debut of 2022 i recommend checking their debut single, i think it's even better! also the members have been holding live streams in their channel, the members read comments and interact with the chat so that's cool, i'm actually surprised by the amount of international fans there
  6. just in the last week we got new PARAMORE and new Linkin Park music, feels like i went back on time to the early 2010s their new album in almost 6 years "This Is Why" just went out, i think i like this one better than After Laughter off topic but Hayley Williams looks pretty good, crazy to think she is 35, if it weren't for the styling she could pass for her Brand New Eyes era self
  7. Chittiii from BiSH! this is going to be her 2nd solo single, a few months ago she debuted as CENT
  8. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2023-02-14/clamp-to-draw-picture-book-about-figure-skater-yuzuru-hanyu/.194877 CLAMP to Draw Picture Book About Figure Skater Yuzuru Hanyu Professional figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu's solo ice show "Gift" revealed on its website on Monday that the manga creator and artist circle CLAMP (Cardcaptor Sakura, xxxHOLiC) will draw a tie-in picture book under the same name. The website added that Hanyu was searching for ways to express his own stories not only through skating but also in the world of picture books. He reportedly asked CLAMP to draw the illustrations, and CLAMP accepted the offer. Hanyu commented: "This time, I have created the story of 'Gift' by envisioning many different things. In my imagination, there is also a picture book story called 'Gift,' and I wanted CLAMP to bring it to life." CLAMP commented: "We were really surprised when we received this consultation. We want to help deliver another 'Gift' conceived by Mr. Hanyu to everyone through this picture book, which is different from the unprecedented 'Gift' performance."
  9. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2023-02-15/ghibli-park-to-install-electric-catbuses-this-year/.194928 Ghibli Park to Install Electric Catbuses This Year One of the biggest attractions at the newly opened Ghibli Park are the Catbus displays of My Neighbor Totoro fame (pictured top-right). But the park isn't content with just creating stationary Catbuses—its next step is to implement electric Catbuses that can transport people around the park in an environmentally friendly way. The Ghibli Park announced at a press conference last Thursday that it plans to install five low-speed electric vehicles dressed up as Catbuses in 2023. The vehicles will be based on an existing Toyota model. Aichi Governor Hideaki Ōmura commented: "When the Catbus vehicles come to fruition, they will add another big appeal to the park."
  10. they announced a new EP "RABBIT STAR ★" btw did anyone else watch this video Netflix released to promote "Wednesday"? honestly not a bad combination, the fact that both are called Wednesday is just a plus the song is "Edison" but everything with their name is pretty fucking good
  11. their debut song "Cookie" is pretty good! they also announced their first concert with MAMESHiBA NO TAiGUN, TONAi BOUSHO were created to be the former's rival group if curious about Richi (the member that left some weeks ago) she announced her debut as a solo talent, she is still going to be under the same company as TONAi BOUSHO
  12. some time ago there was a report of Somalian pirates using the flag of Luffy's mentor "Red Hair" Shanks as theirs is ONE PIECE a bad influence? although i think i rather become a pirate than do a Naruto run in public https://www.abcactionnews.com/news/national/a-person-doing-a-naruto-run-appeared-in-a-reporters-live-shot-at-the-area-51-event
  13. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2023-02-13/luffy-crime-ring-suspects-extradited-to-japan-on-former-one-piece-airplane/.194827 'Luffy' Crime Ring Suspects Extradited to Japan on Former One Piece Airplane Four suspects accused of orchestrating a string of burglaries in at least 14 prefectures in Japan since last year were extradited from the Philippines to Japan last week. At least one of the suspects has been using the alias "Luffy" when organizing the crimes, an apparent reference the aspiring Pirate King protagonist of the One Piece anime and manga series. Coincidentally, the suspects were flown back on a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with the registration number JA620J — the very same jet redecorated in a One Piece collaboration last summer. Japan Airlines claims that this is a total coincidence. https://japantoday.com/category/features/travel/japan-airlines-and-'one-piece'-team-up-for-wano-country-airplane-and-pirate-adventure-in-the-sky Based on communication data on the suspects' mobile phones, the police believe that the robbers received instruction from "Luffy" using the Telegram messenger app. The group members appear to have been recruited through an informal recruitment ad on social media. The Telegram messenger app is often used to orchestrate robberies because of its highly anonymous nature. The suspect of a robbery of a recycle shop in Chiba prefecture on January 12 was also found to have the Telegram app on his mobile phone.

    NMB48 - Done

they announced their new album "NMB13" and also their first hand shake event in 3.5 years aside Sayaka Yamamoto i don't know much about NMB48 but they along the other 48 are who popularized the hand shake events, right? behind the scenes
  15. this is the group's first MV with the new line up, in December of 2022 Kaede left the group and 2 new members were added, Leona and Momoti is also a follow up to their "MUST CHANGE" project, too long to explain specially since it ended already but the purpose was to decide the future of the group, from disbanding to rebooting and everything in between
  16. as usual, pretty good! 35.7 debuted barely a year ago but they already have some nice releases
  17. https://www.npr.org/2023/02/09/1155460644/killer-whale-moms-are-still-supporting-their-adult-sons-and-its-costing-them Killer whale moms are still supporting their adult sons — and it's costing them Twenty years ago, in the waters off the coast of Washington State and British Columbia, an adult female killer whale (dubbed K16 by those who know her well) gave birth to a son, K35. "These two have an extremely close social relationship," says Michael Weiss, the research director at the Center for Whale Research in Friday Harbor, Washington. It's hard for Weiss to think of a time when he didn't catch the pair hanging out in the same group, and often immediately next to each other. "[They're] just this pair of whales that are basically each other's best friend," he said. Male orcas are massive, and so are their appetites. They're also less maneuverable, which may make it harder for them to catch prey. All this means that a male like K35 needs help getting enough food. So his mom will often dive down, says Weiss, "catch a salmon, and bring it up to the surface and actually bite half of the fish off and leave that half for her son. So she's sharing a huge amount of food." And here's the striking thing — since K35 was born two decades ago, his mom has never had another calf. Contrast that with other females in the population. "Killer whale mothers pay a really huge cost to take care of their sons," says Weiss. That cost is that they have fewer offspring. "And they do this throughout their son's life and never really stop paying that cost to keep their sons alive." In fact, when a mom dies, her son usually perishes within a year or two. "We think that is largely because they're seeing a huge reduction in the amount of food they get," explains Weiss. "That's how you keep a population of slow-breeding animals going," says Weiss. "So investing in sons for a population like ours that is so stressed is really not ideal." Weiss worries that this maternal strategy, which served this population so well in the past, could raise their risk of extinction — that the kind of lifelong bonds he's seen between K16 and her son may tether these creatures to an uncertain fate.
  18. cool, i'm expecting great things from Kinopo this year Kinopo are good! check their stuff
  19. https://nypost.com/2023/02/03/absolutely-sick-contestants-say-netflixs-squid-game-reality-show-was-cruel/ https://variety.com/2023/tv/global/netflix-squid-game-reality-show-frozen-inhumane-welfare-1235511809/ Contestants on Netflix’s “Squid Game: The Challenge” have reportedly renamed the competition series the “Rigged Game” as they call filming an “inhumane” experience. The show is inspired by the streaming giant‘s wildly popular fictional 2021 series “Squid Game,” which showed poor people participating in gruesome games for millions of dollars. The real-life version, which reportedly began filming last week, boasts 456 contestants vying for $4.56 million — allegedly the biggest prize money ever given out on a TV game show. But traumatized players — whose names were not disclosed — reportedly told the rock bible that the show’s production was disastrous and dangerous, claiming at least 10 people collapsed while spending up to nine hours in a freezing airport hangar for a game they were told would only take two hours. One even alleged that medics did not respond to ill contestants quickly because producers were concerned about ruining the footage, Rolling Stone reported. “I’m shaking, and I’m talking about, like, I’m-on-top-of-Mount-Everest-and-I’ve-got-nothing-on shaking,” one told the mag. “It was just the cruelest, meanest thing I’ve ever been through,” one former player told Rolling Stone about the experience. “We were a human horse race, and they were treating us like horses out in the cold racing, and [the race] was fixed.” A player also observed an every-man-for-himself attitude among contestants as they pushed through treacherous conditions in the hopes of winning the life-altering cash prize. “People were beating themselves up, including myself, around the fact that you’ve got a girl convulsing, and [we] all stood there like statues. On what planet is that even humane?” they asked. “Obviously, you would jump and help — that’s what our human nature is for most of us. But absolutely it’s a social experiment. It played on our morals, and it’s sick. It’s absolutely sick.”
  20. from their first album "in bloom" is their first MV, they are the sister group of MAD JAMIE
  21. my favorite member is Rina Kannami, hopefully this isn't the last time i heard about her i recall some months ago her and another member, Cocona, debuted in a new group LIPRINK (the 3rd member is from the group ka☆Chun) i guess they are going to be active there going forward
  22. last concert is going to be on March 26 yeah i know they aren't exactly a household name but is still sad, they have some decent songs and i was looking forward to more of their releases also... kinda strange since their company was in expansion mode during 2022, they debuted 2 new groups and recruited lots of trainees, they also were expanding activities for OBP which was their main act, i wonder what is going to happen now? OBP were the successor group of "Okinawa Bishoujo Project" hopefully the members stick around and we get to see them in other projects some videos
